Talking on ozbargain about the lack of contact from them wont help you.
          Call them 131314
They will be able to help more than us

  • Applied and sent thru my payslips and income statements as requested.
Without any further communication or confirmation, I received the cards yesterday and waiting for the welcome pack now.

    Thanks OP.

  • 50k Qantas FF card just got approved, but the 50k ANZ Rewards one got rejected…

    • Did you apply for the Qantas FF first? Maybe they saw too many applications in a short period…

      • Yeah, Qantas FF first, second one 15 mins later. Not to worry, can wait for the 'next' decent offer :)

  • Wow approved with 15000 limit on the standard FF. Has anyone upgraded to the black card straight from the standard without the minimum income requirement? Would like to take advantage of the lounge passes and other benefits.

    • Wait until you've received the bonus points before transferring.

The offer specifically excludes transferred cards from getting bonus points.

  • Do DEFT payments counts as an eligible purchase?

    • I would assume so, as long as the biller accepts CC payments through DEFT like any other purchase.

It can be a bit iffy with BPay, as some billers dont accept CC through BPay and it may count as a cash advance.

      • With various cards over the years I've found that if the biller doesn't accept CC via BPay it simply doesn't go through rather than getting slugged for a cash advance.

    • No. It's calculated as cash advance.

  • Does anyone know if ANZ charge international transaction fee on the FF Black?

    • +2

Yes, they charge it on ALL cards.
They even charge it on transactions in AUD from offshore provider. Kinda sucks.

      • I will add it to my paypal account then, that way I shouldn't get charged anything right?

        • -1

          They'll still charge it

        • @juicedpixels:
Really? I thought that is up to Paypal.

        • @nadan:

In my experience yes. That's why I have 28 Degrees

        • @juicedpixels:

Crap, I was going to spend like $400 on it and wanted that to count towards the $1500 minimum spend.

        • @nadan:

I could be wrong. Perhaps worth the risk for $12 in fees?

        • @juicedpixels:

I have 2 cc visa/mastercard with paypal and i dont ever get charged a fee.. but they are with westpac/nab. Either way, dont know why they are charging you when the transaction done by paypal.

Idid once get charged a fee by paypal using a amex link card but it warns you and tell you the fee before you submit the payment.

just hit about 1800$ on the standard card lets see how long these points take.

  • Smashed the black card for 2k already. Lets see how long the bonus points take. I was going to cancel it right away, but the other features on the card are pretty good.

I'm very interested in the OS lounge access, lots in europe where i'm heading at the end of the year. Has any one got any experience with using the card for that? it is pretty easy

    • +2

I'll report back in a month on OS lounge access. Sunny Europe in a couple of weeks!

      • +1

keen to know if they just need to "sight the card" rather than actually use the card. if they only need to see it, then I can cancel the cards anytime and keep the access ;)

        • Yes but after the card expiry date will they pick up on that?

  • +1

    Well… This is interesting.
I'm a full time uni student and no job/centerlink/income. Went to the bank on Thursday to do some housekeeping, got offer the basic FF card with a 1k limit. Went back to the bank and applied on Friday afternoon and got referred as expected. Lunch time Monday got an email from the local beach saying I've been approved. Apparently ANZ are doing special considerations for full time uni students with no income as I was apparently the fourth student with no income to be approved.

    • +3

I like the call from the local beach they always surprise you.

      • +1

So that explains all that sand in my shoes!

    • lol i am a full time uni student with 2 part time jobs, earning 2k+ a month and still require pay slip and other information. and it has been 3 weeks and they are still reviewing my application lol :(

    • Can you please tell me which branch this is? My friend tried this at Town Hall and got rejected flat out and said min income requirements, etc.

Would it be possible to get this exemption as a uni student through the online application?

    • During the application process ANZ automatically checks your ANZ transaction accounts. They look at what is going in and coming out. These no income approvals seem only for existing ANZ customers.

  • Hi all. Any tips on how to spend the $1500? Little worried as I don't have that many expenses. What's to stop someone from loading several hundred on a go card/myki and then getting it refunded after you get the points?

    • I think the easiest would be to ask family members to use your credit card for their purchases and I have already got the sibling making a $400 purchase on it. I have asked Dad to pay the bills with my card too.

    • Hang on, lemme go make an eBay auction for a bag of air for the low low price of $1500.

      • nah fail coz you would have to pay $180 in eBay and PayPal fees

      • +2

Take it to the local beach.

  • My car insurance bill is coming up. that's around $1100.
The rest will come from grocery purchase etc.
Will take advantage of car rental excess insurance feature of this card.

  • +1

I have car insurance, servicing and home insurance all coming up in September. Quite a large sum of money in one hit but the points will at least serve as cold comfort.

  • I've already got an ANZ credit card. Am i able to apply for a new card for this promo ?

    • just apply using the link for a different card and see how you go

  • Apologies if this has already been answered before…

On the ANZ site where you apply, it shows an AMEX card an a Visa card. I've applied and it's been approved, however it didn't ask me which card I preferred. Anything I need to do to get the AMEX one instead of Visa?

    • +2

You get both cards on the one account

      • Ahhh nice, cheers for the confirmation. I went back through this thread going through all the posts and found the answer as per yours. Should have checked properly beforehand lol!

      • Yes, also keep both cards in your wallet when shopping as the Amex is not accepted in most places. In fact the commbank eftpos machine doesn't accept it by default.

  • i received 2 application approved for Platinum and Black, if activate both card will i get 100k bonus points?

    • +1

if u spend $1500 for each card in 3 months , then yes, u will get 100k points.

I just called them today and they said its two separate credit cards so u can get the points.

just out of curious, what happen if u applied all 3 and got approved ? so 150k points ? hahaha

  • I want to book a flight now to LA with Qantas, do I need to be a frequent flyer member in advance to get the points, I need to send in proof of income before im approved and I want to pay for the flights asap. FML

    • Yes you need to enter your FF number when applying. FF membership through ANZ is currently free.

      • oh shit u mean u need to already be a frequent flyer member when applying for the anz credit card?

        • Yeah it asks for the FF number halfway through the sign up process (otherwise nowhere to deposit 50k points). If you haven't signed up yet though, the FF membership is free as fishybone said :)

        • I completely misunderstood and thought that signing up for the credit card also got u access to the frequent flyer program. My application is not accepted yet as I still have to send in proof of income, wonder if I can just try it again this time with being a frequent flyer first?

        • @harthagan: Just get a free account through Woolworths Everyday Rewards, and send the number in with your proof of income.

  • So tempted to apply for this but I'll be applying for mortgage in the next few months. So I'm guessing it's best for me not to apply for any of these cards.

    • A $1,000 application probably won't do too much harm…

      • Thanks! Just had a look again and it looks like I could apply for the normal frequent flyer card with a $1000 credit limit. I was tempted to get the black card initially, oh well!

    • having a line of credit that u use and pay for on time would actually help.

  • If I pay a bill using PayPal and the linked Amex card, would that still be counted towards the $1,500 eligible transactions? And would I still get the 1.5 points per $1 in addition?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • Haha great thanks, total win

        • What about using the card to Bpay bills?

        • +1

@dumdidum: yes, that counts. So long as your Bpay bill can be paied using a credit card as a funding source. (it wont process if it can't)

        • Just wondering how to specify Amex when using BPAY on ANZ internet banking portal…

Guess I won't know the fee until after I've committed

        • @dumdidum: Worst case scenario, you get half the points for your transaction. But the 1,500 points here are chicken feed.

        • @dumdidum:

I checked with ANZ team yesterday and they confirmed Bpay payment using credit card will be treated as cash advance.

        • @Sshanaz: I've never heard of this. I've used CBA and Westpac credit cards, they have all been treated as a regular purchase when using BPay.

        • @Sshanaz: So just don't use BPay. If you call the provider directly, you can pay with credit card, and usually for a lower fee.

  • Approved for Platinum and Rewards cards. free points all the way.

    • Do you get points for both accounts? I thought its for 'new' account holders only?

  • +1

OK, I just got off the phone to ANZ CS to query if I was eligible to receive 50k points on the regular card and 50k points on the Black card… Her response was to her understanding that is correct, you will received this as they are two separate cards/accounts and this is how she interprets the t&c.

Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply and are approved for an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card accounts by 26 August 2014

I am a new and approved applicant of an ANZ Frequent Flyer card, and a new and approved applicant of an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card, so I will get 50k points on each card.

    • thanks, now the waiting game of 4 months - hopefully the point turns up on both card.

    • i asked the same question got told the same thing.. FF and FFP cards :) no black

      • -1

Do you mean you are told you will only get the bonus points once?

        • -2

          sounds like it

        • +1

          @ishe:

No, read the last paragraph of what andystyle said.

I am a new and approved applicant of an ANZ Frequent Flyer card, and a new and approved applicant of an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card, so I will get 50k points on each card.

        • @illumination: Yep this, and as above what vid_ghost said

i asked the same question got told the same thing.. FF and FFP cards :) no black

Although vid_ghost got FF and FFP, not FF and FFB like I did.

        • @AnDyStYLe: skimmed read @damienpang, getting bonus point on both cards is what i thought all along :)

        • @ishe: Yep. Must be too drunk while reading it for first time!

  • -1

anybody knows how long it takes for the 50,000 points to be added into your account

    • 4 months from when you spend 1500 .. there way of stopping people from canceling early

  • anyone able to comfirm paying bills using credit credit treated as cash as cash advance?(bpay) that what someone post it few posts up said.

    • Bills are treated as normal payments.. "example" going to sydneywater.com.au and paying a water bill with the credit card counts towards your 1500

Bpay DOES NOT Count! as advised by ANZ staff. its treated as cash advance and cash advance doest not count.

  • +1

This might be a dumb question… but how do you pay back these cards?

I was looking for a BPay details or something, but only could only find some 'directpay' option that links a bank account to automatically pay your credit card bill every month.

Surely that's not the only option!

    • +6

Use bpay from your bank account

      ANZ bpay biller code: 6007
Then your credit card number as the Ref:

works great for me! I use bpay from my CBA netbank account.

Test it first by sending $5. Make sure it makes it to your card then your free to pay back your 1500 with confidence

      More info here - http://www.anz.com.au/small-business/products-services/credi…

      • thanks!

        • can also setup an ANZ Netbank account over the phone to monitor your cards payments and reward points… They also have a phone app for the netbank as well!

      • Can confirm that this works a treat!

      • Hey, for the CREDIT CARD Number, do we use the VISA or AMEX?
        Thanks in Advance :)

        • I used visa, works well!

        • +1

          @poop: Yep same…

Although, if you wait for your statement, it'll give you the option to BPay with the instructions at the bottom of the statement. Strangely though, the account number on my statement didn't match either of my AMEX/VISA card numbers.

  • received my welcome pack for black card 2 days ago but not the card itself, how long did you guys get it ?

    • Got the cards first, then welcome pack day after.

    • +1

I got my welcome pack first then cards two days later

      • i will check my mailbox if i received it today, cant wait to activate it as i need to pay some bills by friday.

        • Funny enough, I received my FF cards first, then the welcome pack the next day.

But with my FFB, I received the welcome pack yesterday, but still yet to receive the cards!

I've already spent $1.5k on the FF cards for Euro accommodation, but still have a couple more to book asap and really hanging out for the FFB cards! Hope they'll come tomorrow.

        • @AnDyStYLe:
i just received the PINs but no cards?? should i rang them up?? usually received the cards first before the PIN right?

        • @ishe: I imagine lost in the mail. I got my welcome pack/cards the same day, with PINs 2 days later.

        • @juicedpixels:
i just rang them i need to verify id, which sound really strange, got the welcome pack and the PIN. well i guess i need to pay a visit to the branch, and lucky there is one nearby office.

        • @ishe: I am already with ANZ so didn't need to do that.
I got a Westpac card recently (20,000 points) and had to verify ID at branch before it was activated, but they sent me the cards and I took them in.
