      • I thought gift cards expiry is dependent on when the card was activated. For WISH (Woolies) gift cards it's 12 months, and Coles gift cards it's 24 months.

    • +1

I bought an NRMA car insurance policy a few years ago and needed a refund. The refund came on a cheque even though I paid with credit ;)

edit: just make sure you request the refund within the cooling off period.

      • So cooling off period allows you to annul it entirely, receiving a full refund?

        • +3

Correct, I was issued a full refund. I think its a salutatory requirement(NSW at least).

Its also a handy trick if you have a car temporally and need insurance(free) for a month.

        • @mrjames: Hmmm….. so if you needed to spend $5k on a card in three months, potentially you could just pay 5 policies upfront, then ask for a cheque a week after?

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows: I think its only $1500 for the whole 3 months.

        • @mrjames: This one. There are other types. There's one that'll give you 100,000 points ($400 fee), but you have to run through $15k in three months.

    • Ask your parents/siblings if you could pay their bills until you reach $1500 mark (they pay you back of course). But make sure the bills can be paid with credit card first.

  • $1100 has been spent on car registration so I am now left with $400 to claim 50,000 points.

    • Which ungodly state do you live in?

      • NSW

        • $1100 is car rego in NSW?

        • $468 = RTA fee
          $590 = QBE Green slip
          $42 = Pink Slip

If I use NRMA greenslip then the quote is showing $767 :(

        • come live in QLD. we got more ozbargain deals here I think!

    • I am pretty sure fees are not included as part of the 1500?

  • To save anyone wasting their time who just received their card today, you can activate your card but you can't register / access internet banking as it's down until 1pm tomorrow approx.

  • If I apply for second credit card and get approved, do I still get 50,000 points for new card?

    • Given it's going to cost them in the ball park of $500 for every person they give the points to, I have a feeling they'll be ensuring nobody doubles up. Could be wrong, though.

  • Anyone know if you can activate the card before the Welcome Kit arrives? Got my card, but not the welcome kit :/

    • +1

Yes - you just need to know your credit limit.

      • Cool, thanks! :)

  • Received my welcome pack. They don't skimp on packaging costs…

  • +1

Just applied, immediate approval. A bit surprised as this is my 7th credit card. I genuinely forgot to put in one of my cards with its limit but ANZ still accepted what I was saying. My total credit card limit came to $45k, should actually have been $60k. I applied for 15k limit,$1000 per month.

    • out of curiosity….what's your annual income? 150K?
mine 50k seems hard to get approved even for basic card with 1000 limit

  • Just a ques, how long does the card take to arrive in business days? Need to make a $500 purchase on Wednesday, if I applied today would it be here to Brisbane & usable by then?

    • Should be, it took two days for mine in VIC.

    • It seems to take two days to arrive in Melbourne (mine too), not sure about Qld. Also worth noting you'll need to be approved - rather than referred - tomorrow. Good luck!

      • Thanks heaps :) fingers crossed and lets see. I'm an existing ANZ customer so hopefully that might speed things up.

        • You won't be able to get one if you are already with anz.

        • +1

          @nadan:

Are you sure? No offer only applys to new ANZ customers in the fine print that I can see. Says new applicants but not about being an existing customer.

        • @nadan:
I am an anz customer. I have rewards platinum and just applied for the frequent flyer card to get the bonus point. I got approved.

  • Instantly approved for black $16k. Rang to reduce limit. They said to call back when card comes. How much do you think they'll reduce to? I like low limit cards that I turn over a lot. Ie $2k spend but put money on each week to keep spending..

    • Black has to be minimum 15k, Between Plat can go as low as 6k…

      • So even if I ask for lower I can't?

        • Pretty sure they issue premium cards with premium privileges so they can get big spenders, and the minimum limits are how they find the big spenders. Just have to keep the card locked away. :)

  • People who applied for Black, did all of you put your income as over $75K? Or less and still approved?

    • Less. 60K to be exact. But 18K added for additional investment income.

    • I put my income 68k plus rental income 19k

  • lovepub, my annual income around $110k.

  • Does anyone know how to get internet banking set up? It asks for a customer number, which I can't seem to locate on the Welcome Pack.

    • +1

With a regular ANZ account, my customer number is the number on my ATM card…

  • Approved after a week of being deferred with 15k limit on the base model card which I will use for the points only.

  • When I read the eligible purchases which apply to this card, they exclude fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions. Does it mean that payment of council fees ,all utilities bills, school fees, university fees and gift card purchases etc will not count towards the $1500 spending? Please enlighten if I am wrong. If so, what are the best ways to spend the money?

    • My interpretation of "cash equivalent" transaction is any transaction that will accrue interest immediately e.g. withdrawing cash from an ATM using your credit card or using BPAY where credit cards are not accepted.

Edit: Also, when they say fees, I think they mean fees charged by ANZ e.g. late repayment fee

hubby and I each did it, I seemed to have a lot more choice in terms of limit. both approved. in the application for hubby there was no request for his QFF number? did we do something wrong?

    • +1

Did he apply for the Rewards card by mistake? That card accuses ANZ's proprietary points, not FF points.

      • will have to get him to contact them. can you contact them by email or only phone?

      • +2

"It wasn't us, it was ANZ's proprietary points!" protested the Qantas points.

  • -2

just got the standard Frequent Flyer card and found out you have to pay $50 annual fee.

    • +1

No you don't. You'll find just below the fee schedule, that it's not payable in the first year.

      • lol awks. yeh you dont need to pay for the first year. thanks :)

  • Lol I applied for the black card and got rejected. Then I applied for the other card and got approved. I just received both a rejection and acceptance letter in the mail. Not sure why I was rejected for the black though.. apparently $80k income with no debt or bad history isn't good enough for them.

  • Anyone know when points are credited?

    • Terms say within 4 months of racking up $1,500 in eligible transactions

  • Got my cards today, didn't realise i get an Amex and a Visa. Thought it was one or the other, so does that mean spending on either the Amex/Visa card will contribute to the $1500 spend towards the bonus points?

    • Yep, both link to the same account, so spending on either will contribute.

      • Interesting to note that the visa cars number shows up on the app, but includes the associated Amex transactions. The Amex card number does not show up though.

        • Yeah I noticed that in Online Banking…bit weird, as I thought they might both show up…but each individual transaction shows which card was used, and the rewards part breaks it down by card too…

        • @Toaster: That's normal. I had a CBA Visa/AMEX combo a few years ago, same deal. Card was listed as Visa, but all transactions show up in netbanking. I think AMEX transactions have AMEX in the description from memory.

      • Bearing in mind that the Amex will earn you more points!

  • I already have a platinum ANZ QF FF card. I applied and got accepted for the standard version and the black version. Im hoping to score 100k points from these 2 cards. will update the outcome in about 4 months!

  • I applied (and got approved for) the black and the platinum and am hoping for 100,000 points too!

  • +5

    FYI, just spoke to ANZ.
Eligable purchases means anything except anything related to betting, TAB, SportsBet etc..

    • +3

Does that include Myki? Since that's a bet as to whether the trains will show up? ;)

    • There is a loophole with ANZ credit cards and a particular website I use for online Poker…Its doesnt treat the deposit into the account as a cash advance, and awards me QF points too

      • WINNING!!

  • Signed up, approved, card received, and activated. Thinking of just buying $1500 worth of Coles cards and using them over the next six months or so. Does anyone know the best place to buy them, with a discount?

    • You're probably better off buying $1580 worth of WISH cards (5% discount) for $1500. Do you have RACV membership? Or know somebody with an entertainment book?

  • +1

Got the card and welcome kit.
The offer letter mentioned to verify your ID.
Do I have to ? as the card can be activated as it is right ?

Interested in where to get discounted Coles gift card as well. Usually get it via Entertainment book but that discontinued now.

    • Yes you need to verify your ID at ANZ. I tried just activating them on the phone, but they didn't work until I went in to get my ID verified. I think you'll be able to skip this step if you're an existing customer though.

      • Thanks fishybone,

Will have to do over the weekend then.

  • +1

I got my cards and welcome pack - but no mention anywhere of the 50,000 points. Is this normal?

  • How long does it take for the welcome pack to arrive after the cards? I think I read 2 or 3 days?

    • +2

I ordered when the deal was posted. Got my cards last friday, welcome pack on Monday (syd).

    • +1

Applied and got approved on Tuesday, received cards on Thursday and welcome pack on Friday. PINs arrived on Monday.

      • Ah cool thanks!

      • Any mention in your welcome pack about the 50,000 points?

  • +2

Received and activated my cards on Monday, called concierge to order my Qantas Lounge passes on Monday night, received them today.
For anyone who's doing a hit and run on Black, you should also get your lounge passes. They are worth a bit of money.

    • @cooni what (if any) was the expiry on your passes? Thanks.

      • Terms state that these are only useable in conjunction with a Qantas or Jetstar flight. Can anyone confirm if they enforce this? I have an emirates flight next week - do you reckon they'll let me in if I flash the invite?

        • +2

No, they won't let you in unless you show them a boarding pass from the two airlines you mentioned.

        • They are kinda strict on this must be a QF or JQ flight for that day you are on

        • you also need to order the invites, says it takes 4 weeks for them to arrive

        • mine took 2 days to arrive

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: Does it have your name printed on the invite?

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: dangit. flight tomorrow, could have used it. i figured it wouldn't arrive in time and I wanted to maximise the preiod they were valid (12 months from issue)

        • +1

          @runamuck: no, no name.

        • @cooni: Thx

        August 2015

        • Thanks.

    • Really?

      • well no where did it require me to enter any credit card info so yeah..

But i did ring ANZ and link it to my new ANZ QFF card after it was 100% all setup and working, what if i hadn't.. does the account get terminated

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just received mine after sending in my payslip about a week ago. Have now just put in an application for another one for my wife who is self employed - so her application was also referred. Let's see what additional info they want for her. Hopefully we'll soon have a combined 100,000 points - which would be fantastic.

    • Keep us updated, would be interested to know. Same situation!

  • -1

ANZ is pissing me off with their delayed response. It's been a week now and I have tickets to purchase.

    • -1

      Call them?

      • They sent an email saying this will be reviewed and will send an email regarding the outcome in 5 business days.

No chance of spending $1,500 in 3 months at this stage.
