  • All promo fares will be gone by tonight again!

How did you hear about it? Do they email you it if you sign up to their mailing list?

    • +2

I went on their website and saw it.

      • +1

It was only two months ago that this airline was banned by European Skies from flying into any destination in Europe. Trust them at your own peril.

        • +1

          what happnened

        • +1

          I googled about this….found the opposite….. http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/356358/economy/companie…

        • I think he is saying two months ago it was banned, its not anymore.

        • +2

The EU banned them from flying for 3 years which was lifted in April this year. They failed to meet European standards and didn't want to adhere to their sanctions. In April this year they lifted that ban. If you read my first comment I clearly stated that point. All I am saying is yes it is an extraordinary cheap deal! However, for a company who hasn't had a strong record of flying internationally over the past few years you are taking a risk.

        • +6

Riskier than riding a flooded Qantas plane or a missing Malaysian one? I don't think a reputable name makes an airline any safer these days.

        • +1

1 in a million flights crash? Worth the 'risk.'

        • +3

Mate, you seem to trust Cebu Air more than Qantas.
Good for you, and good luck.

        • Qantas has had more than it's fair share of near misses.

        • @brendanAUS:
Your previous post wasn't detailed-enough, for such an important issue. Also, it could be read that they were served the ban two months ago.

        • +1

They banned all Philippine carriers in 2010 because of trust issues with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. Now they are lifting the ban one carrier at a time. First out was Philippine Airlines. Now Cebu.

    • Last one just went on the sydney manilla leg… grrr I just clicked on the 95 bux link and it came up as 330:( there are 3 days in late september @ 40 bux for the manilla sydney tix …. Well done to those who scored!

  • nevermind

  • +2

So tempted.. but with a Viet trip coming up the wife may murder me if I try it.

  • is that rainy season between sept to nov?

    • +2

      http://www.lonelyplanet.com/philippines/weather

techincally yes but it seems still not wet in certain parts of the country

      • +1

It's hit and miss…typhoons are your biggest concern, but you can't predict them, might as well run the gauntlet!

    • Not a good idea to travel to an island and expect good weather. If you want to have sunny weather to swim and relax, go around April.

  • +1

I been november all good :)

  • This is such a good deal. A family of four $737. If only we weren't both studying.

    • +4

      Study maths! :P

  • +1

    Melbourne? PLEASEEE

    • Cebu dont fly to MEL. Book from SYD and get a cheap flight with Jetstar,Tiger etc

      • willing, what about return dates though? how does that work?

        • Book your flights with Cebu Pacific SYD-MNL-SYD and then once you have selected your departure and return dates just book your domestic flights from MEL-SYD & SYD-MEL on either side of your Philippine flight…..

        • +1

@davohatcher: ya i figured it out, thanks for the posting this

        • Is it cheap to get a bus/train?

        • +1

          @tightwad: Cheaper to fly.

        • Thanks. Will check it out properly tomorrow.

  • +1

I heard this on the radio this morning and I just thought "Pfft, nah" and dismissed it.

  • looks like direct flights too

  • +1

Has anyone here experienced flying with them?

    • they're fine, no problems

    • +2

Yeah flown with them twice, once from Manila to Cebu and the other from Cebu to Manila.

Both were short flights (just over an hour), but the staff were friendly.

      • +2

Ive flown them three times domestic in the Philippines & once International to Cambodia, Two flights were delayed but no longer then an hour, There like AirAsia great for the price

This flight will be on there wide body A330-300 bigger then there normal A320's but still packed

    • Flown with them before. Fine. Not really a budget airline. More like a very, very cheap full fare airline. That's how I see them. Could be wrong, mind.

      • It is definitely a low cost/budget airline. Only your seat and cabin baggage is included in the price. All extras are optional and need to be purchased if needed. But great prices :)

    • +2

I've flown about 6-7 times with them. For most of the flights they were great. The flight attendants play some wacky games sometimes lol. Only issue I had was flying to Boracay. Everyone boarded and then we sat on the plane for 40 mins on the runway doing nothing. Then the pilot said it was going to be too dark to land by the time they got to Boracay (no lights at airport I assume) so everyone had to get off, wait for our luggage, and then check in to another Cebu flight landing at an airport 1 hour away from Boracay. Cebu then paid for a bus to take us to the original airport and then a ferry to Boracay. They also gave everyone on the flight one free Domestic flight voucher (unlimited value) to use within 12 months. So all in all wasn't too bad. Didn't put me off from just booking my next holiday! :)

    • Cebu pacific is one of the main domestic carriers I've flown to cebu and down south of cebu with them plenty of times. They are fine. I've obviously not flown international but domestic they are popular

  • +4

I flew from Singapore to Cebu in April on Cebu Pacific and spent three weeks cycling through the Northern Mindanao and Eastern Visayas finishing my ride in Tacloban. Lets just say that Cebu Pacific Air are a little better than Air Koryo. I wouldn't want to sit on that type of plane for over 7 hours. If you intend to go to Cebu and have never been to the Philippines you better do some research. It's one crazy place.

  • Thanks. I booked November. It should be statistically drier but there's always the chance of a typhoon in November or even December. I suppose I should avoid the Eastern Visayas in November?

    • +3

Well when i visited in April the family i stayed with in the Eastern Visayas said they have close to one Typhoon hit every month all year round. Obviously they are more intense throughout the wet season. Manila is quiet "tame" compared to the rest of the Philippines. It has become very westernized in the past decade. I can highly recommend flying from Manila to Boracay or Puerto Princesa they are stunning places to visit.

      • Thank you so much for your advice. I've heard good things about Palawan (Puerto Princesa). As it turns out, AirAsia has begun flying to/near those places and I can get there really cheap (and back if no other airlines are competitive between) if I book in advance (which I hate doing but meh).

        • +4

Be sure to visit El Nido, Amazing!

  • So I booked return tickets to the phillipines for $140 and I'm going for 3 days. Wow. This is going to be weird. Thanks OP!

    • +2

      serious 3 days?

      • +9

Yeah mate. I 'm planning a South America trip next year, so couldn't go too overboard here. For $140 return in the school holidays, how can you say no?! I spent more than the cost of my return tix on drinks last weekend…

        • It's the associated costs that are the killer.

          "If ya gonna go…"

  • (profanity) it booking in tonight, yolo solo

  • +1

alright! this must be the cheapest international airfare I have ever purchase!

    • +2

How tall are you? Because when I flew Singapore to Cebu earlier this year I had zero leg room and i'm 5ft11. I only flew for three hours and was sore i couldn't imagine flying from Sydney to Manila.

      • +5

        For $143, I'll stand ;)

        • +2

Haha exactly . can't believe people are complaining about things like leg room for this price. I'm sure the flight hostesses will more than make up for potential cramped leg room :) I'm 6ft and have flown domestic with cebu pacific plenty times they are no worse than China air which I flew to hakaido Japan

      • Im 5.9. Its not a major issue for me but i feel your pain brother. We keep telling ourself not to fly budget anymore (usually long transit waiting hour, not direct) but 300aud return for both of us, its too good to ignore.

We also planning to visit bangkok and indonesia. Cheap from manila

    • $5 UK to Germany
      $15 to return.

      Inc. Taxes. Carry-on.

  • +4

probs funded by channel 7, for filming the new season of What Really Happens in Manila

    • What really happens in bali has got to be the worst TV I've ever seen. Closely followed by house rules, my kitchen rules, the voice, masterchef, x factor and any other number of terrible reality shows where the only thing worse than the nonsense show content is the onslaught of ads! :-)

      • You watch TV?

        • haha well i didn't go into that, my wife does. I love my couchpotato + sickbeard

  • thankyou

    I booked for two.

    I joined the ceb club

hopefully this will get me notified of future sales

    • +1

you will cebu pacfic have sales like this every few weeks.

  • cant even get on the site

  • +1

    must resist….

  • +4

The thing I hate about Ozbargain is that I don't have anywhere near as much annual leave as I find affordable holidays…

This kills me to resist but I have to :(

    • +2

For prices this good, even leave without pay works out cheaper lol

  • +1

Just booked!!! Could not resist :)

  • OP, what dates did you put in for the $143 return?

  • +2

Ridiculous deal people - managed to snag a 5 day getaway in early November. Great find, thanks heaps!

  • -8

Does this come with a free bullet proof vest?

    • +4

Nope, but hopefully our flights are free of idiots

    • +1

You're not going to an American college.

  • Amazing! Cheaper than airline staff travel!

  • The ticket was $25.50 before tax. Now, THAT'S Cheap!!!!!!!!!

  • +3

Missed out last time but got it this time! Going to Boracay

  • Booked for my mum. Tnx for posting ^^

  • Jetstar price beat? Will it work?

    • +3

no because jetstar don't fly from SYD > Manila Direct.

      • What aircraft will they fly with?

        • +2

One with wines I hope ;)

        • +2

Cebu Pacific (Long Haul) = Airbus A330-343
          (Short Haul)= Airbus A320-200

Jetstar do not fly to Manila from Australia. Only via Japan

        • @tightwad:

          Have another drink!

  • was disappointed my friends and i didn't get it first time around.. but we got it this time woot!

$203 return (including luggage) for me :D

  • Did a price beat from Mel to syd to connect with this flight. Even at price beat prices Mel-syd return will almost be as much as the syd-Manila leg!

Manila to boracay is also just as much as syd-Manila!

Overall it's still a fantastic bargain!

    • +1

Depending on when you're leaving you can take advantage of AirAsia's specials to Boracay (and Puerto Princessa [PP]) in November (for example).

Boracay can be had as low as $27.xx return. PP for $60. Cebu was generally cheap enough I think.

This is using AirAsia with the PayPal option. Cebu Air looks cheap until you add on their sneaky fees so depending on your itinerary it might turn out cheaper to return repeatedly to Manila.

  • Brilliant! I purchased tickets.

  • +8

    Never even heard of Manila

    books tickets

    • Oh I LOL'ed at work :D

      • Holidays are more fun when you don't know where you're going :)

  • +1 for boracay. So wanted to make a trip like these two aussies did. http://youtu.be/_F7dBLg_VMk

  • ozbargain meet @ boracay kgo?

  • Anyone know what the best exit seats to purchase are?
