How much is the cheapest course to enroll ???

  • This is free at ANU as well - signing in through student email, clicking the cog, selecting "Office 365 settings", then "software".

Appears to be the 365 version, and states you need to login to the internet at least every 30 days to demonstrate you are still eligible.
I don't know how 365 works, but presumably it will stop working pretty swiftly once you drop out/graduate/defer.

    • and states you need to login to the internet at least every 30 days to demonstrate you are still eligible.

that applies to all 365 versions… They are subscriptions and constantly check your status.
If you don't, the offline versions reduce in functionality until you do…

      • I bought Office 365 University from the US Microsoft store and the condition you refer to (logging in to internet every 30 days otherwise decreased functionality)is not mentioned in the terms and conditions.

Can you provide a link to this. Thanks.

you need to login to the internet at least every 30 days

      Thats a big ask !
Where will you find the time to study then ?

  • think i'll stick with office 2013, even if i was a student….

  • I personally don't see how this is a deal. Once you stop working for the company or stop studying you will lose your access to the software. And any you have already installed with suddenly say you need to purchase a new licence.

That is your problem if you stop working or studying, your getting it for free anyway. This is an additional option for your study, if your studying you'll have about a 99% possibility that you will need this software.

In good right if you stop studying you lose the software access. As usual you want something for absolutely nothing. Pathetic attitude.

"As usual you want something for absolutely nothing. Pathetic attitude."

Err, yes. This is Oz Bargain. Not 'pay retail because large multi billion dollar company wants you to'. Of course we want something for nothing.
        You're deluded.

        • What are you on about your not normal person. You pay for university fee's regardless, your getting it free. Your logic is nonsense.

  • Good post just for mentioning UWS! I'm an ex-student so it doesn't apply to me.
I'm more than happy with Office 07 so I have intentions of upgrading.

  • This is not a 'deal'. Many Universities (and corporations, NGOs, government departments etc) have PAID for software that they then allow students/employees access to.

This is no different. It is no different and is not free. The University has paid for it in some way or some form.
As you are paying course fees, and the offer is only available to students, you've effectively paid for it indirectly.

  • Not actually free. Its purely a 'we're better than you' promotion.
    Nahp

Its also no giving me anything. Its providing me the ability to 'rent' access to it. If you GIVE me a baseball, I dont expect it to stop being able to be thrown after 30 days, unless you tell me I may still use my baseball.

Its a 'rental' all the 365 stuff (Adobe\Microsoft) is.

It's giving you access to a software suite.
Many students won't know about this deal and I guess this will help in spreading the word.

Just like in the company I work for, no one knew about the Microsoft HUP programme but when I told people about it, everyone jumped on it straight away.

Just because its not a deal for you, doesn't mean its not a deal.

  • It's a great deal for UWS students. I personally don't go there (and also paid $70 for the student windows 8.1 pro just recently) but if you can access this deal, why not? By the time you leave uni there'll be some new version anyway so just get that. They aren't exactly asking for anything so not sure why people are complaining.

  • Not sure if this deserves to be listed as a deal but I guess I could say that University of South Australia does the same thing as well. In addition the school of ITMS (IT School at UniSA) gives its students virtually any MS product (except Office) for free with a perpetual license. Eg Operating Systems, Apps, Development environments.

  • thanks OP, how long has this been out? bought student version of office from microsoft earlier in the year
