The Micro USB cables descriptions seem a bit confused.
The listing above says 24AWG then says 24AWG for 1m and 26AWG for 2m/3m.
The eBay listing says 24AWG in the text but 26AWG in the pictures.
Were you aware that 26AWG is actually smaller wire than 24AWG?
    The normal resistance of 26AWG wire is 133 ohms/km so a 3m lead will have a resistance of 0.8 ohms (133/1000*6 - 6m because the power does both ways). At 2A - the rated current - this will drop 1.6V. 24AWG wire is 85 ohms/km so 0.5 ohms or 1V drop (for 3m - 0.33v for 1m).

Can you please confirm how thick the wires are?

    • +1

All fixed. They are 24AWG. Sorry its late at night my brain stopped functioning.

  • +1

Your last sale you said they were all 24awg. But now it's back to 26awg for 2m and 3m. You should probably get your story straight?

    • +1

fixed. The cables are 24 AWG

  • +2

Anyone have an opinion on the power banks?

    • I bought some of the 6600mAh ones last time - Seems to work pretty well. Easily charges my Nexus 4 more than twice with capacity left over. I haven't tried using it further than that.

  • +4

I had bad experience with these cables. After using it for couple of months, it's stopped charging my phones and needed to play around with the head to be able to charge.

    Be aware!

    • You get 3 months warranty on our cables. Please contact us for replacement if your cable is faulty.

      • Your returns are super dodgy by circumventing Australia Post fees. I was asked to return by writing 'return to sender' on a new envelope.

Please drop the parcel into the mail box for return.
There should be no postage fees needed.
note: Chargers may apply if you goto the post office.

        • +5

what you might not know is post office will charge us fees if the parcel returned is not fully paid.

We apologize we cannot send you a postage paid bag for you to return the item. This way will cost us double the postage.

It is not cheap to send things in Australia. We just want to help you save money.

        • +1

@bulksales: still an unethical practice my friend.

        • -1

          @spy:

I believe they still pay postage for return to sender. They are just saving you the postage to send you the postage paid bag.

      • +2

Sadly it was after the 3 months, so I didn't bother to contact you after I found the warranty only 3 months.

      • +1

I thought Australia consumer rights laws state 12 months? So eBay au not counted?

        • Where does it say that?

        • @eug:

          Here: http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/…

You'll notice a lot of warranty labels now include:

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

That's actually mandatory text if you provide any other warranty statement (i.e. your warranty cannot provide less than this minimum). I believe stating "3 months" without including this is not allowed, but I'm not a lawyer.

There's some discussion on how it applies for eBay. They seem to think it only applies if it's a business selling through eBay, and QLD and NSW treat it differently. That's why I made a comment earlier about their ABN being cancelled, and it looks like it can have very real implications on ACCC & warranties.

        • @elusive:
That doesn't answer my question. Where does it say "12 months"?
Nowhere, because it doesn't. They use terms like "reasonable". When you're paying $3 for a cable, the "reasonable" lifespan would be shorter than if you paid $15 for it.

        • @eug:

That's a good point. I can't find any source for the "12 months", now that I'm actually looking for it.

In any case, they should still include the mandatory text (though, I don't see anything officially listing the warranty period except comments here, so… maybe not).

Same here with my 3m (which only lasted two weeks or so) and after my constant nagging in previous threads, I was advised to send the cable in (at my cost) for a replacement. See previous threads for details. I just don't get the hype around Tikbro and how awesome they are made out to be. Even my Kogan $1 cable (purchased 4 months ago) has outlasted this Tikbro junk and has no typical Tikbro WHS (wonky head syndrome)

      • +1

I have the wonky head syndrome too from 24 AWG 1m :(

  • +7

Anyone find that the connector on the micro USB 2.0 cables tends to bend over time and eventually doesn't work? I have a few of these cables in various lengths and they always seem to bend.

    • +3

Yes I had the same problem, need to play around with the head to work

      • thanks for the information. We will work on improving the heads.

    • +3

I had the same problem. Its still charges, but only if I position the cord in a certain way. Its a hassle.

    • +2

I had the same issue with the head too….

    • +2

these cables might be good for fast charging.. but the way those heads are designed.. they always fail.. i've had plenty of these cables with the same design and they all always bend and become loose

    • +2

Yep, I bought 2 from the last deal and 1 now has a poor connection on the micro USB end and needs a jiggle to charge.

    • +3

Same here. Couldn't be stuffed returning a cable that cost a couple bucks…

      • Same here. Dodgy heads, but not worth hassle.

  • Good deal, bought a 1m cable. I was just about to search for one before the post.

  • why no 2m for note 3 :(

  • Before buying an external charger, ask what the battery is, it's actually really important what it's made of!

I'll bite. What batteries are you using, exactly? I assume they're in the 18650 form? Brand/model? Just "A-Grade" is far too vague ;)

    • Ill buy if its Panasonic :P

    • I'd like an answer to this as well

  • +1

Hm. The ABN listed in this deal is listed as cancelled as of July 2013.

I'm not sure if it will affect anything (possibly warranty claims?), but there it is. Make of it what you will.

    • ABN removed from deal description. The deal post itself is still allowed because seller is a top-rated seller.

  • Do you have digital port to hdmi adapter?

  • Anybody got any experience with their HDMI cables? Are they any better than the cheaper options available on ebay?

    • +2

I thought all HDMI cables were more or less the same, so you can save yourself some $$$ and go with a 1$ option from ebay (just check to see if it is 1.4 compatible)

  • +1

Almost bought but didn't after reading comments…

    • what is the main concern?
I have a couple cables at work, in the car and at home that all work from previous sales

      • +1

need to tingles with the head to make it charge your mobile see above comments more than three people had the same issue

"Its still charges, but only if I position the cord in a certain way. Its a hassle."

    • +2

I bought 5 cables, 3 power banks last sale, haven't had any issues with any of them.

  • i bought 3x of the 3m cables. mainly for moving around whilst charging which is a test in itself. no problems thus far..

  • I have the same problem with the head of the micro USB cable coming loose after time but I think these cables are great so I just buy a few at a time. Thanks rep

  • Same for me ordered last time and cord only works on a certain angle now. This seems to happen with all my micro USB cables though

  • Love these cables. The only ones I trust to charge at 2.1A

I don't expect any cables to last forever.

  • +1

Ordered one usb from a couple months ago, still going strong. No problem with the head so far.

Ordered one HDMI today and will see how it goes.

  • +10

Let's put this into perspective, you want a $2 cable to last, what 6mths, 12mths, 24mths? But I'm sure you'll happily pay $4 for that coffee everyday.

I've bought heaps of these over the last few promotions and I've only thrown out one or 2, mostly because of kids jamming them in. Are they the strongest cables? No, but they aren't crap and I do get full charge speeds. Buy some $1 cables from China and see if they last any longer.

Don't let the comments put you off, just put them in perspective.

    • +5

      couldn't agree more

plus, even official iPhone cables break and expose the metal threads if u keep pulling it the wrong way.

    • +1

No one expecting it to last for ever, but if you are not using that much and it died after 3 months and the cost 2x or 3x other cables. It should last longer than that or why I am paying more?. Also it's commen problem with the head, so the problem is in the head design. If each person has different problem you have your point.

I have couple of Chines cables that I paid 50c each still going strong after 4 months.
I am not to trying to put anyone off the sale but just saying my experience. Everyone can makes his choice

      • +3

But the Chinese cables don't give you proper charge speed which I value over longevity in an USB cable.

        • +2

Depends which ones you buy. Don't forget these Tikbro ones are Chinese generic just badged as Tikbro.

  • I am sure I will another cable somewhere, somehow, for my one device haha

  • Hi rep, do you have any HDMI to dvi converter (cable)?

  • +1

Well, I'm back for a few more. Waiting on my offer to be accepted.

I can report no problems with the cables I've ordered previously….except my wife keeps losing them! lol :(

  • +1

Mine have lasted 6mths so far and still going strong. I even bought some at full price when I saw the wife using these dodgy ones she bought for $5 at the petrol station that started exposing wires after only a month of use.

  • Do you happen to have a 0.5m cable? Its all I need for the car charger to the dock - 1m is too long and dangly around the dash & gearstick.

  • +1

have bought half a dozen now. one broke (yes the head) but that was due to user error -_-"

The others are still in use daily with no issues. The main thing with these cables are that they are very competitively priced for what they are imo. Delivers fast charge, at the we're paying for… what more to ask for really.

It's a few bucks, yes there are cheaper ones but they are slow charging and just as prone to breakage…

back onto this deal… has anyone got feedback in regards to the power banks on offer, performance-wise?

    • They work as described, what else is there I guess.
It has a torch in it as well.

      They just work.

      • +1

I think he's after whether the mah rating is accurate and how long it takes to charge?

        • Yup was hoping for something on the lines of that.

Lol I know they should work as described haha, just wondering if 6600mAh is true rating and general experiences (if anyone has any) on charge times

  • +2

Rep I have a 3m one the last time but the tiny pins had sunk in thus the usb plug does not stay in the phone charging port. Any ideas how to fix it?

    • I had the same issue which i resolved by levering them back up with a pin..

  • Bought 2 x 3m. The last one i bought 2m has lasted better than the genuine ASUS cable i got with nexus7

  • Got some usb 2 and usb 3. If something happen, knox is not too far from my place anyway

  • +2

I've bought half a dozen of these cables, all only lasting a few months.. The connectors are screwed after the first instance of the phone falling off the table while charging (and landing on the connector).
Great cables, but even the cheap $1 connectors on the cheap cables off ebay lasted a lot more abuse than the Tikbro.

  • +1

Bought 3 Micros USB cables two weeks ago. couldn't be happier with its charging speed.

  • I have got a Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, should I get Micro USB 2.0 or 3.0? Sorry noob question here…

    • Not sure about the nexus 5 but the head on the micro 3.0 looks like it's got an extra few pins. Nexus 7 is definitely 2.0.

    • Both the 5 and 7 are definitely USB 2.0. A 3.0 cable will not fit.

    • Thanks mates! Ordered a USB2.0 =)

  • +1

Aux cable is good, mine stopped working 6 months though.

    • er, that's not very good then…

    • typo?

  • Finally, been waiting for this. Bought 15 various lengths. Hope they dont get lost like all the others…
Can't vote + because im overseas at the moment..

  • The Note 3 cables don't seem to have the head issue. Been using it for 4+ months and no issues so far. And I know the issues with the Micro USB 2.0 cables, had them before (for my now retired S3) and a few of them broke.

Rep, can you provide 2m or 3m Micro USB 3.0 cables? Thanks.

  • +1

Got my cable this morning, thanks!

  • +1

Ordered yesterday, deliverd today. Love it

  • +1

Got my order for 1m and 2m. But the 3m haven't arrived yet.

  • +1

    Got mine today.

shoddy quality. 1st use of the cable, plug -> unplug…

    http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/92987/24640/image.jpg

    • That's the cable that comes with the powerbank, completely agree that they suck. The 1/2/3m cables aren't the same, all of mine since the last deal are going well.

The powerbank itself seems really good (bought three, two have been used fairly heavily). It is a shame it is bundled with such a crummy cable though. I wasn't expecting it to come with any so I wasn't too concerned about it as I had bought others in any case.

      • +1

Had a closer look at the plug now it's opened, the soldering on the end of two wires which run through the cable is an even worse problem. There is a big glob of it, less than 1mm separating the two from contacting eachother.

If you've got one of these power banks, i'd recommend you throw away the cable.

I'd assume the charger or powerbank would cut off the DC power out if shorted… but you never know, big fire hazard. I wouldn't want to be using one of these cables on plane or unattended

        • We also found the cable came with the powerbank wasn't good. We have provided a extra 24AWG micro usb cable in the package. We recommend you can use that cable instead.

        • @bulksales: good idea, but it wasn't in mine. just the power bank
