24

Just recieved an email from Vaya (I'm a LiveConnected customer) regarding their new ADSL2+ plans, which seem pretty decent:

  • Unlimited downloads
  • No connection fees
  • iPrimus network

  • $39 per month on 18 month contract

  • $45 per month on no contract
  • First 2 months free for existing customers.

$10 credit for both referrer and referee for mobile plan.

The referrer must be an UNLIMITED mobile plan customer with auto-renewal turned on. Referee must sign up to an UNLIMITED mobile plan or AS YOU GO and activate the service. Referee needs to provide referrer with their email address.

do they need telephone line? $39 + $30 line rental? $70 unlimited called cheap?

    • +4

      Yeah $39 doesn't include the phone line…

      Exetel is still the cheapest:
      http://www.exetel.com.au/broadband/adsl

$20 for 100GB is pretty good.

Decent speeds and service from my experiences as well - been with them for 10 years. Not to say that some people haven't had bad experiences with their service.

      • $20 only if you have access to Optus in your exchange though, otherwise it is $60 via Telstra ADSL2 - an example is Wodonga which is not Optus enabled.

        • I'm paying $50/mth for a Telstra based ADSL2+ plan on Exetel which includes line rental and 100GB downloads.

Telstra based plans are only $10 more expensive than the Optus based ones, but the call rates are worse/no call pack options.

        • @The Land of Smeg: Yeah, I'm paying $50 a month on Optus ADSL2+ with 500GB of downloads on Exetel. Pretty good value.

    iPrimus network

    ie. dodo network?

  • I assume iPrimus is using cheaper on-net infrastructure that isn't available in off-net areas that use telstra DSLAMS. In which case Club Telco or one of the other cheaper options is probably a better option.

  • What is the cheapest line rental (for someone who doesnt make any calls)
Vaya's home phone is $39 per month (unlimited local calls and cheap national and mobile calls)

This makes it -$78- $69 per month (on an 18 month contract) - Which isn't the greatest offer on the market.

Finally… Any opinions on the iPrimus network? Especially compared to TPG.

    • Exetel have $20 a month phone line on optus network

if you don't mind %30 of sync speed during peak times

        • Internet is a different issue. Still $20 for line rental regardless

          what's %30?

    • (for someone who doesnt make any calls)

Naked internet? Or do you need to receive calls?

  • They mention naked in the email, but there's no mention of it on their site.

or just 59,99 with unlimited internet and 6 month contract, after that it's just month by month.

      • I am on this plan, very stable and no shaping.

BUT, the phone line gets lots of overseas marketing/spam calls. DONOT CALL LIST does not apply to them. We have average a call every 2 hours. So the lan line is like non existence.

Serious tip: Change number, tell them not to publish it, worked for me, no more spam calls.

My mobiles with Vaya… wouldnt touch anything else they offer!… good god imagine the service…..

  • +7

Well, my personal advise is not to go ahead with vaya.. If you get in then u may incur hidden charges what I am facing @ the moment from their mobile service. If u call them for assistance sometimes they hung up the call without saying hello or either you have to wait for 30 mins to get in. Wastage of time and money.

  • ClubTelco is $40 p/mth, plus $22.95 for Telstra Home line Budget (May as well go through the company that repairs the network)

    • Telstra budget doesnt apply to other internet service providers outside of telstra

      • That's not true. I've always had Telstra budget with adsl connections from other providers. They don't like you to sign up with it but they won't stop you if you do.

I'm with iprimus atm $60 a month including line rental. unlimited also.

  • Agreeing with asa79
Already had wayyyyy too much trouble with the mobile service.
Their customer service is still fairly subpar, I would not pay for their internet until they grow bigger.

  • I'm an average "family user" and I've been with TPG for ages now and they have been great - 100GB plus line rental = $49.99/month and when we go past the download limit I don't even notice the capping speed reduction.

  • ADSL service for regional zones will be charged extra $25 per month plus $100 one time connection fee.

lunch + fuel for Optus tech road trip?

  • They sux. I was disconnected from ClubTelco and tried to switch to Vaya. They told me I have to pay $77 extra to get connected but given no reason. My phone line has been with AAPT, optus and ClubTelco and I see no problem for any ISP to be connected, and I was in the metro area as I was with ClubTelco.

And at the end, they just told me they cant connect me. That's it.

  • this is the most expensive adsl posted as bargain yet!

  • Vaya = sneaky Bastar**. given their mobile plan allowance of 1.5gb which ran out in 2 weeks. Explanation given we charge 1mb per session. basically everytime my ipohone tries to push for data fetch (most apps do), even if its only 10-50kb, I was deducted with 1 mb session. Imagine your phone doing this 50 times a day !!
