      errr. they're free delivery now

  • +11

I've been waiting for a deal on Eneloops from DSE… It's been days since I saw the last one!!! :)

    • You haven't seen the chocolat 8xAA pack this cheap yet. Previous best was a 34.95 double 8x pack, good if you want/need 16 batteries.

  • +4

They are now made in China, just like Aldi LSD's which cost $6.99 for a 4 pack.
Hopefully they are worth the extra money?

    • -1

Have you got some evidence of this?

      • +1

Evidence of what.. That they are made in China?
People on here have already bought these new gen Pano Eneloops sold at DSE and have confirmed it!

      • I bought the 8 pack tropical one last week from COTD but was fulfilled by DSE (had a DSE invoice and packing slip. The back stated made in Japan.

        • Are they the new Panasonic or actually the older Sanyo branded ones?

    • Yes they are. The Aldi ones go flat in a week or two.

      • i mean evidence the DSE chocolat eneloops are made in china

        • +3

The pack I ordered over the weekend just arrived (2x $34.95). I've taken a pic of the back of the pack for those interested. It says Made in China, but I get the feeling that most folks are basing their opinion on perception rather than facts.

        • thanks for posting this - theres a lot of posts allover the web stating 'bk-3mcce' are made in japan and or china with no evidence or reason why.

        • And I wasn't responding to you but commenting on luke73's comment 'Hopefully they are worth the extra money'.

        • @snoo:
The evidence was perfectly clear in the comments from a lot of people who have bought these from other recent DSE deals posted on here!!!
The bit about the Japanese ones being produced and shipped to other parts of the world is still very much unconfirmed though!!!

        • +1

Thanks Snoop. I guess this is what i was looking for..

          http://www.master-instruments.com.au/news_article/131/ENELOO…

I also emailed MI & they replied suggesting these Chocolat batteries are a DSE Only Exclusive Line - whatever that 'really' means.

      • My Aldi ones are great. Have them in a torch which sits in the car and a wireless mouse. THey function like any other LSD battery.

How many cycles I get will be interesting to see. Is there any way to determine this?

        • Not a lot as per my comment above. I am very disappointed in the Aldi batteries. You may be lucky but the various packs I have purchased have all been poor.

        • +1

You should return them. Aldi are very good with faulty products.
Mine have also worked great in a cheap power hungry wireless mouse and pvr remote. They last for months.
Are you using a smart charger?

    • +8

Just because something is made in China doesnt equate to the same quality for all products. There are heaps of factories with different quality control for each. Unless the same factory with the same quality control manufacture both products, there will most likely be a difference.

  • +4

u almost want to eat these

    • +9

Low in fat! Low GI! No sugar! High in nickel, lanthanum, cerium, neodymium, and praseodymium!

  • +2

How many different sets of flavours and colours have their been now? 4 at least.

I don't need any more, but these look very tempting… taste wise.

    • there are more than 4 styles now… some DSE never offer :/

      • +1

        Ooo more tasty treats…

  • +2

    Eneloop discount every week?

  • +6

I read title as "chocolat covered"

  • +18

I'm going to to against the OzBargain majority here and say these Eneloop 'bargains' are getting pretty tired. They're at this price so often that it hardly constitutes a bargain in my opinion.

    • Seconded!!!

    • +3

      But they are chocolate coloured….

      • +1

        they also smell like chocolates….

        • Just this week alone, I have seen this "bargain" by DSE 3 times…

And pretty much at least once a month…

  • +2

I still use these in my camera flash they are awesome 580 EX II Canon

I have the glitter ones and from all this talk on here it looks like this brand choclat is china brand not as good as the glitter ones correct?

    • +4

There is a mountain of chatter, and no actual facts/evidence. It has everything to do with perceptions.

    • +1

The general consensus is that they're not as good… But this is purely based on the country of manufacture. Realistically, none of us have had them for long enough to prove that they're inferior!

  • can someone please tell me hwat the go is with these ? higher mAH ?

    • +2

Yes, now made in China, up from 1900 to 2000mAh, recharge up from 1800 to 2100 times, lower retention down from 70% to 65%, unproven quality (good or bad) against previous Japanese made Eneloops!!!

      • +2

Snoop, reading your posts stresses me out. You keep using multiple exclamation points everywhere. I read it in my head in an almost shouting voice!!!

        See?

        • +2

I think snoop is just very excited about everything he/she posts. Which is odd considering how much of a non deal this is!!!!!!!!! !!!

        • +1

          @waterlogged turnip:
          LoL!!!

          @ChickenTalon:
Yes, technically it's a deal… But very much becoming like petrol. Yeah, it's $1.50 today, but you know it'll be back to $1.40 in a couple of days time.
I don't why (actually I do) DSE continue to jump the price up & down the way they do!

      • They make amazing batteries in China, like the 4800mAh ones I've seen for sale on eBay! /s

  • Damn I thought that said chocolate covered :/

    • If there were Eneloop shaped chocolates the OzBargain crowd would probably buy them.

      • +1

where!? when!? did they expire already…. !?! :-0

  • +5

$25 for x16 and a charger again please DSE ;)

    • +1

knowing DSE they will make that error again lol

  • +1

Thanks I needed some new batteries. What does everyone use to charge these? I have a standard overnight charger that I got from a mate but is there another one that anyone can recommend? Thanks

    • +1

The Quick charger is recommended. $29.99 from Masters, also includes 4x AA batteries.

      • +1

There's also the MCR06 Quick Charger with the older gen Eneloop AAs on clearance at $20 from Masters. But there's very limited stock out there now!!!
Edit: Everyone also raves about the La Crosse and Maha chargers!!!

      • +1

I have heard, but can't confirm, that quick charging reduces long term battery life and that you should be charging at low current. (10+ hours for an AA)

Edit: According to Sanyo, "Though it is possible to charge an eneloop battery in a "Quick Charger", it is not recommended.*We recommend charging eneloop batteries in a NiMh charger that is 2 hours or more. Charging eneloop batteries in a "Quick Charger" can reduce the overall life of the battery. It is strongly recommended to use eneloop, GE/Sanyo or Sanyo NiMh battery chargers. We only warrant eneloop if used with an eneloop, GE/Sanyo or Sanyo NiMh battery charger. "
[From other research it sounds like 10+ hours is too long. Maybe aim for 2-4 hours, or about 700mA)

        • +1

It's not as clear cut as that statement makes it to be!!!
Without doubt, a cheap quick charger could cook your batteries if it doesn't detect the peak and shut off! But likewise, a cheap overnight charger could do the same. Getting a decent smart charger with poroper cutoff technology, not just timer based, is the way to go!

      • The Eneloop Quick/Smart charger from Masters is out of stock everywhere.

Anywhere else you can buy these chargers without paying $50?

    • +2

      I use a nitecore digicharger d4

      http://www.nitecore.com/productDetail.aspx?id=114

      • do you have Nitecore flashlights too?
they're pretty awesome for a high end quality flashlights
you can see them testing out their durability on youtube.
pretty rough tests in my opinion.

I was too late and missed out on that deal a few months back… damn!

        • Ive got a Nitcore DC10 ,, its a nice light but technically outdated , I prefer my Olight S15 baton… the Nitcore always seemed to have parasitic drain on the battery

      • From that page the specs say 375mA x 4 or 750mA x 2. Seems very low as I charge my eneloops at a conservative rate of 700mA 4 at a time in my Maha C9000 and can charge much higher if I want. Is that spec right?

    • +2

La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger

    • +3

I use a maha charger. Not cheap, but good.

  • +3

Damn ozbagrain… another spend for the same things all over and over again!! Can't resist…. just grab one

    • Same here. Very good charger.

  • -1

Whats the deal with eneloops? are they just particularly good rechargeable batteries? (would consider getting some for xbox one controllers I suppose)

  • OMG eneloops again i will stick with the 88 dick smith rechargeable 2200mah i got for $27 delivered.

    • Lucky you, I didn't even receive mine!

      • Get onto support they sent me 44 of the wrong stock but i changed in store.

  • Thanx OP, purchased a pack

Don't get the ReCyko brand, 2 of the 8 I purchased last year are already dead, show up as NULL on all 4 slots of the LA Crosse charger

    Nitecore digicharger d4 looks awesome!

    • +1

      Nitecore flashlights are awesome too!

    • +2

Chuck the dead batteries in a dumb charger for 5 minutes to charge them a bit and then chuck them back in the la crosse charger. They should work again. With the la crosse charger if they are completely dead flat the la crosse wont charge them.

      • +1

This is actually what La Crosse recommend (though they say only 30 seconds in a cheap charger)

        • I've found that by leaving batteries not initially regonized by my La Crosse (as they are dead flat) in the La Crosse overnight, at some point in the night they have "woken up" and started to charge, then worked 100% per normal again.

I'm sure its not great for the batteries, but its made my day (more than once).

    • This is due to 'whiskers' within the battery causing a short. If you ptu them in a dumb charger it will cause them to melt/remove SC and work again.

Should be 0v if you measure it with a multimeter.

  • +1

Thanks, probably the 10th pack I've purchased but they do the job so well. Ordered and an hour later they have shipped, cool!

  • Why did they cover the batteries in chocolate?

  • -2

    Available: $19.98 Historical High: $19.98 Low: $19.98

Thanks, but this is standard price.

    • oh no, thank you!

I think you'll find this isn't the standard price. Wednesday these were $49.98. Price slice is wrong

    • He's right. As DSE are currently the only ones bringing these battery packs in, they set the "standard price"! No matter how ridiculous it is, or the fact that they're "on sale" every second day!

  • +1

I have bought both the Japan made and China made eneloop's and use them for the same thing. I have not seen any difference in quality at all. Try them and you will see they don't just look good :)
