A friend in USA tips there may be a 12" iPad "soon"

  • +1

    good find, thanks OP!

  • +1

incredibly cheap. though IMO the mini is a better size.

    • Id rather a 12" size

  • Damn you ozbargain…

Where can I can sell my iPad 4th gen 16 gig wifi only and for how much?

    • +1

I reckon ebay would be your best bet and probably about $350 used so about $300 cash in hand. Depends on condition too.

    • +1

feeBay it for ~$400 with warranty

    • I listed it it in gumtree and someone is willing to pay $350 16gig white wifi only plus case and smart cover. This is a good deal for me with 2 months warranty remaining.

    • EBay
      Gumtree
If ur really lazy… mobile monster

  • +1

I was seriously considering buying this as well but I have decided that my new Sony Xperia Ultra 6.4" that is currently on sale at MSY for $349 would suit me just fine. Don't really need to have both.

  • +2

the new 2014 device has one big advantage: 2GB RAM!!!
hope apple smart enough to make that happen as the ram is really hampering ipad air in browsing performance compare to windows and androids, it can hardly multi-task even on browser.

    • Ah is that why the tabs always have to refresh…

  • +1

If going oversea, still able to claim tax? Sorry, never buy things from KOGAN before

    • Unfortunately not
Comes from kogan hk meaning your tax invoice will already exclude gst

    • -1

      and no international apple warranty..

      • and no international apple warranty..

Really? On what evidence do you base this assumption?
Does it matter if the iPad was first purchased in Japan, Hong Kong, or wherever? As long as it is a Wi-Fi only iPad (no SIM slot) it will have a valid international warranty for 12 months.

        • +1

Someone really needs to dig deeper into this whole "cellular voids international warranty" embargo. Not me though, I'm lazy.

        • Hmm.. you might be right.. although I think this applies only to ipads, ipods, and (maybe) macbooks?

Samsung etc is btb.. i.e. back to Kogan? Pretty sure I read this somewhere, have to check otherwise..

        • @muncan:

Someone really needs to dig deeper into this whole "cellular voids international warranty" embargo

          There is no embargo.

          No warranty is voided.

In most cases iPads with cellular capability, and iPhones, must be returned to the country of first purchase in order to claim warranty or out of warranty service from Apple.

          @Frantic:

I think this applies only to ipads, ipods, and (maybe) macbooks?

MacBooks, and iPods, have an Apple International Warranty of 12 months. iPads with only Wi-Fi have an Apple International Warranty of 12 months.

MacBooks, iPads, iPods, and iPhones, purchased IN Australia have an Apple International Warranty of 12 months AND are subject to a Consumer Guarantee of (usually) 24 months.

Samsung etc is btb.. i.e. back to Kogan?

SAMSUNG products purchased from Kogan HK Pty. Ltd., via eBay or the Kogan website, and privately imported, are not supported under warranty by SAMSUNG Australia. I understand hat Kogan Australia Pty. Ltd. assists with any warranty claims made to Kogan HK Pty. Ltd.

          @A3Australia:

          thx for clearing that up

  • Oh ok, thanks :)
How about buy directly from Kogan website? $479 deduct 0.75% cash back, $50 Amex cash back and GST back if going oversea?

    • Doesn't matter if you purchase from Kogan's eBay store or website, you're still not going to get GST back per reason above.

  • Don't forget your $50 Amex rebate guys if you are considering to purchase this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/155475

Edit: forget that idea. It won't work as it's an eBay deal.

    Any recommendations on a cover?

    • just buy a cheap one off eBay for like around $10, no need for those cases which costs like $50+ instores

    • COTD have a a couple of cheap cases right now.

  • I'm looking at this for cover: $7 from oz.Alt URL: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Leather-iPad-Air-iPad-5-Cover-Cas…

    • Got this one for $5 delivered (currently $69.98+$4.95 delivery)

292 sold, 30 in the last hour - I was one of them.
I was horrified to find that the school my kid is going to next year has a mandatory BYOD policy, and it has to be an iPad. I've been checking out refurbs on ebay for the last month, but this price is very close to iPad 3/4 refurbs. And this is for the kid, not myself, so 16GB is just fine.
    Thanks OP!

    • +1

Do you have to give the teacher an Apple?

    • +1

Which year/grade do they need an ipad?

      • Year 5, believe it or not. I nearly fell off my chair.

  • Ebay have listed the iPad Air as part of it's Father's Day sale on their FB page……watch them fly out of the door…..

  • Anyone able to find out when this price ends? Want to grab one tomorrow so I hope it's not just a weekend deal!

    • I didn't want to take the risk of waiting until tomorrow. Grabbed a Space Grey, cheers OP!

    • Just commit to purchase it now, and pay for it tomorrow.

      • Can't seem to do that unfortunately, at least on my end. It's okay I ordered one today lol

  • Tempted but Tab S is still my first preference :(

    • I've decided I am going to return my Tab S (which I didn't open) from the DSE eBay deal and get this iPad.

Hope I don't regret the decision.

      • +1

Tried out the tab s at hn and it had noticeable lag when switching through apps and such. Seems samsungs bloatware is holding the tablet back. For the record, my iPad Air has never lagged.

  • got one thanks op

  • Thanks OP, bought one. Delivery is estimated at 6 Sep

  • Anyone with experience on Kogan eBay store, regarding how accurate they are with their item status (if at all).
If its sent, post up the tracking number etc…

    • +2

You will usually just receive a package one day. I have bought a lot of stuff from the Kogan eBay store, and it never shows as sent etc.

I just get a knock at the door one day and it's a package from Kogan, then a day or so later I receive a shipping confirmation email (even though item has been delivered).

They usually ship their items fairly promptly, considering the number of items they sell.

      • The estimate for my iPad is next week Friday until the 15th of September. Would I be correct in assuming that it's just a rough estimate of when it will arrive then? Most stuff I've gotten from overseas still comes quickly D:

        • I think you will receive it quicker than the estimated date. I believe Kogan do this with the dates in case their are shipping or delivery issues. If you have a look at the large number of comments in the Kogan/Apple eBay deal from June/July, most people received their items very quick.

        • @luztra:

          Sweet! Thanks mate :D

    • Well looks like they use email system from their Kogan site only, as I've received email yesterday.
And the tracking says its getting delivered today, by Toll Express.

Very good 1st experience with Kogan so far.

Oh and eBay status didn't update, not that it matters in this case.

  • is this ipad air wifi and cellular or just wifi?

  • Mine shipped today, woo!

    • emailed? or noticed on ebay?

      • +1

Email from Kogan with tracking number :) eBay hasn't set it as posted yet. Kogan have over 1000 orders to sort out so that's probably why :P

        • I got an email too, says mine is in Hong Kong…

    • still no email from kogan. i hope they're shipping out the ipads in order of purchase. i was one of the first 250 buyers…

      • In which case I doubt it, as I didn't order until Sunday, and got my email on Wednesday.

  • Any recommendations on a good and relatively inexpensive case to with the new purchase? :)

    • Target are doing a clearance on their case's if that helps.

  • +1

Mine arrived today, damm that was quick.

    • really, that's awesome

  • +1

To those who have received your delivery's, which model is it? is it the overseas one or the Australian one? Just checking as during the last deal, folks reported receiving the Australian model.

    • Overseas model - came with overseas plug and documentation but they included a Kogan travel adapter and also an AU attachment for the Apple charger brick. Works a treat and is way lighter than my iPad 4!

    • I got the Aussie model, including aus plug and documents.

They were also nice enough to add an extra AU attachment for the charger brick and kogan travel adapter.

  • Your Kogan order has left our warehouse!

    ordered mine sunday around 8:30

  • anyone from melbourne recieved theirs yet? or recieved the email that it's been sent?

    • I received a 'we missed you' card yesterday, ordered last fri/sat……so pretty quick.

  • I live in Sydney and received mine on Friday. The packaging was absurdly minimal - a single layer of bubble wrap in an unpadded plastic satchel - and as a consequence the box was badly dented and the included plug adaptor broken. I've kept mine sealed as I don't want to accept liability if I open the box and the Air is damaged. I sent a message and photos to Kogan via ebay and am awaiting a response.

I'd appreciate any advice people here might have to offer on what my next course of action should be. I'm inclined to request an exchange, as I'm concerned the Air might work okay initially, but later develop a structural problem (cracked screen etc) that wouldn't be covered under warranty. I base this concern on prior experience with an iPhone, which was dropped numerous times on various hard surfaces over a period of years, and showed no signs of damage, but later suffered a spontaneous shattering of the glass on the back surface…

    • I'd appreciate any advice people here might have to offer on what my next course of action should be.

Don't bother with a replacement 'plug adapter' from Kogan HK unless you want it for some other device.

Purchase the correct AU type 'duck tail' plug to use with the iPad AC Wall Charger that came with your iPad.

Open the box and enjoy your new iPad. Your iPhone was naked - it was not sealed in its box when dropped. The iPad was, and may not have been dropped anyway. It may have been knocked or squashed or whatever - causing the extra adapter to be broken, and the box to get a dent or two.

      • Thanks for your advice, but after examining the box of my wife's iPad, I'm even more concerned that my recently-delivered (but as yet unopened) iPad may have suffered damage. Apple packages iPads in the top of their boxes, and the edges of the iPads touch the edges of the box on all sides, with no shock absorbing material surrounding the iPads themselves. Given that the bulk of the damage to my iPad's box has occurred on the top and top edge of the box, there's a very good chance the iPad itself has taken the brunt of the impact.

I messaged Kogan, via eBay messaging, with photos of the damage and received a canned response asking me to send them photos of the problem. Hopefully someone with half a brain will read my reply message and actually look at the photos this time…

Mine was also delivered in the same manner. Can't say I'm happy.

I haven't opened mine yet as I am undecided as to whether I am going to keep it or not (thinking of selling and putting the money towards a surface pro 3).

  • +1

got mine today, comes with international plug and also australian adaptor bit

    • Congrats!!

Did the box receive any dent? Does it looks like if it has been kicked around like a soccer ball?

I hope mine arrives soon and in one piece!

  • Got a missed delivery card despite being home the whole day…

  • +1

Those of you who have received the delivery, did you first got the tracking email details? I haven't heard anything from Kogan so just wondering about my delivery status.

    • When did you order yours? Have you tried contacting them?

      • I ordered mine on Wednesday 27 August. Anyone order after 27 and have received?

        • I just received my Toll priority tracking number email. Its been shipped from Hong Kong.

        • I have received US model and included an extra AU duck head and kogan travel adapter. Box was in good condition.

      • I ordered on the 27th as well and heard nothing so far.

        • Just got mine delivered. Package is fine.

        • @maxhu: Which model did you received Australian or ?

      • hmmm… I ordered mine on 31 Aug… so I probably shouldn't be surprised that I've received nothing so far.

  • Received mine.

Looks like japanese model although the default language was Korean.

Comes with the white AU ducktail plug which is a nice touch.

Slight compression of the box but no noticeable damage per se

  • i ordered 23rd and still not received. i emailed them. and they said it is processing~ this was last week.

    • This is what Kogan has advised me…

The item you purchase will come out off of our international warehouse.
This item will usually leave the warehouse (ship) within 1-2 weeks. When it is shipped, you will be notified by email. After your item is shipped, please allow another 3-5 business days for metro delivery or 4-7 days for regional areas.

      • +1

Right after I posted this. I gout an email saying it is now posted. And I have a tracking number with toll.

        • Lucky you!! :D Hooray!

Let us know what model it is when it arrives and if it gets squashed like the other person please! fingers crossed, hopefully it arrives in excellent condition!

@nightfever: Thanks mate, ill keep everyone updated
