Samsung 7.5kg Front Load Washer $449 after $100 Cashback at The Good Guys

560

We were looking to replace our old top loader with a front loader, our top loader water usage is rated at 172L and this at 64L. I found that the goodguys have these on special and there is $100 cashback from Samsung making it $449. I bought one for myself and one for relative.
The online special is $599 but there is a further $50 discount in store.

    Cashback claim info here.

  • I bought one of these 3 months ago for $590. Great machine.

Not fond of Samsung brand in washing machines (just look at productreview site), but at this price it's a steal.

Even better if using this credit card (warranty extension) :)

    • I saw the poor reviews on there but ours is a J845 and has been an absolute beauty. Does round two loads a day and cops a floggin (hairclips, kids knick knacks and all sorts get caught in the filter thing) - about 8 years old now.

We got ours on a Sammy cashback to - expect the cash back coupon to arrive in 6-12 months.

      • +3

Our J845 quit in just under three years (purchased Sep 06, died Aug 09).

Probably more useful than these sorts of anecdotes is the Choice reliability survey. Reliability scores for washing machines ranged from 79-92% and Samsung scored 82 (9th place out of 11). Paradoxically, it has high brand loyalty, scoring third just behind Miele and Bosch, which topped both the reliability and loyalty scores. Maybe it's partly because you could buy two Samsungs for the same price.

There was 15% off on Monday - Wednesday.. totaled $508

We got Masters to Price match and beat by 10%.. $457

Take $100 off with cashback and it's $357

    That's how it's done folks

    • +9

Damn it, why didn't you post the deal?

      • +1
        • There is a comment from Snoop that Masters won't do it. You should have posted a comment there…

        • @samehada: Masters is a dysfunctional lot. We got approval for the Price Guarantee 3 days after we fired off the email. We couldn't get approval over the phone because the deal was between 7pm - 7am and the operator couldn't punch in the code. We got it in the end, but it took some persistence.

        • +1

@knackers: That is interesting to know. Maybe you could share it so we know what to do next time.

Did you buy it over the phone with Masters? or did you just buy it online? What do you mean by operator can't punch in the code? You mean you call Masters during business hour? or you went to the store? So you sent Masters email with screenshot of the deal after buying in the store?

        • @samehada: Yes I purchased over the phone last week(unaware of any deals) and attempted to Price Match on the Tuesday when the Goodguys deal came to light. Masters phone operators are open until 6pm, the deal kicked in at 7pm. It was impossible for the operator to verify if the code worked. So i was forced to fire off an email(which was time stamped when the deal was eligible).

Is this one of those cash back where you have to wait 4 months and then they say they have no records…see Acer cashback.

**oops just read hoxygt, "6- 12 months" to get your hard earned cash back.

    NO THANKS

    • "Eligible Claimants who selected to receive an EFT should allow twenty-eight (28) days from the date their claim is deemed valid by the Promoter (as referred to in clause 8 above) for the EFT to be made to their submitted bank account, and may need to allow several days thereafter for the funds to be cleared by their bank."

No way it will be 6-12 months.

      • 6-12 months was sarcasm, I think mine took a good 3 months. Chasing it up I got the reply that all the cheques had to be signed in Japan or some bs.

        • I guess a non EFT refund could take longer but this one is fully trackable.

My partner and I have two active claims and it all seems straightforward enough.

  • pricematch plus 10% off at masters: https://www.masters.com.au/product/101155968/samsung-7-5kg-f… The model number that Masters have is a typo (Confirmed with onlone chat).

Be aware that the WW75H5290EW Does not have the invertor motor that the next models up all have which from memory comes with a 10 yo warranty.

Just bought one last week at masters for $599 and thought that was a good deal with $100 cash back. Looks like I'll be putting masters 30 day price guarantee to the test.

Good luck if it breaks down. I had a similar machine that only lasted 4.5 years. Only did 2-3 loads per week too. Received TERRIBLE customer service from them, so I replaced with a Siemens and couldn't be happier. I had no idea how loud the Samsung was until I got something better.

I too will comment on the Samsung Washing machines. Had about 3 years, its rubbish. Top lid of the machine has cracked 3 times, leaks water for some reason around the tray are that the powder goes in, its rusting, and I can go on. After multiple repairs they will not do anymore on it as it is outside of warranty even though multiple machines and it is a dud.

      • Pull the tray out and give it a clean. A Samsung washer I had started doing the same. I thought it couldn't handle the amount of water coming out of the trap and had turned the tap down but a mate noticed it, pulled the drawer out and cleaned it and that was that.

        • Yep, clean the tray first.
If that doesn't fix it, turn your water tap down slightly.

I had the same issue, called Samsung who sent out a tech who tested it and then turned the tap down and it was fine. I had recently turned the tap off and disconnected the washing machine to clean behind it so it made sense.

I have a similar model (but 8kg) from 2009 (see here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/15246) and it's been great over the past 5 years.

Op what do you mean by 'there is a further $50 discount in store'- Was it a cheaper ticketed price in your specific store?

    • That is correct, the advertised price was $549 in store.

      • +1

So would Masters beat store price or the online price? Can anyone please confirm?

  • Is this one of the ones that catches fire after a few months?

I bought a $750 Samsung front loader 2 years ago and so far am very happy with it. Washes well, doesn't use much power or water. Hoping it lasts about 10 years.

    • Same situation here, very happy. This deal appears excellent for anyone after a front loader.

The only thing I've bought is a cheap sound deadening square mat. Has reduced noise during the spin cycle considerably.

I wonder why no one posted this deal 4 days ago when TGG was having 15% off for 3 days which makes it becomes $408 after cash back. This deal now is more expensive and yet still receive many positive votes…

    • +3

Wow, that's your 4th comment bitching that someone didn't post it (3 of them hammering knackers above). Sense of entitlement much? What was your reason for not posting it?

  • +1

I've had a Samsung front loader for a couple of years. Really all front loaders are 5yr machines. There too many small ingeral parts that just won't last 10years. The parts price even for a Simpson is too expensive to make repair a worthwhile exercise.

To that end I'm really happy with it. It was on a deal like this. I think buying a $1500 machine just puts you on the hook for the $400 part + labour you'll need in five years time. Whereas any troubles with something like this its time to go again. With a new better nicer looking one.

  • Do you install it yourselves?

    • It's pretty easy if you have basic hand tools. From memory, you just need to remove the 'shipping bolts' that stop the drum from rattling around (keep them in case you move house), screw-on the cold water hose and plug in to power.

    • comes with tools… remove stabilizer bolts & spacers.. connect outlet and watermains

      took me a few minutes

  • Bought mine for 399 at Betta Electrical in Springvale in January.

    • Bought mine in Jan for that price by getting GG to match some mob in Perth that was Poster, but it wasn't this model, it was WF8750LSW. Not sure if it's better or worse, specwise it looks similar enough, could have been an old model on run out.

      It's been good, cant complain

  • Any good dryer washer combo?

  • It only uses 64L of water because you're lucky to get more than a set of work clothes and a few undies in it at a time. I have one of these and it was a complete waste of money!!! If you get a front loader get at least a 9Kg machine as anything less, especially if you have a family, is a joke. If you fill it more than about 1/4 full it leaves most of the dirt and washing soap in your clothes, even using the max 5 rinse cycles.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PIECE OF CRAP!

  • Didn't know some Ozbargainers use front load machines. If you want reliability, better to go with a top load.

Yes I know toploaders use lots of water, but if you know how to recycle those water…

    • I've been debating toploader vs front loader for a while. Any particular reasons you think toploaders are more reliable? I'd be interested to find out

      • +1

From an engineering point of view I would much prefer a Front loader. The orientation of the Drum allows gravity to act as a natural dampener and the vertical forces on the bearings add to its longevity.

Traditionally the problem with front-loaders has been with the rubber seal at the front.

      • @iggs @knackers :

Interesting.. I don't know, front loader doesn't seem to give the wash any action. I have heard there are some good front loaders, but the price is out of this world. So for instance, I can get a reasonably good toploader for $200, and at that price, if you get a front loader you are pretty much asking for trouble.

Also, have browsed a lot of used washers (I'm always on tight budgets), and most of them are toploaders, 5-8 years of age and still going strong

Lastly, being a DIYer, I have a feeling toploaders is easier to repair, and can be done at home. It's like an old car, whereas frontloader is like new cars loaded with tech.

  • I paid 620 for it a few months ago, it's a very good machine (even better if you get it for 499).

  • Well I have a Samsung front loader Washer Dryer combo 7.5/4.0 KG. Had it since July 2012 and it was over $1000. Have had a 1 or 2 wash a week for a single person since then. If you read the manual, the Samsung's method of washing is to push water into the clothes and not pushing the clothes through water. I always use half scoop of front loading BioZet detergent powder for the "cotton cycle" (default cycle) because of the low amount of water it uses.

If the quick wash option is used, even less detergent is needed or else the clothes will be full of detergent at the end of the cycle. This is all stated in the manual, not word for word though.

Expired - price has gone up to $679

  • this is a good washer.. worth the money

  • -1

this is a rubbish washing machine not worth the cash and also its from The Bad Guys.. i.e. no warranty support, particularly from the likes of (Mark Sundberg) Essendon DFO or Preston who think ACCC is some kind of band.

The other thing is people need to understand Samsung reps are on this forum posting comments like the one above mine. Not specifically saying youiU is a rep but its typical of those buggers.

For unbiased facts, look to an independant researcher, such as choice mag. i.e. Samsung won the Shonky awards for their washing machines in 2012. Score ZERO for water efficiency.

    http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/awards/shonky-awa…

Better of with the cheapest nastiest unit if your going ot consider SamSTUNG.

    • Then you must be a rep for some other fabulous brand and only posting to trash Samsung, why don't you go and check other people's reports on Samsung machines?
Your post is very sus as you aren't only after Samsung but also the gg.

  • That Shonky link is for a different washing machine. the topic here is a front loader.
