    any thought on Nokia 630 vs 520?

    I got my partner a 520 for her birthday and she's happy with it and wants to get her mum one. Should we get a 630 instead? Is it a better phone or should we stick with getting an unlocked 520 ($149 at OW)?

    I'm not worried about the 630 being locked, it can be unlocked and her mum is with vodafone.

      630 is a better spec'd phone and with 8.1 on it it's def on another level to the 520, build quality however is on par with the 520 as a budget phone, at work we've moved from the 520's to the 630's now. If you have no problems with it being locked its def a better choice than the 520.

        Thanks guys, I feel more confident about recommending it now. I looked at specs but they don't necessarily tell the whole picture, eg feel, use, user experience, etc. Bit disappointed the 630 doesn't get glance either.

          I had a few at work complain that their battery would drain much faster when they had set glance on so that may have something to do with it, I've upgraded from my 820 to a 930 and i don't have glance which i used to use but didn't really notice it missing .. tap on feature is good enough for me hehehe

      My problem with both phones is that they don't have front cameras. I am frustrated with nokia for not including front camera to their low to mid range phones. How much money would they save from that? 5 cents each?

    I went to buy the 630 from Voda when it was $179, as that was a decent deal then. I was then told it would be between $50 and $100 to unlock it. What a rip!

      Yeah that would have been clearing out the older version of the Vita.

      It looks like the new Vita is insisting on being sold for $259, so this is the best deal i've seen for the new Vita so far - and it is a good deal. I'd be happy to pay $199 for a bare Vita, $25 for an 8gb card, so that's $25 for the games, which is a fair deal.

      I'm wondering if DSE will have another 20% off ebay special, as they've had 2 in a row pretty close together, and if so, if this bundle will be available on it. If this can be bought for $199 I'm definitely in.

    grabbed a display model of Macbook Pro Retina 15 late 2013 Core i7 256GB for $1599, nothing wrong and new as, the only thing I am working on is asking Apple to put warranty on and they still not getting back to me yet after I disagreed with them about 'ex demo has no warranty' response (I got a display model iMac before and got 24 month warranties, the proof is I just had my hard drive replaced without any cost after 20 months of using it). Any idea guys to make Apple kick in the warranty or I just ask DickSmith to do it for me? Thank you

    Nokia 630 is unlocked (called Vodafone to double check) but this model is the single sim version NOT the double sim model. Still better than the 520 in terms of tech specs being quad core etc

    I'm interested in the Lumia 630, but purely as a music/video player. Originally was looking to get the iPod Touch, but the Lumia 630 would be a cheaper alternative it seems, even after adding an additional microSD card.

    Any thoughts as to whether that would be a wise move? Or do people recommend the iPod Touch for media duties?

      Wise choice I reckon. $99 + $50 64gb card (or it can support 128 if you need it), vs $300-350 for a touch. Turn on aeroplane mode and the battery should last fine :)

        Does Windows 8.1 phones require a special iTunes like application to sync music or can it just drag and drop?

        Edit: Google result tells me that Windows Phone 8+ supports copy and paste via file explorer and no additional software is required.

    For the Nokia lumia 630.. some have mentioned its unlocked as stated by "vodafone"but others who have "bought" it reports that its locked..? So whats the verdict? Locked or Unlocked?

    And says if its really locked.. would vodafone provide a free unlock code if they "confirmed" its unlocked before hand?

      Headphones got one and it's locked.

      DSE specs have been updated to say its locked.

      Wouldn't trust vodafone call centre.
