        • +2

          That's because it's a catalogue special this week - at $1.59

        • +2

@odysseus: cheese supreme at our store too.

I know it's a special, but after I while you get to know specials quantities, and our store is well over that, considering the 1 day turn around on orders.
          Stockpiling for something…

        • +2

@linton: at my store we have a normal amount for promo, but not multiple pallets like others have stated

    • +9

Nah, that's the staff bonuses for 2014…

      • Is this deal for nsw-parramatta as well? I tried local store but their proces are like 2 or 3 $.

    • +1

I was at Woolworths Kelvin Grove on Tuesday night and also saw the staff bringing out large pallets of Doritos chips. Maybe this deal is legit…?

  • Mod: Please note that the OP hasn't let us know how they know this sale will occur. Please treat this as an unconfirmed deal.

Thus , we can all conclude that this deal is best suited to be posted on reddit !!

  • +1

I think it should be moved to the forums until proven, otherwise speculative posts could swamp this site. OP can always repost.

  • +3

This deal will be magic combined with the $1.04 Pepsi deal this week.

a big Doritos and Pepsi for $2 !

Coke Zero would be better but hey you take what you can get.

    • +2

sugar and salt together at last…

  • +10

    Dorito-gate.

  • I would definitely buy one first too see if its still fresh. Sometimes they are not the best of quality. And how about dipping sauce.

    • +3

Nachos is the way to go if they're not fresh. Combine one tray with 180 degrees of oven heat, Doritos plus a ton of cheese, chipotle salsa, kidney beans, mince, tomatoes, avocado, onion then top with sour cream when done. Ultimate noms!

  • +2

I bought a packet of doritos today (27/08/14) at full price. Is there anyway I will be getting reimbursed if in fact this deal is legit.

    • +1

Yes, you should go back and get half your money back if you pay full price cause it's on special(half price)until Tuesday next week.

      • If he was charged full price, they could go back for a full refund, as per the scanning policy.
That is if the special is Australia wide…

        • -1

I paid $1.59 yesterday. If they are $1 tomorrow. Will I be reimbursed. I havent opened them, and wont until I get confirmation. But right now im out of pocket.

Should be speculativebargain.com.au if we allow these lies.

          Hope its true.

        • @JPOWER:

You hope these lies are true?

  • While there are good intentions this post has too many inconsistencies to be considered seriously. Will downvote until someone confirms or OP comes back with more information. i.e. end of week - Sunday?

  • They just released the deal this week for this sale, I doubt they'll down price it again. I bet a competitor posted this to cause dissapointment :)

  • +9

Going on the pallets of Doritos our store has out the back, I wouldn't be surprised at this at all.
I know they're cheap at the moment, but the amount we have there must be something going on.
I'll see what I can find out tomorrow if the OP doesn't post confirmation.

    • +7

It may be store specific, but I just had confirmation from our grocery manager, $1 doritos tomorrow.

  • are they illegally imported from mexican border?

  • What is an unconfirmed deal doing on the front page?

    • +1

Why does the same question keep getting asked?

      • +1

Because it hasn't been answered with a valid response yet.

        • Maybe the mods let this one slide because the OP has posted deals from a Woollies IP address before??

        • +4

So a reply by a mod is not valid?

Just need to pick up some dank nugs to pair with this deal. If it does eventuate on Friday!, perf timing.

  • +6

Just asked my magic 8-ball, it said "signs point to yes". Clear +1.

  • -8

I went and asked the store manager at my local Woolies today and he advised me the special sale over the weekend will be on toilet paper again.

    • So you neg the deal without waiting one more day to see?

    • Why didn't you post it as a deal!?

    • Damn I wish I had more the 5 negs a day to give

  • +12

Whilst I can't say much more about the deal I can say that if I am wrong then ozbargain can ban my IP and delete my account…. BUT if I'm right then all skeptics need to inbox an apology to me. What possible gain do I have from posting a bullshit deal?

    • -1

BUT if I'm right then all skeptics need to inbox an apology to me

Well, no. We have the right to question this deal as you are unable to say much on it and no one is able to 100% confirm this price. Hence, treating this deal as unconfirmed is correct.

    • +6

Whilst I can't say much more about the deal

Why not? Can't you tell us how you know about the deal.

ozbargain can ban my IP and delete my account

What would anyone possible gain from this?

BUT if I'm right then all skeptics need to inbox an apology to me.

We don't have to do anything for you, if you don't provide concrete evidence how do you expect us not to be skeptical?

What possible gain do I have from posting a bullshit deal?

No one could possibly gain anything from a Distributed Denial of Service attack on ozbargain but they still do it.
Who know? people do thing for no ridiculous reason sometime.

If you are scare that providing your source for this deal might get you in trouble for what ever reason, you can confide in the mod and ask them to mark the deal as confirm. Everything can be done in confidential.

    • +1

No one gives a shit if you are lying or telling the truth.

The argument is an unconfirmed deal should never be allowed.

    • +3

      I say good on you.

This is a real bargain, in the spirit of the site, that is likely to be sold out soon, so if true OzBargainers are in the box seat.

      Game on!

  • The odd thing is, why would they have a sale on top of a sale. It's already half price special this week

    • +1

      Maybe there was a typo.

      e.g. I'll have 300000 boxes (not 30000)

      ;)

  • Entertaining discussion. +1

  • -4

Its confirmed that they are $1.59 NOT $1….so update it MOD please!

    • Uhh they are currently half price for $1.59 as a normal weekly special. $1 is the somewhat confirmed price for the super weekend special for them.

    • someone needs to really get a life

  • For me, cool ranch was a bit of a disappointment. I wanna be MLG but they don't taste that good.

  • +8

Confirmed at my store, $1 tomorrow.

  • +2

    Confirmed.

Edit: I shouldn't need to tick associated if I'm a friend of a woolies member right?

  • +26

Uh Oh, don't tell me TIKS has been on the money the whole time!

For over a year I have had great deals come past me in different forms, through work and friendships…. I always think I should post them here if they are worthy….. For once I did and what a bloody crap fight that has been.

I get that we are all on here looking to save a $$ and enjoy a bargain, but SOME, not all, but SOME of you are dead set mongrels and don't deserve a damned thing!

A Bargain is defined as "a thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected." So in my thoughts it is something that you NEVER EXPECTED to get, or at least for the price you paid. Some of you act like it is your bloody god given right to that product at that price.

I think I will save my effort and time next time and not bother. Hopefully the Karma train takes the great people on OB to places they want at a discounted price, and takes the right royal pricks to bankruptcy!

Oh, Legs of Lamb will also be $6.99 at WW for the next 11 days.

    Love TIKS.

    • +5

Post these deals all the time! Love em! I never doubted you!

    • +1

You posted a 'NEVER EXPECTED' deal 2 days before it goes live with nothing to back it up but a couple of comments that can be assumed that you work at Woolies, what did you expect with nothing solid to back it up? I too am surprised it was allowed to stay but i'll leave that judgement to the mods.

On the other hand, it's also surprising to see them drop the price even lower for the weekend considering it's already at half price, not that us doritos loving people will mind…

I didn't doubt you personally as it would be silly to post this and for it not to happen but you can see why people have negged it surely, this deal is very much in the grey area of whether it should of stayed or not..

      • +3

Would OB prefer me post solid info/pics based on what I have been given/told/informed and potentially cost somebody/people their jobs just so they can get a cheap pack of chips?

I guess its not "conventional" OB style, but when did humanity lose the ability to simply "trust someone"

        • I think you would be ok now, you've posted a confirmed deal as well as a few other comments, it's safe to say you work at Woolies.

The issue i think is if, for example, i still worked at IGA and posted their late week specials a couple days beforehand when i would find out, even if it is 100% true, i might not have any deals/comments to back it up and hence the deal is closed as a 'unconfirmed deal'.

That's the way i'm seeing all this personally anyway.

Edit: Thanks for letting us know about the doritos, i look forward to buying a heap tomorrow.

        • +1

@happychild100: All good, I get where you are coming from and think next time I will hold back on posting. Cheers.

        • Again as i posted above.

If you are scare that providing your source for this deal might get you in trouble for what ever reason, you can confide in the mod and ask them to mark the deal as confirm. Everything can be done in confidential.

How are we suppose to know that your insider knowledge/source was confidential and would cause you or someone trouble?

All i did was to ask for some clarification and all you had to do was to include a line saying:

I know about this through an a source that would not want to be identify or something similar and we would probably accept it.

You could also show the mod the evidence or next time talk to a mod first before posting an unconfirmed deal. You should have no problem with "trusting" the mod would you?

I have revoke my negative vote since this deal is more likely than not legit. But you could have handle this way better than calling us mongrel, demanding unreasonable apology, and throwing and tantrum like a 5 years old.

          Have a nice day!

    • +5

Don't let the neggers bring you down - if this turns out to be true, (which the evidence points toward it being a genuine deal) you will have the last laugh.
The positive votes heavily outnumber the negative ones to give you an indication of where the community stands on this.

      Thanks for sharing.

    • Put a pin in that ballooned ego mate. Almost no one doubted you. They simply asked for proof, because no unconfirmed deal has ever been able to stay on the front page for so long.

It was more an attack on the mod than you.

      Sheesh.

    • -1

      Are you related to theearth?

  • +1

I had no view on whether it would eventuate but loved the speculation. I reserved my judgement until confirmation.

Appreciate the deal and the advanced notice TIKS!!! Keep up the good work!

Also, thumbs up for moderating effectively based on known tracked record of "insider knowledge" on deals.

  • +1

Please don't be deterred from listing more deals. Will legs of lamb be $6.99 in WA as well? What the normal price on those?

Thanks for the heads up on the Doritos. I will be sure to grab some tomorrow.

    • I presume WA have the legs of lamb for that price but I am only presuming, definitely in VIC they will be that.

  • +3

Obviously some people would have preferred OP share proof of the deal to users or even a mod (taking the reddit model of confirming in AMAs).
I personally do not think that sharing insider information is necessary for a site like this because it will lead to team members, managers of the store who have provided that information to be abused.

In this case, Ozbargainers even those who have negged will most likely have NOT bought doritos after seeing this. I'm sure everyone who has seen this will have decided to wait and see if this deal comes true and then go buy it.
Negs are undeserved but insider deals should be discussed between the moderators and Admins.

    Pros of having insider deals:
People who have seen this will have saved 59c per packet as they will have waited until Friday onwards to purchase.
You guys do not lose anything except maybe missing out on buying these for two days.

    Negatives of insider deals:
Obviously some are false and people end up being disappointed.

    Etc etc

    • +1

Why only a "+" or "-" button, we need a "sensible" button. Most sensible comment throughout this whole dorito ordeal. lol

      • -5

If this sort of information is likely to get staff or companies into trouble, then it shouldn't be shared. Simple as that.

Stop making yourself out to be some sort of (profanity) hero dude.

        • So I presume with your Morale highground you have never taken advantage of anything in life? Such as pricing errors etc posted on OB?

  • +1

Does anyone here know the best before date on these? Was thinking of buying 50 packs for a fundraiser in mid September.

    • -1

C'mon, it's not a big bag. Look around for it, not hard to find

    • I'm sure you'd be fine.

    • 20 weeks date life on our products

  • +4

I am going to buy 10 packets of doritos tomorrow and throw them like ninja stars into the faces of all TIKS's critics. You doubting scumbags deserve neither bargains nor doritos.

    • +7

and yet you haven't + the deal..

      • Amen.

      • I don't actually like Doritos.

But if I did, they would taste extra sweet as they would be seasoned with the sauce of your embarrassment.

        Good day Sir.

  • +3

I love doritos … but got a stockpile in my pantry already. True story.

Thanks OP! I'd prefer 2 days warning and speculation. It's a bag of freakin corn chips for goodness sakes not life saving essential chemotherapy for your child that you can't afford unless it's 59% cheaper.

  • +1

So I heard Dorito's might be on sale?

  • +1

    $1

  • +3
