If your tech guy is back from holidays can we please get a definitive answer regarding the 2830 processor in the Celeron NUC?
Last time there were people certain that they had received it.

    • +2

Yup - checked with him and we don't have 2830 in the Celeron NUC, at least not on those assembled ones.

      • is there another way to tell if its 2830 from the NUC box since its not assembled they haven't open the box.

      • Would you be able to ask your tech if there is an SA number in the bottom of the box. What I understand is that if it says something like Version # H22962-103 or # H22962-203 it should have the new N2830 processor.

    • there is word that intel are slowly starting to roll out the 2830s now, as they held them back to allow stores to clear their 2820 stock first.
the Intel media release said they would start shipping summer 2014 (July here I guess)

Any chance for ridiculously discounted routers?

    It shows $599.

    If I buy separately now:
    Intel Nuc i5 - $409
    4gm memory $44
    Wifi AC $25
    Samsung 840 120gb ssd $82
total $560 still free shipping and scratchie, am i right?

Rep, are the two above different? or am I missing anything?

    • I think that one is already assembled

      • I see.
Is it hard to assemble them yourself? just open and plug it in?
Sorry, never experience with this NUC and still contemplating to buy this NUC or just get a laptop.

    • Assembled NUCs will be tested & updated to latest bios - meaning DOA situations will be kept at minimum with possible chances only during transit.
We have also include a Power Cable for NUC (i3 & i5 models do not come with the power cable).

      Cheers

  • Hi Rep

Any chance of the N54L on special as well? Missed out on the last offering and am keen to land one to replace my QNAP TS-212.

    Thanks

  • will the n2820 be powerful enough to stream video from a plex server?

    • +1

Stream video or decode the video? I would say yes to decode the video as I have had Plex client running on a Rasp Pi and that was coming as a direct stream from a TS-212.

The 212 cannot transcode as it is too low powered and I had no issues with the pi playing the 1080p that got thrown at it.

  • Any idea if a Celeron would be good enough for a Steam Streaming box? Would the Celeron N2820 be enough?

    • yes it is. A lot of people were saying 720p is flawless 6 months ago, and now that you can designate the host to do the grunt work people are saying 1080p is also alright

      • Awesome! Now I just have to decide if I want to go with an Intel NUC or that Asus Chromebox. I'll be using Xubuntu + Steam for now, but if I'm feeling up to it, I'll put Steam OS on there.

  • Your advertised savings are in breach of fair trading laws. E.g. 13% saving advertised for the gigabyte brix, when in fact it is only a $10 saving or roughly 1.8%…

  • You guys might be better off with a Chromebox than a NUC (see previous deals).

  • +1

Maybe I've missed it but what's the value of the scratchie?

    • +1

There is no value for it - we are giving it out at our own cost to customers for Father's Day Promotion :).
If you managed to be the lucky one - you have no obligations to thank us for sending you the lucky scratchie :P.

      Cheers

I think he means is it a $1 scratchie or a $5 scratchie (if you can get $5 ones).

Being a true OZB I suspect to see just how good a bargain it all is.

  • Great price Shopping Express but Windows cost kills the deal.
