I hate the Subscription Licensing …

    • +2

It usually works out cheaper if you're going to install it on 2 or more pc's…

      • +1

Depends on how often you upgrade…
I find Office 2003 still quite decent :-)

    • This is why I've stuck with Office 2010.

      • +4

Nothing to do with Office… 1TB per user (up to 5 users) for AU$9.92/m… lulwot

        • Well, it does have something to do with Office: "includes the latest full Microsoft Office applications"
But it's priced competitively to Dropbox and Google. Also I haven't done large speed tests for anything but Dropbox (slow), but I'd dare say Microsoft have the data closer to home.

          Mileage may vary: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/158810#comment-2207960

  • Officeworks sells this for $99, that's 20 dollars cheaper than this.

    • And that $99 is for a whole year.

      • I believe it's actually $98 :)

        • +1

Yes you are right $98 for one year of Office 365. And if you're a tertiary student you can also get Office 365 University 4 years for the same $98 price.

        • +1

          @hollykryten:

          Only for 2 computers though… from memory…

    • It doesn't look like Officeworks includes the 1TB cloud storage.

      • +2

Don't really go by what the specs off the Officeworks web site says it's a bit outdated since that's the specs from the very original Office 365 build. Office 365 auto installs the very latest available build when you install and it downloads and also auto updates itself.

I believe the 1TB of OneDrive storage is now a standard feature of Office 365 no matter where you buy it from. So yes it does have it.

SkyDrive was changed to OneDrive some time ago after the original Office 365 release came out and the storage for Office 365 was upgraded to 1TB. This is a relevant article about that. http://www.zdnet.com/office-365-subscribers-now-have-access-…

    • Not the same product.

  • +6

    Why is this a bargain?

It's always been this price on the Microsoft website for 1TB since back in June…

    http://www.theverge.com/2014/6/23/5833808/onedrive-free-stor…

    • +2

It is not a bargain. Found for cheaper in stores.

      • Not the same product, not 5 licences with 5 TB of storage. If it is cheaper in store please name the store it on Ozbargain.

        • Yes it is the same product and the 5 user and 1TB per user OneDrive storage is now a standard feature of Office 365 Home Premium it doesn't matter where you buy it from off the Microsoft online store or retail. Office 365 Home Premium 1 year is $98 from Officeworks. http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/microsoft-off…

Microsoft Store AU online is charging an extra $21 for Office 365 Home Premium 1 year well because they can and idiots who don't know how to shop around pay the price.

        • @hollykryten: Funny, if you read that link it clearly says "An extra 20 GB of online storage in Skydrive (27 GB total)." If you then look at the comparison table it says the same thing.
Can please show the link where it actually says that you get 5x1Tb storage for that deal? Why wouldn't OW update their advertising if this is the case?

Do you get the point? I think it is a bit harsh to be saying people are idiots when the product being offered says absolutely nothing about the 1Tb. Good for you if you knew about it but I don't think that it has been widely advertised, obviously OW and a lot of other retailers haven't picked up on it. That's a total upgrade from 100gb to 5Tb. I have been a Skydrive subscriber for over a year and there was a minor 2x storage upgrade but not a 50x upgrade.

        • @RustyStainless:

Because OW is slack and they hadn't bothered updated the page since the original Office 365 Home Premium specs were released. You see SkyDrive no longer even exists it was changed to OneDrive after the original Office 365 build which that original Office 365 build no longer exists either because there's been many builds of Office 365 since. And once you activate the Office 365 using the product key you get immediate access to the very latest Office 365 build through the download.

And did you read the article from a few comments above saying that how Microsoft updated all Office 365 subscriptions to OneDrive with 1TB of storage per user?. All means all no matter when and where you bought the product key. Microsoft updated it back in June 2014 for all existing and future Office 365 subscription activations.

"All versions of Office 365, Microsoft’s subscription version of Office, will now come with 1TB of OneDrive space. That’s a huge increase from the previous 20GB offering, and for Office 365 Home subscribers that means 1TB per person (up to five family members) for $9.99 a month."

          http://www.theverge.com/2014/6/23/5833808/onedrive-free-stor…

You can buy an Office 365 Home Premium product key from Officeworks for $98 and i can guarantee 100% that once you activate the product key you'll get access to OneDrive with 1TB of storage per person with the Office 365 1 year subscription.

There is no so called special 1TB OneDrive version of Office 365 Home Premium. It's all verions of Office 365 bought from any where.

So yes you are an idiot if you pay $119 for Office 365 Home Premium when it is easily bought from retailers for $98. TGG also has it going for the $98. http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Microsoft_Office_365…

        • @RustyStainless:

"That's a total upgrade from 100gb to 5Tb. I have been a Skydrive subscriber for over a year and there was a minor 2x storage upgrade but not a 50x upgrade."

You only get the 1TB per user storage on OneDrive if you're an Office 365 subscriber. Free standalone OneDrive accounts come with 15GB of storage. Besides SkyDrive no longer even exists so SkyDrive is not even relevant. Go take it up with Officeworks for being too slack to update their Office 365 Home Premium page.

As i said there is no special version of Office 365 which comes with 1TB of OneDrive storage. All purchases of Office 365 online or in store at retailers come with it no matter what the retailers own page may be saying.

    • I just wanted to join in on the trend :)

With JV here. Not a deal. What's with the MSO365 spam?

    • But it hasn't been posted here before. Until today. Twice!

      • +2

But it hasn't been posted here before.

        and it's not a bargain either…

    • I agree jv. It should be in the forums.

    • I agree. I migrated off Dropbox to this ages ago. Its the same price it has been. Dropbox, Google and Microsoft all offer discounts for paying yearly and committing rather than month by month. No deal!

I got my last one from MSY for $88.

http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=office+365+… has heaps that give 1 year for less than $100

Even if OfficeWorks etc have old packaging which doesn't mention the 1TB storage, it is automatic when you activate Office 365 regardless of the packaging.

Keep in mind also that as soon as the year is up, you need to pay again to continue using it, or essentially your online and installed versions become very expensive limited functionality software (the tablet versions become read only, and the desktop installed versions lose functionality).

Sorry, but no deal as far as I can see.

    • Yes the install always automatically installs the very latest build. No problems there. You'd just get a product key in the retail package to register it onto an Office 365 account to install it through the internet.

    • Looking at the Statice, I checked the Computer Alliance example, only the $99 Premium version offered 5 licences and it only offered 20Gb of storage.
1Tb vs 20Gb - that's not the same is it?

      • That's just lazy on their behalf. Office365 now comes with 1TB OneDrive space for each user, no matter what the packs say. Existing customers who had the online pack or subscription before the upgrade from 20GB to 1TB also got the upgrade automatically.

  • +2

This isn't a deal, this is a normal price. MSY offer the same deal for around ~ $85.

    • link?

      • +1

        have you tried google msy?

        http://www.msy.com.au/pc-components/10206-microsoft-6gq-0001…

I have 4 x 365HP pack super cheap ….I am thinking should i just sell them or use them til 2019.

        • Deal still available to get them super cheap?

Amazon.com sells it for $64 (but they don't ship to Oz - would need a service / friend in US as you only need the activation code).

Any restrictions on OneDrive use? # files, file size up to 10GB now I think?

Seems like a great deal for 1-5 TB of cloud storage (back-up) + Skype + Office!

        • +1

@ethanol: I ended up cancelling my subscription and bought it in store from Megabuy for $89.00. I did go to an MSY store but they were queued up out the door so I left (probably other OzB's getting 365, hehehe).

  • +1

I got OW to price match Dick Smith at the weekend ($99 - $20 discount) = $79 - 5%, so $75 which works out to about $6.25 a month. Bargain - thanks for putting me onto this!
