They never run out of Avatar. Just add water? Pity the broden who bought 100copies in feebay. He can't flip those

    • +2

      Just add water?

      pretty sure that was gremlins

      • +5

Youre right, Avatar you dont feed after midnight

    • +3

I don't pity the brodens. They take a risk like everyone else in business.

Only worse since they're aiming to resell without providing any additional service.

  • +1

missed out on all the ebay ones, happy finally now can get my hands on one through the store $4.98, added bonus had a $5.00 woolies gift card to use.

  • Avatar show out of stock

    • Did for me too with Paypal, went through second time I tried with CC

    • Just ordered then. Went fine.

    • +1

Has anyone got a confirmation yet of Avatar? Still waiting for mine..

      • Some people have picked up their copies already from store

  • Good deal on Avatar. When did DS Click and Collect move to online payment instead of in-store? Prefer the old option.

  • Ok.. varta vs eneloop ?

    • Just get the Fujitsu 4 x AA for same money also @ DSE. Oh wait, they arent delivered, just click and collect.

    • +3

      varta = shit

      • Reasoning?

        I use Varta in all my flashes (600ex x 2 + 580exii x 2) and triggers (yn-622c x5) and have not had an issue in the past 2 years…

Thanks for the heads up OP, got a few more spares.

        • i bought a 4pck of them, after 12 months they failed to hold any decent charge after sitting on the shelf for a few weeks.

    • I got mad at my mum the other day for buying the wrong ones. I wanted the eneloops but when I saw the ones she bought I said THIS IS VARTA!

      • Don't get mad at your Mum, she was doing you a favour, amongst brining you into the world and raising you.

        • +1

Lol my mum didn't actually buy anything. I just wanted to make a really bad Sparta joke.

        • @Guybrush57: I'd be annoyed that she decided to name me "Guybrush" (says shmahoo!)

    • I've never had experience with the Eneloop, but have never had a problem with this particular 2100 Varta battery. Use them in the wii remotes at home, as well as the mac keyboard and wireless mouse, and they last ages, and don't take long to recharge on the charger.

I find the higher 2500 Varta not as good though (the dark green label), don't last as long in the same devices.

Regarding this deal, I checked online and none of the local stores were showing in stock, walked into my local at lunch and they them in stock, and they scanned at the in store checkout for $9.98, so I bought the last two packs on the shelf. I guess they don't bother maintaining in store stock for batteries online.

      • i bought a 4pck of them, after 12 months they failed to hold any decent charge after sitting on the shelf for a few weeks.

        • +1

Not the same experience for me on the light green 2100, I have at least 12 in use at home. Mine hold charge in wii remotes for months (gets used infrequently on weekends), and in other toys. The mac is used most of the day every day and batteries are ok in the keyboard and mouse for a good couple of weeks.

Just don't buy the dark green ones has been my experience.

        • Its a guess, but are you sing the same charger? If yes, that might be the issue. Its likely a dumb charger (charges for a set time like 2100ma worth) and can not put the full charge into the green ones (2500ma). Crap charger for any battery really, but as long as the ones youre using are always flat it will do OK. Partial flat batteries put on charge will be harmed over time though as they will get the full 2100, but only need say 1200, the rest is just heat in the cell.

But I would just buy the Fujitsu, Fujitsu own the business (Twicell) that makes Eneloops anyway. DSE had(s) them for the same price. Yes yes Panasonic, its way more complicated than that.

        • Yeah, could be the charger I suppose, but it's the Varta LCD charger (that comes with 4 x 2100 batteries). It takes varying times to charge and has a display showing the charge.

I've wanted to get into Eneloops as that is what all ozbargainers want, I've just been too late on the good Eneloop deals with the charger! So in the meantime I'm happy enough with this deal.

        • Turns out they are a smart charger anyway…

    • +1

I love the Varta's. I am a sports photographer on the side so I use speedlites a lot. Everyone in my circle of photographers raved about Eneloops for speedlites. I was running both them and Varta's and I got more pops from the Varta's per charge. I also use their 15 min fast charger.

    • The Varta LSD's are good batteries (capacity, charge-retention), but don't buy them unless cheaper than the (ever-on, or imminent) Eneloop deals, or (the hopefully to become regular) Fujitsu deals.

They do have a slightly higher capacity than standard Eneloops, but greater cell variation (at least as regards the Japanese-made 'loops) and slightly lower voltage during the discharge-curve. More important than outright capacity (for me, anyway).

Two particular issues, beyond them just not being quite as good, from my perspective…
If you have a Maha C-9000 charger, battery-wrap catches on the negative contact, and second is that the diameter of the Vartas is slightly greater than other AA's, so a bit of a squeeze in some battery compartments and holders.

  • Unfortunately we are unable to fulfil your entire Click and Collect order for 1 Avatar 3D BluRay from Emporium. We have updated your order to reflect the maximum quantity available.

That's what it says when I try to go to check out after adding Avatar to my basket. Tried a few stores now. They all say in stock.

Edit: I tried a couple more times and it eventually worked

  • Thanks! I missed out the last offer but got it this time.. hehe

  • I bought Avatar with no drama. Thanks OP

    • +1

Is it any better than the movie with drama?

    • The drama comes later :/

  • +2

Thanks OP, good deal, except I'll believe it when I see it.

I tried ordering Avatar 3D and everything seemed to go through smoothly, but so far I have never succeeded in having a Click & Collect transaction follow through at DSE. Every time they cancel the order after a few days or a week. We'll wait and see. I used PayPal so it'll be easy to lodge a dispute if necessary. An order I placed with them in July last year is still showing up as 'Awaiting Fulfillment' so their system is completely screwed.

We wait and see! If it arrives in my hands eventually, great deal. If not, thanks anyway for the effort!

    • +1

amen, dick smith has canceled so many of my orders. They never refund unless you demand it

  • Thanks Trent86

  • Why does it say iPhone charger, but it says "Compatible with: Sony Ericsson S30" same with all other websites on google, I don't think it's an actual iPhone charger? :-/

  • Anyone else notice the image for Avatar says its a promotional copy, not for resale?

      • Ok? I didn't say anything about the 2D/3D aspect.

My comment was highlighting the fact that Dick Smith are selling a promotional product which clearly states that its not for resale. It's been years since I worked retail (specifically CD/DVD sales) but any spare promotional product we either had to give away for free or destroy.

        • +2

Well then they are breaking the rules.

        • true - was killing 2 birds with 1 stone :)

btw it's not illegal to sell promo products not meant for resale

    • Yep. They shouldn't be selling this, but for $5 I'm not complaining :) Picked mine up today.

  • Anyone who's got this promo edition already is this just the 3D blu ray version or is the 2D blu ray version included also? I'd like both formats.

    EDIT: already answered thanks tonester.

  • Awesome, thanks TRENT86! Finally can watch Avatar in 3D, now to find the damn glasses ;)

  • +1

Dont hold your breath on the Avatar disc ,i ordered it last time then a week lated got a cancellation notice saying some bullshit like they couldnt supply it.

  • We just bought Avatar blu ray 3D $19.98 at JB HiFi two days ago and thought that a good price, so you have struck on a good deal there for that classic.

Can heartily recommend Gravity for the 3D enthusiast. Trouble for us is to find the time to watch all these new 3Ds … we will get there eventually!

    • +1

I have just completed a click and collect at my local DS store.
Hope it all works okay and then I can return the JB purchased item for a refund. Quite a fan of JB but a bargain is a bargain!

  • Trying to get Avatar and do click & connect, City and all north shore store are sold out :(

    • Bugger :(

  • Last time, they canceled my Avatar order due to no stock.

  • Just got an "Order Cancelled" email 20mins after the initial Order Acknowledgement for the Avatar 3D blu ray.

"We regret to inform you that with the details you have provided we have been unable to verify that order XXXXXXX was placed by the authorised card holder. As such we have chosen to cancel this order."

Pretty sure i put all my details in correctly.. Anyone else experiencing the same?

  • Avatar apparently available at Hervey Bay, will find out this arv.

Will be the first 3D blu-ray to use with my Xbox One.

  • WOW, this is a surprise, already have a confirmation text saying the blu-ray is ready to be collected in store. Didnt expect it to be that quick. An excuse to get out of the house then

    • Always a nice surprise. I made a click and collect order with MSY last week, about 30 mins before they were due to close (was planning on getting it the next day). About 3 minutes later, I got confirmation that it was ready for pick up. Decided to take on the traffic and had it in my hands about 20 minutes after the inital order. Fastest turn around I've experienced.

  • I received a call from Dick Smith Emporium saying I had to come in and they will refund me the money as they are out of stock of Avatar 3D!

    • Bummer. I picked mine up from there today.

  • last time ordered Avatar 3D online to pay n pick up inshore…still waiting for confirmation…don't think they are gonna send any…will try and see this time
    Thanks OP

    • Oh well….sold out around my area

Already have email from the store to say Avatar is ready to pick up… cheering :)

  • Avatar 3D showing sold out for all stores around western Sydney.

  • Can't even view some of these product pages anymore. Dick just gets worse and worse.

  • Where is the DVD Micro LG DAB+ gone?

  • How do you fit a 3D disk into a 2D slot?

    • Is the slot just a black line?

Remember when i got Avatar 3D as part of the pana tv deal. Flipped that for a pretty penny. Some were paying 300 for it. Now its $5. LOL

    • -1

$300 for a copy of Avatar??

      cough-BS-cough

      • Yes Avatar 3D. This was years ago mind you, when Pana had exclusive rights for a year or something. I didn't sell mine for that much but some that sold earlier were going for that much. Once more people got the tv with the deal, more came on ebay and lowered the cost to around 80-100

  • DS in Fremantle have 3 Avatar 3D on shelf.

  • They gave me a non-3d copy at first, but lucky I double checked it, and then they went and got a 3D copy. Nice.

  • Thanks op. Ordered Avatar last night and picked up a copy tonight.

    • Glad to see everyone is getting the copy of Avatar :)

  • Think avatar is sold out. Page won't load

  • +1

Got my Avatar disc today. Funny though that it's clearly labelled to be for promotional use and not for sale.

    • Thanks Dick :)

    • still waiting for my 'go pick it up' email. Should i just ring the local store and bypass the wait, or will that be a waste of time?
