      • Yes. At least in all the years of buying and selling online this is only the second time I can remember something like this happening. The last time was with Amazon and they just expedited a new item to me so there was no dramas. Eventually the lost item showed up so that was a bonus. Not holding my breath for that level of service from DWI though…

    • Received response from DWI:

We apologize if the dispatch has taken longer than the regular. It is due to the number of orders received due to the recent promotions on eBay, hence, may take longer than others to ship out. We have still inquired the whereabouts of your parcel just in case.

For now, we suggest to wait for an update on their website, hopefully this should be updated later today :)

Hmmm I don't find it 100% clear but let's hope this means they will actually update me when they hear anything else…

      • Bugger, you said yours was coming to Perth aswell yeah? I didn't think I'd see mine until tomorrow at the earliest. Hmm now I'm a bit concerned lol..

        • Yep Perth. I think it was scaneed in Perth but never made it to the regional office.

  • I've just received my black 64gb today after ordering on Monday morning.
Had the "received by Aus Post in Chullora" since Monday. So it took around 3 days to get to Adelaide.

    • yours didn't have any updates till it reached your hands?

so i guess it pretty much depends on luck if any updates get scanned..

      • Pretty much.

        • Mon 22 Sep 2014 13:46 Received by Australia Post CHULLORA NSW
        • Thu 25 Sep 2014 06:16 With Australia Post for delivery today ADELAIDE AIRPORT SA

    • Also in Adelaide. Just received 16GB version 16:00 25/9 after ordering on 15/9.

I am at work and my mum just happened to be walking past my house when the courier was delivering. He didn't even ask for a signature or ID. Shocking.. How on earth do you just give a parcel to a random person in front of the house. It could have been anyone.

I am still disappointed tracking said it was in NSW on 22/9 and took 3 days to get to Adelaide.

  • My black Diztronic case came today. Simply awesome with the phone.

  • Ordered Monday 15/09 3PM EST

    Its simply taking TOO LONG!

  • Mine was marked for delivery this morning. Didn't receive anything all day. Gave Australia Post a ring. Said it's with the driver and wait until 5:30 when drivers knock off. If it's not arrived, ring in the morning. Just checked the site and apparently it was delivered, but it's gone to another suburb, and delivered after 5:30. Wtf? Never experienced this before.

    • Call them.

131318, choose inquire about tracking and then other (dial 4)

      • I tried. Will have to try in the morning. Says they're closed at the moment.

        • Just got an update after ringing. Apparently it was signed for by someone 20 minutes away at 6 when the shut at 5:30. I'm on a main highway, the other address is secluded. No way it was delivered to a mistaken address. Also, the signature was an a totally different surname, a short Asian name. I'm pissed. There's an investigation being opened. Contacting the dispatch centre here in South Australia and getting the driver info. Told to contact DWI. Playing the waiting game now.

For those that have received, is there anything on the packaging indicating there's an expensive phone inside? Can anyone offer any further advice?

        • @Captain Howdy: That sucks…

        • +3

          @Captain Howdy:
An update - I must be lucky because the situation has been rectified! Spoke to the postie personally and he explained what happened. Basically was a computer screw up. I received the phone. So bloody happy! Fully expected to have lost it going by Australia Post customer service. Phone itself is fantastic. Also came with a sim adapter and power adapter. Yellowing is minimal at best, possibly not even there (placebo taking effect maybe). Anyone still waiting, I feel your pain. Hopefully it's with you soon.

        • @Captain Howdy:

          Great outcome!

          Did someone open your package?

        • +3

          @millzy:
No, it was never delivered in the first place. He was a owned under yesterday and didn't start delivering until 11:30. Said he knew he wouldn't have time that day so intended on doing it the next. He said there's some device they use to mark the package to denote delivery at a later date. When it pops up on the computer it's recorded as a delivery for some reason. He said he hates it and I agreed its stupid. Told him I apologise if he got in trouble. He thanked me. Later rang up Australia post and closed the case. Expressly told them I didn't want the driver reprimanded and it was a mixup. A note was passed on with the instructions. He's a good guy and never done me wrong.

        • @Captain Howdy:
unless he intended to steal it but got scared when the case opened, does the box show whats inside or just blank?

        • @phor8:

Nah, I know this particular postie. He wouldn't be stealing. His story made sense when he told me. The OnePlus box was inside a generic plastic envelope. You'd have no idea.

  • +2

Australia Post is just plain hopeless.

"Pickup information is usually confirmed within 24 hours." This means I can get it delivered before it is marked as delivered. Go figure..

    • Well it can be marked as delivered before it is actually delivered… But it should say when is it expected to be delivered or even scanned at a close depot.

  • Still haven't got mine. Called up Aus Post, they said next week Tuesday WTH!

    • +1

      Auspost sucks a fat one.

When the Missus received the OPO package the guy walked off and jumped into his car.

Missus had to yell out to see if she had to sign for it, dopey bastard. He came back and she signed..

Also, with my Diztronic case. On my track and trace it had some random suburb for the delivered address(luckily I still received it).
The OPO had my correct suburb for the track & trace.

      • wow… now I am scared. Do they just leave it there if no one is home? I'll be at work all next week!

        • Should be okay.

I should clarify, he didn't just leave the OPO package at the front door he knocked and just gave it to the missus without asking for a signature. I'm guessing he would have taken it if she didn't answer. Just the no Signature bugged me.

    • What state are you in?

  • +2

Finally….got my OPO….thx to AusPost it took 5days from Chullora to Seven hills it took them 5 day……i could have walked to Chullora 5 time in that many days……

  • +1

I got mine and it's pretty awesome. Better than I expected. I think it's got some yellow tinting but nothing worth worrying about.

    • -1

Yep. All of them have a very very slight yellow tint at bottom, it's common in large LCD devices, especially phones where you have limited room for the backlight LEDs at the bottom due to all the other bits there. There may have been some OPO units out there within unusually large problem perhaps, but for the most part it's just people over analysing what they see as an otherwise perfect device.

      • no i don't think this is acceptable

if true then it occur for note 3 etc..

As other have said, it is due to the glue

  • Just curious, but would anyone regret buying this phone vs nexus 6 if it had similar and/or better specs?

ie 4k screen, 805 cpu etc..

    • +3

Please tell me you're not going to port this discussion over from whirlpool to here now…

    • I've being reading some stuff about nexus 6, would anyone prefer nexus 6 over opo if it had these specs?

      http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/mobile-phone/3508162/nexus-6…

Hopefully this means delivered to my work office. Will check soon.

        • +2

Got mine a couple of hours ago too. Coming from an iphone 4, this is absolutely brilliant.

        • Lucky! I ordered Monday and its still in NSW.

  • time to ring auspost..

    • +1

nothing today… apparently auspost saying it will be delivered tomorrow.. still says online its just been received by auspost in nsw..

  • Lol it's a public holiday here in WA today, no mail.

  • +2

This is the 3rd comment I've made about the battery life, but holy crap…at 5 hours screen on time and still have 40% remaining!

    • +1

      Haven't charged mine for 40 hours… still has 8% left (4hr 30m screen time).

      • +1

Mine died after about 28 hours with 7.5hours screen time. Ridiculous compared to my n5.

  • Just curious… I'm with Vaya using the Oneplus One… but I can't seem to get any 3G or 4G data… anyone else having a similar problem with Vaya on the Oneplus One?

    • I'm using the OnePlus with Vaya. Sometimes I'm on LTE (aka 4G). This is in Melbourne though.

  • Does anyine have problems with the flash light gesture which involves drawing a v. I find that it will not react sometimes and will cause a blink effect. And sometimes music and the flash light will randomly turn on when the phone is unlocked.

    • +2

Yes with the flashlight gesture. It seems sometimes it takes a while for the gesture to register. So you click it again and it turns on and off. Now that I have it in a case I don't use gestures other than the double click to unlock.

      • Yeah I don't use any of the gestures other than the double tap to wake. Heard heaps of people having issues with the other gestures so turned em off pretty much straight away.

      • Now that you mention it, the flashlight gesture is a little temperamental.
I've also noticed that some of the gestures can activate you are walking around with the phone in your pocket.

        • From my use of the phone for almost a week the music gestures always work for me same with the double tap on and off. I did notice that the flash light was very iffy, But I started making big V's (half of the screen to the whole screen) and it work's a lot better (still not perfect) maybe that will help you guys

        • @Annoying Source:

          Agree with this.

Also, The circle gesture for camera works every time for me.

  • Received my phone today, first impressions coming from an iphone5.. damn this thing is huge! No sim adapter packed in with mine unfortunately so will have to wait for my new Optus sim to get here later this week before I can actually use it as a phone. Also no yellowing on the screen at all, phew :)

  • Yay finally got mine! Hello from the OPO. BTW, do do any of you think DWI could have put some sort of spyware on these devices? Don't trust them

  • I got a email from Australia post saying I have to pay $400 for formal clearance to clear customs before it will get delivered!! Did anyone else get this?? That is ridiculous. Not sure what to do now…

    • +1

What!! Hell no, didn't get that.

They were meant to be shipped within Australia, shouldn't even process through customs.

You sure its not a dodgey email?

      • +1

Yeah dodgey email would've been my first guess. The only time I've heard stuff needing to be paid to be cleared through customs is plant matter. Don't see any reason needing to pay to clear a phone haha

        • I bought 3 phones (1 for me, my brother and gf) under 2 different orders and the reply from Australia post when I asked why I'm being charged is that it's because the total order was more than $1000…the email looks legit cos there's invoices from customs. Ugh.. Tried calling dwi as well but they're closed for public holiday??

Edit: just found this from the item page…International Buyers - Please Note:
          - Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
          - Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.

        • -2

          @super_ace89:

Since it's over $1000, you will have to pay customs + GST.

See here Looks like it's 15%. $400 seems a bit high. It's not DWI's issue as this is standard for all international retailers. Unfortunately, you'll have to pay.

        • @super_ace89:

Damn, so DWI probably shipped both orders in the one box.

I think DWI should have to pay the fee because it clearly states the item will be shipped from within Australia.

They tried to cheap out on shipping & also shipped from O/S, clearly their fault.

I'd open a Pay Pal dispute.

          Edit:
I just checked my original order:
          Postage and handling
          Item location: Australia, Australia

          The new listings says:

          Postage:
FREE Expedited delivery from outside AU | See details

          Item location:
          Australia, Hong Kong

They changed it from Australia to Australia or Hong Kong.

IMO Your covered, open a Pay Dispute for sure.

        • It says in the shipping section of the listing:

          Expedited delivery from outside AU

          Additionally in the description:

          International Buyers - Please Note:
          - Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.

I don't think eBay will side with the OP.

I wonder if customs could send it back to DWI? Might be a cheaper option?

        • +2

          @neil:

Um, he isn't an international buyer based off the description, it's local.

He thought he was buying the item from a supplier within Australia and would receive within Australia. Therefore he does not have to worry about any import taxes.

I can't imagine how they could dispute this.

        • @neil:

It says in the shipping section of the listing:

          Expedited delivery from outside AU

That's the updated listing, not the original.

        • Ethics aside, I suppose you could point out how they are called DWI Cameras Australia and mention Australia a few different times on their listing.

I think the disclaimer on the listing will be the sticking point that DWI will point to. Seems eBay mostly sides with buyers so can't hurt to try.

        • @neil:

Did you not read any of my comments above?

If you chose "Australia Only" in the Ebay search and then searched for OnePlus One when the deal was live it would have shown the DWI listing.

The listing then clearly states that the item is Located in Australia and no where else, it does not have "Expedited delivery from outside AU".

The buyer cannot be held responsible for an item being shipped from Asia when it clearly states it will be shipped from Australia 100%.

How the hell can you argue that? Custom taxes do not apply. The buyer does not have to factor that into account when he purchases the item.

This has nothing to do with Ethics it's plain as day to see.

        • I'm pretty sure I agreed with you in my last comment.

        • @neil:

lol I totally don't see you agreeing with anything I'm saying in your last post.

        • +2

Thanks for the reply guys. I really appreciate it. Another way of looking at it is that it should've been sent as 2 separate orders then it wouldn't have been over $1000. It's also just outside their 14 day refund guarantee which sucks… But I've contacted them through ebay and email and just waiting for a reply. I don't want to be stuck with either having to pay customs or losing my order completely

        • @super_ace89: let us know how it goes.
dont know how everyone was saying DWI are a reputable seller.

        • +2

@phor8: I don't think people realise how many orders went through during the sale, they've actually handled it not too badly IMO. The real measure now would be how they handle something like this.

        • +1

so just an update, they ended up sending back the phones overseas so that they could resend them back to me in 2 parcels. So I FINALLY received my phones after more than a month of waiting. Such a relief

  • Is anyone else finding the charger port for the OPO to be really tight? I hope it's durable, don't want it to break!

  • How's everyone finding their OPO's after a week or 2 of usage? I'd been using iphone's since the 3g so have had to get used to android. Loving the customisation and currently using Nova launcher. Picked up a friends iphone 4 the other day and was surprised at how small it was. Think I'll be sticking with larger screens from now on.

  • I just manually installed the new update and the phone is running a lot smother and it seems that my touch screen issues are fixed. Loving the phone tho and for the price you just can't complain

    • Can you describe the touch screen issues you used to have?

      • Basically the screen would have a problem where it wouldn't be able to detect very many touches (more than two or three), This caused typing fast to be impossible.

Another issues was ghost touching which is where the screen would think I would touch even tho I didn't, this happen almost every time I opened up the messenger app after receiving a text I would quickly type something then all of a sudden I had excited the app to the home screen (Only using capacitive buttons)

All of these problem where (apparently) caused by the cache not clearing itself but all of these have been fix with the 38R Update, They fixed over 100 reported bugs with this update.

        https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON#selectedTab=com.at…

Edit: This is an interesting read as well, you need to login to read it tho: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/regarding-the-touch-panel…

    • According to a post/image on the OnePlus Reddit forum, the new update has resolved a huge amount of issues.

    • 38R update is awesome, just manually flashed it. Can zoom into pages properly now, swiping v works to start flashlight every time, pause on video recording, rotate screen works perfectly. Lots more!

      • Is there any way of updating it without manually flashing it?

        • +2

Nah, have to wait for OTA

It's really simple to flash manually.
I'm 100% stock and not rooted.

Just download the official 38R update(exactly the same as the OTA update)
          Power off phone
          Hold volume down and power
          Goes into recovery mode.
          Select 'wipe cache partition'.
Select 'apply update', point to where you downloaded the 38R zip on your phone.
          Done.Enjoy!

Here is the official untouched 38R update from the original source:
          https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95747613655042878

        • +1

@millzy: I was surprised at how easy it was, It's as easy as opening up a zip folder on windows. It's stupid easy

        • @millzy:

Thanks for that awesome guide millzy, I was wondering if you downloaded the 38R OTA. I just took mine out of the box and used it, so I shall assume it's not rooted aye :)

          OTA = over the air
          right?
Sorry I am so new to this!

        • +1

          @justcallmeboss:

          Hey mate, no worries.

Yeah, OTA is over the air. OTA is the update which comes direct to your phone when your the next in queue. OTA automatically downloads once you agree to the update and installs. Your phone checks for new OTA updates periodically, you can force your phone to check for OTA updates by going to Settings-> About phone-> System updates-> Check for updates.

We do the manual update because there are so many people waiting to get OTA, it will probably take a long time for your phone to get it as demand is so high. So we jump the queue :)

Yeah, your phone is not rooted, just like mine. Rooted phones are having issues doing the manual install with a special modified version of the update but you don't have to worry about that.

Download the 38R update from the link I posted above, that's the one I used. Its the official version. Super easy to install.

Let me know if you need anymore info, happy to help.

        • @millzy:

Excellent you've cleared that up! Thank you so much millzy, would gift you OzBargain gold if they had it :P

I just wanted to clarify, should I download that link straight onto my phone, or onto the computer and then drag/drop it into the device?

          Once again, THANK YOU :)

        • +1

          @justcallmeboss:

          No dramas mate :)

Download it straight to your phone. Remember where you save it for when you do the 'apply update' in recovery.

        • @millzy:

          Easy! I'll update you afterwards.
          :)

  • +1

Got my Nillkin glass screen protector today - applied it perfectly and looks awesome.
