$79 PSP E1000 Console Black Clearance @ Kmart Burwood One, Victoria - Save $60

700

Saw this whilst walking around Kmart Burwood One, definitely cheaper than prices at EB, but not sure about other places. Couldn't tell how long price would be, assuming until stock is all cleared.

I can't believe the PSP is still so expensive.

    • Probably because they're easy to softmod.

      • +5

The PSP has been easy to softmod since it was first released; their pricing has nothing to do with the popularity of PSPs for emulation and running pirated games, it's because the PSP was never popular to begin with and sales have been incredibly slow to gain momentum (as is the rule with Sony).

Sony gave up the firmware exploit arms race with the CFW/Homebrew/Modding community a long time ago.

All pre-PSP Vita consoles (1000, 2000, 3000, PSP Go, E1000) can now be softmodded with custom firmware. It's a matter of copying three files onto a memory stick and executing them.

rip off isnt worth $50 at this point

    • +1

Yeah, gotta wait for the ebay nostalgia pricing.

  • Wow they still sell the original PSP's? I haven't played my PSP in about 5 years and before that I only used it to play ps1 games or other emulators on a custom firmware.

Picked one up for $59 about 6 months ago, installed Mame with a gazillion games, and I haven't used it.

      True ozbargainer ;)

      I've done something similar…

Quite a good price actually considering how easy it is to mod it and then just download all the games. Especially great for people who love rpgs.

  • Collectors Item, especially if Sony go bust.

    • +8

Collectors won't want the pig disgusting budget version.

      • -2

The pig disgusting stuff are worth the most, because no one buys it.

  • +2

    Go Hawks, good deal btw

  • has anyone spotted it at a different kmart?

    • It won't help you being in Melbourne, but I saw a few of these for this price at the Aspley Hypermarket (Brisbane) a couple of weeks ago. It was inside the counter where you go to pay for the items.

be warned these are quite bad, no wifi and mono speakers only.

  • -3

Kmart should just send these old technologies back to Sony for factory crush machine. Useless piece of sh*t

  • I wouldn't mind picking one up.. sold mine ages ago but kept the games…

  • +3

Any deals for the Nokia N-Gage? I find them far superior to the PSP.

  • +4

Strongly reccomend not getting these. Not only because there are cheaper prices, but because these are very limited compared to the 2000 and 3000. The chips are weaker, the screens are crappier and the build quality is subpar.

Your android phone/iphone will serve your needs infinitely better when paired with a controller if you are just looking for a machine to emulate some old consoles.

Well I have one, my fav system of all time. Got it for my bday a few years back on its first released. It emulates all my fav games from Playstation, GB Advance, Snes, nes and mega drive so I ended up buying 2 more psp 3000s coz I think psp in general is a great system. Way more modable than my other handheld system.

    • So can a PSP 3000 be modded nowadays? I've got one gathering dust cos when I first bought it, it can not be modded.

      • +2

like Amar89 said above, all PSP can be softmodded.

  • Can I get Angry Birds on this?

    • +1

      there's a PSP version

  • would you guys reckon it's better to get a smart phone for portable emulator gaming?

    • +7

Sure it's handy having phone + games in one device, but playing emulated games without physical buttons is just horrible

      • I use something like this.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wireless-Bluetooth-Game-Controlle…

Except mine is a knock off PS3 controller with a homemade 'gameklip' to hold my Note II in place.

It works great for emulators that accept custom binding (which is all the ones I use), games that have native controller support like the GTA series and I use a program called sixaxis controller (phone needs to be rooted for this one) so that I can make custom on screen keyboards bind to controller presses for games that only accept touch input.

I played the entire of FF7 this way (my first play through too). It was awesome.

    • I think that I can speak for the majority that although emulation sounds like fun you never end up playing those boring old games, you only have time to do so much gaming and honestly today's games are much better, it's just nostalgia and will sit in a drawer

      • +3

I still play double dragon 2 the revenge on the emulator more often than xbox360,ps4 and Wii u games. I've finished it more than 50 times and still enjoy playing it til this day.

      • I'd say there is a couple that Nostalgia pulls me towards, Streets of Rage 2, Legend of Zelda erm, there was another.

    • MOGA Pocket Controller is a handy little controller, others are better but for its size it is great. Plus something to use the Enelops AAA batteries on.

  • I was thinking about buying this soul for the battery as my 2000 slim is far better quality then this.

But now as i have a vita I'm not that desperate and also I only had an 8 gb card in it so I couldn't do much with it now.

Still a good pickup if you want to play them old umd s

  • Only $59 at Target, gonna post the deal now

    • Could not post deal on my HTC One, image file not supported??? It was at Ballina Fair at Ballina NSW anyway, and it possible be nationwide too

  • any online?

  • It's amazing that PSPs are still over $100 on eBay.

If you don't want to spend $60 on this, it can be emulated.

PPSSPP is a psp emulator that runs pretty much every PSP game. Even supports online play (with a bit of messing around).

    • -1

this psp the E1000 doesnt have wifi so it's impossible for online play.

      • No, to emulate the PSP in general, not to run emulators on the PSP.

    • I the ones that are selling over 100$ are mostly the special edition color psps, esp the final fantasy 7 silver console
