Vietnamese Pork Rolls - $2.80 Roll or $3.50 with Can of Drink @ Cabramatta, NSW

1400

Vietnamese pork rolls starting from $2.80 on it's own or $3.50 with a can of drink.

Thought it should be raised to everyone's attention that there are cheap pork rolls on offer the next time you visit Cabramatta, NSW. It seems to be a bit of a price war between several local bakeries, so it's time to get out there and make the most of it!
Rolls are usually about $3.50 to $4.00 in Cabramatta; $4.50 to $5.50 in places like the CBD without a drink.

I usually go to the "Hot Bread" place on Hughes St and can vouch for the quality there. I've yet to try Vinata and the recently opened Destination Roll.

Destination Roll, Cabramatta Freedom Plaza, $3.50 pork roll with free cold drink ($3 rolls for the next 3 months promotion now in place - refer to comment below)
Hot Bread, Shop 9, 10-12 Hughes St, $2.80 pork roll or $3.50 with cold drink
Vinata’s, Shop 13-14, Cabramatta Plaza, 1 Hughes Street, $3 pork roll

  • Gosh, you can never get a decent pork roll in brisbane :(

  • Guys. Springvale or Cabra for bread roll? Maybe Box Hill?

  • Can somebody help me to buy one and deliver it to Ashfield for me! :)

  • @skywards: Scotts & Takeaway in Darra (Qld) used to sell the best Vietnamese Pork Rolls in Brisbane. Unfortunately it's not the same since their relos taken over the business according to my parents!

    • Yes maybe 10 years ago it was good! Suppose I should learn how to make it myself, because I am vietnamese…

  • Service was absolutely appalling. Heaps of other better places.

The best Vietnamese best rolls in my opinion:

    • Footscary: Banh Mi Ba Le

    • Cabramatta: Hughes St, as mentioned by other above. My aunty alway vouched for the one in the small alley opposite Subway on John Street, but I found it pretty average, hardly any fillings & not cheap!

    • Darra: used to be Scotts & Takeaway ( haven't had one from there since I've moved interstate 12 years ago)

    As for Pho:

    • Pho Pasteur in Bankstown prolly will have to be my favourite in Sydney. However, Homemade pho is always the best.
    • Haha, home made pho, so true

  • SYDNEY IS SO VERY LUCKY
Banh Mi in Brisbane , a decent one, costs the best part of $10 on the CBD yet when I was in Sydney a few weeks back I was paying $4 in the CBD and they were awesome in comparison.

    • Try Kim Thanh Hot Bread in Vulture Street, not had one for a while but they where ~$2.50 and awesome, make sure you ask for Chilli…

Also the two take aways near the Chemist on railway parade in Darra do pretty nice rolls, and both are about the same price as west end

      • Kim Thanhs is almost double that now, had one a few days ago as are most of the places in Darra and they all very light on with ingredients compared to Sydney.
Also bear in mind that rents in Sydney for shop space will be a lot higher than Brisbane yet they can still manage to do a Banh Mi twice as good.

Also West end and Darra are hardly convenient when in the CBD.

Closest thing to a $4 Sydney Banh Mi (which I can still get in the CBD) is the $8 one at Little Saigon http://littlesaigongrill.com.au/our-menu/

        • All good dude, I ate far too many of them a few years ago and haven't had one since… this thread has got me wanting one again now though

  • I love these. They are so cheap too. Cheaper than a 6 inch sub.

You guys in Sydney are very lucky. Down in Melbourne, Nhu Lan is known to be the best in Melbourne and they have just raised their price from $4.00 to $4.50. I think they are under renovation now to To's Baker near by is doing a booming trade at $3.50 for the classic cold meat roll.

    • Lol! I was once recommended by one of my work colleagues not to go to Nhu Lan as their rolls are more expensive & not as nice as To's bakery! I still think Ba Le rolls are better!

  • Mate, just hit up noodle house if you want a taste of Vietnam.

  • Ahhhhh, Pork rolls…….

And yes, living not too far from Cabra, often get them.

Cant beat 15000VND for the real deal though (just got back from Vietnam last week)

  • there are few different varieties of the pork roll bread roll…

in LA they use exclusively French Baguettes where the roll is a lot thinner and the crust a lot crunchier. you will find a lot of places in Vietnam that actually use these types of bread rolls as well as the fatter and more thicker rolls that we see more than often here in Australia,

in Sydney you can find a few places that use the thinner, crustier baguettes like Taste in surrey hills.

I think enjoying a pork roll for me would be a combination of the filling and the quality of the bread.. however I think the bread takes an important part in deciding which is a better pork roll.

i'd like to see more vendors offering the traditional French baguettes in Cabramatta.

  • Bargain.

Bought two pork rolls from Hot Bread this afternoon, 4 hours later, my wife and I had diarrhoea. Maybe cheap for a reason.

  • Great deal! What's the best/cheapest pork roll in Sydney CBD?

  • The Vinata shop uses the freshest ingredients out of all the Cabramatta ones in my opinion.
