    Rep, any deal for sailing4?

    • Sailing4 sold out currently, but more deals coming soon…

      • +3

I'd prefer Sailing4, any possibility a deal on this coming up soon? I'd hold out for that since I am looking for something bigger.

  • +3

It's awesome to see the deal again, I can vouch for Scorptec with my purchase of Sailing2 and sailing4 from them.

Highly recommend Romoss to anyone who needs a decent lightweight powerbank.

I bought the Sailing 5 from Scorptec's previous special. It costs a little more buying local, but delivery is faster and you don't run the risk of receiving a fake product. Small price to pay for the piece of mind.

  • Love my Sailing5 (from Singapore), if I needed another unit this would be an easy choice. Great deal Rep and free shipping is a nice sweetner

Contemplating on getting this or wait for Sailing4 deal….

  • Any additonal discounts for pickups? …..
    Maybe knock off $5?

    • Well yes free postage would probably cost him $5+ I guess.

Cheeky toward our generous OP, but upvote for ozbargain spirit :)

Just notice that Scorptec have the Romoss Sailing1 2600mAh Power Bank also on sale for $15.00 (was $25.00)
    http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Power_&_Chargers/Power_Ba…

I too cant decide on this/Sailing1, or wait for a Sailing 3 or 4 deal or get a 3000mAh from ebay for $15 with free delivery.
Or maybe a TP-Link TL-PB10400 Portable Power Bank $35.99 with free post (pclive.com.au) from this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/163988

Which is the most recommended, best buy?

What is the recharge cycles for this, 500/1000 times or more?

    • +4

The fact that you are asking this indicates that you don't really have much of a need for the device anyway.

The 10,000mAh ones are much more handy for travelling, but they are heavy and cumbersome. You'd never use the full charge of one of those just during a normal commute.

Therefore I'd say buy the smaller (5,000mAh) unit to start with. They are handy and you will get a lot more "full use" from the smaller ones. If you find it insufficient, then but another small one or get a 10,000mAh beast.

      • You make a fair point about size & bulk vs usage/needs.

I ordered a Power bank & 8GB Flash drive (1000mAh/2 in 1), from COTD a few days ago, I'm hoping its not too bad a device. It states that it's recharge cycle of 500 times.

I'm looking for a 2nd P/bank with more juice but with a higher recharge cycle around 1000 times,
as I have seen stated on some brands/models, or more which I'm not sure exist. That's kinda compact also.
Having sync/dual outputs could be very handy and a bonus also.

I would use this bigger unit as my main power bank, when its with me & I know I will need it, but keep the smaller 1000mAh always with me, just in case.

I didn't see any specs on any Romoss about how many charges it can handle and was hoping someone would know of hand.

I was also not sure on which brands are most reliable (Romoss/TP-Link/XIAOMI/etc) and are preferred/recommended.

It's a shame that I cant use a bigger power bank to recharge my Acer Iconia Tab A501 as it uses a dedicated plug/lead to recharge and not USB as it requires at least 2.1A if I recall correctly and I don't think it will draw/recharge any or enough power from its USB ports to charge, but I could be wrong.

          I ordered a Power bank & 8GB Flash drive (1000mAh/2 in 1),

That's really small… are you sure it's enough? It's 3.7Wh which works out to be 754mAh at 5V. Take an efficiency of 80% and that's just about 600mAh at 5V.

I didn't see any specs on any Romoss about how many charges it can handle and was hoping someone would know of hand.

All standard rechargeable li-ion/li-poly cells can do about 500 charge/discharge cycles. They naturally degrade even if not used, though. After about two years you'd probably want to replace it.

I was also not sure on which brands are most reliable (Romoss/TP-Link/XIAOMI/etc) and are preferred/recommended.

Xiaomi is the hot brand at the moment because they're well-designed, well-built, and extremely cheap overseas. In Singapore you can get their 10,400mAh power bank for S$14, which is about $12.50! Of course once they reach here they'll cost more.

Of course, if something is popular there will be fakes, so it's best to buy from a known reputable seller. There was a local deal posted here recently for a genuine 10400mAh one at $25 delivered. The deal is supposed to come back, no idea when though.

It's a shame that I cant use a bigger power bank to recharge my Acer Iconia Tab A501

Isn't it time to upgrade anyway? :)

          @eug:

          Great & Useful info/reply, thanks.

I would only use the power bank & 8GB Flash drive (1000mAh) as a last resort to top up my phone, I wasn't expecting it to fully recharge my phone.

Maybe I should have gotten something a bit bigger/more mAh, should I cancel that order and get something else?

It was kinda a impulse buy & liked the idea of the 2in1, but I used 1 of my $10 credit to buy it.

If I had the money I might, but the Acer is still going strong and am very happy with it.
I got it when TGG had that sale a long time go, thanks to this site.
Just need to get around to updating it's OS.

          I think I would get a Samsung note/tab next.

          cheers

          @OrbDaggerZ:

Your getting some good battery tips from above posters. If you ordered the 2 in 1 small power bank, I would probably keep it if it looked and worked ok. If it's small and light it should work great for an emergency phone top up. As long as you mostly charge up your phone before you go out, should work well. There is nothing worse than lugging a big heavy ( more expensive ) battery around in your pocket, also easy to lose/drop etc.

See how you go with that first, if that works ok for ya, hold off till you get a usb re- chargeable tablet. If not just grab another small cheap 2600mAh battery can be had for $4. It's sometimes more handy to have two smaller batteries than one bigger one, as you can forget to charge.

On your tablet, really refreshing to hear someone is still happy using a tablet that is only a few years old ( not that long in laptop advancements ), that still operates well with one Gig
ram and decent screen and ICS. If you can, wait till you can get a tab with the new Android L O/S as that is really the first visually different major update since 4.0 ICS, then you will feel that you have had a proper improved tablet. They tweek the specs here and there, but the big difference in tabs are between the bottom end cheaper ones and the top expensive models.

        • @ozhunter68:

          Thanks for the info/comments ozhunter68.

The only thing that I really don't like on the Acer tab is the crappy short lead/charge cable they give you, thou it does charge up kinda quick.

I wanted the Wifi only version, but they/TGG had only the 32gb 3G left as a display, which only just been unboxed, which was confirmed by the date/time of some pics someone took on it.

        • @OrbDaggerZ:

I forgot to add that I'm only using a small Sony mini pro 2 phone (1200 mAh battery), which I got from Mobile City (not Aus Stock/import), a great little phone except it has bugger all ram (512 MB RAM).

I don't use my mobile much.

I'm hoping to upgrade soon, I got my eyes on a Sony Z1 Compact.
Hence why I'm looking for a good & compact power bank.

          Thanks again for useful comments/info

          cheers

Hi Rep, any chance of a deal for the Sailing5 like last time?

  • Does anybody know how long it takes to charge one of these powerbanks from empty to full?

  • +1

The web page specs state ~6.5 hours (using 2.1A adaptor)

  • +3

Just a word of advice .. make sure you use a quality USB cable. I have the Sailing4, and it was charging extremely slowly. I then tried another (better) cable it it worked much faster. Some USB cables are of poor quality, causing the cable to act like a resistor.
Obviously this advice applies to charging from any source, not just the Sailing4.

  • I've ordered from Scorptec before but now I get the message at checkout….

We do NOT ship to a PO BOX or Parcel Locker delivery address.

They use StarTrack which is owned by Australia Post and I get deliveries all the time to my GPO Box from StarTrack.

edit: Fudged address to accept and changed postcode…..

  • Bought, thanks rep

any free shipping on the sailing1? i want a small powerbank to charge my phone just in case if i'm away from my desk/office for the day

    • nevermind; ended up purchasing the sailing2. thanks rep!

  • taobao cheaper.

  • $22 shipped is a bit misleading due to surcharge for either CC or paypal :(

Ended up being $22.33 with paypal…

    • Small price to pay for local warranty, quick delivery, most importantly peace of mind getting genuine product, not fake.

  • +1

Where do you enter the coupon code? Gone through the checkout process twice but can't find it, I must be blind.

  • Howbout AU $26=13 KmAh - any good .. buy/try/don't buy ?(~50 bought apparently)
Could go for an Xiaomi (10K) too..provided local. Shame didn't get last month's $30
    I miss Mushtato's thin margins :^]. Got a thirsty 7"tab,GPS,One Plus.

    • For $9 extra now for the Xiaomi 10400 your getting quality and genuine. Unless you need 2 x usb the Xiaomi is safe and should last a few years.

The usage of KmAh tickles me a bit. The K and m cancel each other out. :)

Their rep did say they'll bring the Xiaomi deal back:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162476?page=1#comment-2263…

    • Doh heheh, you are right. 13 amperes-hour, for my alternative which lose the 000 's.
+ I agree with Mushato thread - similar to $27 could be a very fine deal for the whole peace-of-mind factor. ($2.60/Ah-trusted vs $2.00/Ah+quality uncertain.

  • Still shows stock, but says "promo code sold out" now.
