How do I get the Amazon Appstore on my Android device? To download these apps free now, download the Amazon Appstore for Android: https://www.amazon.com.au/getappstorenow.

Why isn’t the app free for me?
If you have an existing Amazon.com account but cannot download the app for free, you may still be shopping the Amazon.com store.

How can I get the app for free if I have an Amazon.com account?
To shop Amazon.com.au change your ‘1-Click address’ to your Australian address. Go into 'Manage Your Content and Devices' and then into 'Settings'. Check that the ‘Country Settings’ say Australia. Click 'Change' to check your address is in Australia. Above your address, it will state: ‘You are currently linked to shop on Amazon.com.au.’ If it says ‘You are currently linked to shop on Amazon.com’, then click the related link to select Amazon.com.au.

You do not need to create a new account and you can continue to shop for physical goods at Amazon.com. You can always change back to Amazon.com for digital products at any time.

    +1 for Plex alone :)
If you have chromecast, you better have plex :)

  • Awesome.

  • +1

    Thanks op
    Plex ftw !!!!!

  • +4

Thanks. Not really interested in the games and utilities but PLEX!

  • +6

these apps should be available for free in the US store soon.

    • I don;t understand why people bother with different region stores for apps. I'm serious, can someone explain it to me?

  • Plex, world of goo, pvz, and devils attorney.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks. Followed all instructions and my phone finally finally displayed the Amazon AUS free apps. I had to uninstall the apk from my phone and then re-install after following instructions. Good thing is all my previously downloaded apps can be seen inside the app, the only thing missing are my Amazon coins.
After installing the free apps that I want, I will swap back to the US settings. Fingers crossed my coins are still there.

Edit: Does anyone know of any good tutorials on how to fully utilise Plex?

    • I had to uninstall and reinstall the amazon app store too.

  • Been waiting ages for Plex to be free, finally the day has come!

  • i m getting my note 4 in few days, any way i can download these and use it later, expecting it to reach me mid nov.Or does it have to be done on the phone only? Thanks

    • +1

      Should be able to
Just download now on amazon cloud then link with your note 4 later down the track with Appstore installed

      • so i have to use the same gmail id that i use for amazon setup and note 4 setup right?

        • +1

Doesn't matter. Your Amazon account and gmail account are different from each other. But you can link your phone (not gmail account) to your amazon account once you receive it by installing the amazon app.

    • I've tried and it's too bloody hard. In theory, you install an Android emulator on your PC, then use that to download. In practise it's difficult to get that to run.

      • it's actually really simple just use bluestacks on windows pc

        • can u post a link or something pls

        • +1

@ozzyoi: http://www.bluestacks.com/home.html -> then Download App Player on the left

        • @Astro551: thanks :) should it be the same email that i use here and on the note 4 setup ?

        • it's actually really simple just use bluestacks on windows pc

Only if Bluestacks actually installs and runs properly. If, like for me, that doesn't happen then NO, it's not very simple at all.

        • +1

should it be the same email that i use here and on the note 4 setup ?

It's whatever email you use when you set things up.

It's YOU who decides this (make sense?)

        • @llama: Then there must be a problem on your pc as ive installed it on various desktops and laptops both windows 7,8 and 8.1

        • @llama: thanks @ all, i m downloading blue stacks, was aborted before because not compatible with bitdefender, but after removing it, its working fine. Cheers :)

No need for emulators, your Amazon account is your Amazon digital locker.

Just get on a PC browser, log on to your Amazon account, and then click the Buy button on each app you want. They will be added to your account and you can install them from the Amazon app when you've got your phone.

That's the way I do it, so as not to have to download and install apps I'm not that interested in.

      • Logged in on a PC and there's no 'Buy' button for me. Just a 'Continue' button underneath "Download the Amazon Appstore".

        • +2

You need to set up 1-click purchasing, once you do that, you should be able to buy through the pc browser!

        • @kirynflare: awesome thanks!

      • i need an emulator because i don't have a phone at the moment with amazon app store already installed. otherwise the procedure u said is correct.

      • Am I missing something. All i get is the download the app button. My store is set to .au and my 1 click settings seem correct.

If I navigate to the US store, I can see the 1 click option for physical items, but again apps only show the download the app button.

        • +1

You might have to install the Amazon app once on at least one device, so it registers the type of device you have?

        • @kirynflare: Legend. But my work colleague wasn't impressed that I stole their phone to do so.

  • +1

Can vouch for Devil's Attorney, fun game with witty dialogue!

I really hope this is not an irreversible ploy to convert us accounts to au accounts where we might be shafted on pricing later on.

It reminds me of when yahoo decided to add . au to the end of my email because they thought it would be a bright idea and then lost half their users.

    • You can always convert back. This is the 2nd time the promo ran, the first time a month or two ago I switch to au, got the stuff I wanted and switched back to us… of course I have a us address to begin with.

      • How can I check if my account is AU or US? I use the same login across the US / UK and AU sites.

        • find the app. if it says $0.00 you are AU, if is says $1.99 (or whatever) then you are not AU.
also you can check in your settings as mentioned by the OP.

  • Yay for Plex! Thanks, OP!

  • Nice find!

    Thanks works great on BlackBerry

  • +1

Yes as usual will wait for these to come to the US store… thanks for the early warning!

  • Thanks, downloaded all in Amazon cloud. I might use them some day like reading 500+ Kindle books.

  • +1

Plex will go well with my COTD Chromecast and Kogan Nexus. Must stop checking ozbargain…

  • Been wanting to use Plex on my new Chromecast but didn't think $5 was worth it. But unhappy that to use Plex on the Xbox One they expect me to subscribe.

    • +1

You'll change your mind once you use it. Plex is totally worth it.

      • No I wont. Useful for watching stuff off my chrome cast, but if I'm in my other room on my Xbox One, I can easily access the content through their media app. Plex is handy, but it's certainly not worth $150 or $5 a month when I have a very functional free option.

Fantastic. Day after my new Nexus 5 arrives. Can anyone recommend a good phone 'cleaner' (such as CCleaner for PC) that will clear out any remaining files from uninstalled games, or remove them as part of the uninstall?

I'm basically downloading anything that seems cool and I have a strong feeling that I'm going to get to this time next week and my OCD will kick in and I'll want to clean up the phone and remove anything that I haven't liked or used.

  • World of Goo, Devils Attorney, and Zombie Gunship here. Please let me know if I've missed any other cool little games.

    • I've been wanting to get Unpossible on my iOS devices for a while, didnt realise it was on Android too. Its basically a clone of a PC game called Proun which is great fun, probably worth a look if the gameplay is similar.

Edit: Just installed it on my HP Touchpad running Android and its quite good, although I think that Proun has a much better feel on PC (I think its coming to iOS soonish).

  • Nice !!

  • Thanks, again have to go in one-click one by one.

Anyone who likes video games and hasn't played Eufloria and World of Goo…DO SO NOW. Thank me later.

Link to free apps on US Amazon

Edit: Mountain is not free on US Amazon. It costs US$1 or 100 Amazon coins.

  • Thanks grabbed a few.

    Plants vs Zombies isn't free.

  • WOW PLEX on its own is worth it alone!

  • how can u tag the whole lot at once?

  • Anybody know how to use the AU store?

It says my country is Australia and also this on the top after I changed to US and back to AU (I thought it'd fix it):

"Great news! You can now shop for digital content at Amazon.com.au in Australian Dollars.
Learn more about transferring to Amazon.com.au"

But I still get the geographical lock message. Pretty sure I've never been able to use the AU store, have tried many times over the year (there's only an Australian address set on my account).

    • Dear Yanoflies,

Apologies for the issues you are experiencing. If you have clicked through the message mentioned above - ‘Great news!’ and completed the transfer of your account to Amazon.com.au then you should be able to shop the store. Once you have completed that, if you are still having issues, please enter your details here: www.amazon.com.au/contactus and we will look into this issue for you.

      Thanks,
      Lee.

  • Uh rep, both versions of Plants Vs Zombies aren't showing up as free in the app store.

  • Thanks OP. Somehow, I feel like my wallet got fatter going through these deal. Happy Halloween.

  • All games now available in US Amazon Store.
