Saw the deal on my phone… ran to the car to get the laptop, fire it up, hotspot and find out I was 1 minute to slow lol.

    Very good deal.

    • Why didn't you just use your phone? Lol

      • +4

        • you sir are awesome!

  • Got one HDD. Thanks.

    • +12

Why not up vote the deal then?

  • can BDAY and ACA be stacked?

    • +1

      Codes don't stack.

      • +4

BAY ($8 off shipping) still works though if you have already used ACA.

  • Great deal EC, wish I needed a HD.

  • Thanks, great price.

  • Fantastic price. I need one but can't afford one yet, lol.

    • Can't afford the Kitkat?

  • +5

Frustrating. Those kitkats are so tempting but I know I'd go through them in a fortnight

    • +6

      Ships in 7-9 Days.
      Best Before: 11/12/2014

Lucky for you, it'd be out of necessity

    • really? i chucked out 15 4Xbars of kits kats from the Android kitkat promotion just last week. Bought like 45 of them all up. I decided I wasn't going to eat some unwrapped chocolate 6 months old, even though they had been carefully placed into sealable sandwich bags.

I guess i save money not having much of a chocolate craving :)

      • +3

best before dates isn't the same as use by dates. chocolate don't bad like milk, cheese or bread.

      • How many tablets/vouchers did you win?

    • +2

After the Nexus 7 competition, I never want to see another kitkat again….

  • +3

    Thanks!
    1. Zoo York T-Shirt x2 $6

I could get the HDD, but I just use Dropbox. Don't see the point of external HD's now.

    • +5

You have 2TB of storage in Dropbox?

    • +16

My internet access speeds are not quite USB3 speeds yet…

    • +5

Meanwhile I have well over 40TB of hard disk storage connected and live and several other drives lying dormant in boxes. Cloud storage is for suckers.

      • +3

I use both for essentials that can't be replaced, family photos for example.

        • Jennifer Lawrence just can't say enough nice things about the cloud.

  • Is this a good deal or should I wait for another $79 2TB deal from DSE?

    • Where do we put the ACA discount code for the hard drive?

EDIT: Damn it, i find out where it is after i payed the extra 7.65.

    • +3

Do you want portable? The DSE ones aren't, but I think they have faster drives.

  • Thanks, just got a Samsung 2TB Portable HDD!

    • +6

I didn't get one, but up voted the deal for you anyway.

      • Thanks Luke…

  • got a t-shirt for $2.99 delivered. 100% cotton zoo York.

  • +2

I wonder how many Kit Kats I will eat while I copy over 2tb of files to the Samsung HDD.

  • +1

    Thanks EC.

  • Nice, got 2 shirts and the HDD!

  • +3

Geez that Samsung HDD is a beauty, able to transfer 4.8GB/s. I need me a few of them for my data centre.

  • Thanks, bought one HDD. Cheers.

  • When removed from casing is that drive a SATA 3 inside?

    • +1

Samsung does not explicitly state the drive that is inside. However, according to http://www.storagereview.com/samsung_spinpoint_m9t_mobile_ha…, the drive inside is a Samsung Spinpoint M9T Mobile Hard Drive, which after a little digging, uses "Interface: SATA 6GB/s". It is also the standard 9.5mm, 2.5” form factor.

The term SATA 3 is a bit vague. SATA II is also called SATA 3Gb/s. SATA III is formally known as SATA 6GB/s.

  • Bought Kit Kat's for the other half. Wonder how long it'll take him between a box of those and 1.44KG's of Snickers?

  • +1

Another HDD for me too… thanks!

  • Well COTD just got a few new customers from my family (due to the one per customer limit) - HDDs all round for Christmas!
Wife says "Hey this site is great!" uh oh…

  • Thank you !

  • +2

    Brilliant deal! Thanks OP :D

Best Price Quality 2TB USB 3.0 Portable HD ever!!!

    Currently $135 @ MSY… but with COTD + ACA Code = $89.99 Delivered… absolutely Gold :)

    • Bugger, I didn't have enough time to check out the HD's specs/prices, Doh.

But I did get a few things with the ACA code (mobile cases), I only notice the COTD banner about free shipping around 11:30, then after order, notice this and the other post about this deal.

I only just managed to place a order with minutes to spare.

  • +2

Didn't really need it but for $90… irresistible!

  • Rio men' briefs 7 pack $1, only medium left.

    http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/40305/product/rio-men-…

  • Thanks easternculture, I signed up for COTD and brought the HDD. I have used the referral link and put you as my referrer, so we both will be $10 richer :)

  • HDD can be dismantled for laptop use? No funny connectors, standard sata and size?

    • +1

No. Its a spinpoint M9T but the usb connector is soldered on.

    • +1

Get segate 2tb backup slim portable drive if you want to use in a laptop/ps4. MSY had it on sale the other day so I grabbed one for my PS4. No doubt since it was on sale there it's going to pop up on sale at other retailers.

      • Thanks guys

  • Does anyone know if they send to Parcel Locker address? Thanks.

  • Bought the HDD, thank you EC!

  • someone has an hour left to use cotdeohdmln14 for $10.00 off!
they send to po box so i'm guessing they're able to send to parcel locker

    • Gone

    • Thanks.

  • thanks i grabbed a t-shirt!

  • Bought my first HDD. Thanks.

  • +1

I went through paypal too fast, without applying the discount code to my order - 1 t-shirt, any tips on how to apply the code late, or cancel the order would be appreciated

    • +2

Speak with live chat, they let me cancel my order to reorder.

      • thanks, I'll try that

  • I think the portable drive is still a good price even without free shipping. Still under $100

  • +1

This is a second Samsung 2TB M3 HDD I bought, First one was through Shopping Express Deal ($109 cheapest back then) and I am very happy with it's quality and bundle software. It came with NTFS driver for Mac OS so I can use it on Mac unlike other cheap Portable HDD I have bought

  • I was kinda annoyed about buying a few Ip5 cases & accs (around $40 worth in total) for my brother a few days before their bday sale and then have them drop the prices on almost all of the same cases that I got, eg Cygnett Workmate Utility iPhone 5/5s Cover was $10 before sale then went down to $3.95 for all colors & Cygnett iPhone 5/5s Bike Mount from $20 to $10.

But with this ACA & the last of the bday event, the Blk/Org case went back to $3.95, I'm guessing it was a error (?) as the other 2 colors were still back to $9.95.

So I got a few more them, now I'm slightly less annoyed.

Did anyone have a similar experience with other items?

  • I am quite unhappy as my shopping cart was automatically cleared at about 11:40PM last night while I was still choosing stuffs. They said the ACA deal was valid till midnight. Do the COTD actually follow the Sydney summer time? I am in Brisbane.

    • yup, they are an hour earlier than us………..:(

  • Anyone had their hard disk despatched to date? I knew they stated 5 to 7 business despatch prior to purchasing it, not that I'm in hurry. Just seeing if anyone had theirs despatched…Cheers.

    • Nope, I'm still waiting.

    • Just got the email that the HDD was dispatched.

Sadly the 48x Kit Kats (which I am much more excited about) have not been dispatched yet.

And I also got confirmation that the Kit Kats were dispatched :D

      • Yup, just got mine too. What a relief. :)

  • same, dispatched :)

  • OoOooo I feel sick after only 7 Kit Kats.

    • +2

You should have a break. Have a Kitkat..

  • Just received my hdd a moment ago, wasn't too impressed with the build quality, the usb port section seems flimsy to me but hey, performance wise, it's pretty good compared to my WD Ultra Passport and best of all, all under $100 for 2tb.

  • Just received my kitkat… time to bulk
