  • I am giving up on these eBay sales… should be eBay promo rules you want to participate prices are locked in for 5 days. 3 days before the sale and 2 days during the sale.

Right now it is price gouging… however it is Caveat Emptor in the end.

  • anyone know where i can get a good quality air humidifier/purifier? thanks

  • +1

I think we should all complain to eBay and get them to do 20% off Kogan.

  • Picked up a Weber q, the middle size one, for 290 pick up from tgg

Pretty happy bout that as these things never go on sale

  • -5

Would it be possible to rort the system and get a full cash refund from the store after pick-up? Free money! yes? yes?

    • Would never work it would go back via PayPal and the voucher reverses itself.

      Unless you are lucky :)

    • +1

Have had things refunded in previous sales and you get 80% back or what you originally paid only, the other 20% is not refunded.

  • How about a rice cooker guys? Any suggestions, missed out on the one from Kogan (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/167252) a while back (as did a lot of others when they cancelled the orders)

I am using a Breville one at the moment and it has been great.

If you want to go Appliance Online.

    • buy a tiger if you want a rice cooker. stay away from the other junk that's sold by the big retailers.

      • While i've read this everywhere, if i wanted to spend $300 i would get a tiger or Zojirushi. But i'm really happy at $100 and fuzzy logic. Better than my current $20.

There was another this morning that I should have bought, but i think it must have sold out or they removed it.

        • have a look in the asian shops in your city. you should be able to get one for ~$200. even a base model tiger is more reliable the rest. it will cook rice or congee without drying or burning it. if it does burn the rice, then it's faulty.

      • +2

So far my Breville has made perfect rice from the day I bought it.

I think I will keep the difference and buy something else with it instead.

      • only Asians care about rice cooker, so if you're not one, don't bother with $200 Tiger one, because boiled rice in a normal saucepan will suffice.

    • OK guys, the one I was looking at before came back in stock. Meant to be a fantastic rice cooker.

Interesting "special" from fresh fragrances. Was going to buy my gf some perfume for Christmas. At fresh fragrances it's $94 minus whatever the 20% discount is, not too interested in doing the maths seeing as the exact same perfume is $29 at priceline.

  • Any recommendations for a good waffle maker guys? Thanks!

  • How come I can't seem to find the click and collect option for TGG?

    • +1

Not all items have it. For example the black Moto360 didnt. The silver did. The sandwich press below does. Its just below the "Add to Cart" button.

      • Cheers mate!

      • Managed to find the free pick up using desktop mode instead of mobile!

  • +1

Bought 2 of these red Sandwich maker/grills for $39 ea pickup at Good Guys.

We complain about the price of stuff in AU compared to USA. NZ is even worse.. Noel Leeming is a nationwide electronics/whitegoods chain I worked for about 20 years ago.. they are selling this item for NZ$140.

Even if you take The Good Guys advertised price (no eBay discount), DOUBLE IT, then add some for the AU/NZ exchange rate, it is still more expensive in NZ.

    https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/kitchen-laundry-appliance…

    • -1

I assume you're in NZ? Do most Aussie outlets ship to you guys?

      • No I have been in Queensland for years. Most retailers dont ship to NZ although slowly more and more are.

  • I'm close to buying a new coffee machine from TGG. Does anyone know if you're able to purchase an extended warranty in store?

    • +1

I picked up in store and they didnt offer me to buy an extended warranty - however my invoice states "customer chose not to buy extended warranty". I'm thus guessing yes you can buy it if you ask at pick up.

      • With the new consumer law you don't need to buy extended warranty.

I got Samsung fixed my 60" TV Panel after 1 year warranty.

    • +4

I cannot say for sure about TGG - but just last week a sales rep at JB HiFi (in front of manager) said they can add an extended warranty within 30 days of purchase.

That said, think carefully about whether you need an extended warranty. The consumer guarantees act legally provides a lot of the same benefits of these extended warranties - if you are prepared to make your case.

Goods sold in AU must be fit for their advertised purpose, of reasonably quality, and last for a reasonable amount of time. Those terms are deliberately vague and are open to interpretation, and the cost of the item (compared to others in its class) plays a part.

For example if a $2000 Sony TV dies after 2.5 years, even if the manufacturer warranty said 1 year, you have a very good case for repair/replacement as many would agree its reasonable to expect longer than 2.5 year from this brand of TV.

      • Thanks for the info. I'm really in two minds about it. It all seems a bit wishy washy when it comes to these implied statutory warranties. Assuming that they will fight you all the way to arbitration is it really going to be worth the price of the extended warranty? I'm probably going to cave in for the extra 4 years because it's said to cover wear and tear. I'm pretty kind to my equipment but things still wear out and so it's good to know if anything breaks in the 5 years I can get it fixed for free.

There might be some dissapointed TGG customers - I bought my coffee machine 11am this morning and picked click and collect. It then says you have to wait for an email confirming its ready in store. I waited all day, still no email so went in late afternoon. Of course the order wasn't processed yet but the desk girl found my name in their computer - calls a salesman over to bring me a machine (as none behind the desk with all the other ebay orders). Salesman comes over and says there is 1 left and that guy over there wants it - desk girl says well this guy bought it at 11am (me) so he gets it first and she gives it to me (lucky me). Salesman then starts arguing with her about something else - I sticky beak and its about Samsung Galaxy tabs - they have a pile of 5 behind the counter and he took 1 to sell to an instore customer. Desk girl then tells him she has 10 ebay orders and there is 4 tabs now left. Salesman shrugs and mumbles something about having to cancel the oversold ebay items.

    • +2

Sounds like a royal cock up. I hope I can still get my deal done tomorrow. :?

    • +3

That salesman sounds very ignorant, I feel sorry for the desk girl. Those who have placed orders in advance should be given priority and placed on the side ready for collection. But you are very lucky :)

      • +3

In an ideal world, first in, first served, however in reality with a bricks n mortar store, when sales reps work on commission, they will always prioritise the walk-ins over invisible internet customers that dont bring the sales reps any ching-ching.

    • Tab S out of stock, but they have to wait to get more stock from samsung.

      • additionally, they seem to have let 30 more people buy it on ebay (from 149 to 179) before they ended their listing.

    • +1

I also bought a tv for local pickup, and mine is still being processed :(

  • any recommendations on dishwasher fro appliance online? the delonghi looks good but would prefer free delivery. we would rarely use it, more just to fill the empty vois and sometimes as a very exxy dish drainer. Bought LG 55" for $895 and picked up in store today. alls et up. great tv. sold our 3 yr old one same day for $400. also don't forget to claim 10 x free blu rays

    • After Buying Fisher & Paykel DD60DCX7 for around $1100 at beginning of year from TGG - I can highly recommend it.
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fisher-Paykel-DishDrawer-DD60DCX7…

      • +2

I would recommend Bosch but they don't seem to sell it. I would avoid F&P based on the online reviews from whirlpool

        • +1

I got given a Bosch as a present recently. It works great as a bench! Not sure of anything else as we have no way of connecting it to water or a drain atm. But a welcome bench space as I say.

      • +1

I brought this dishwasher a couple of months ago too.

I'm very pleased with it. The installation is far more difficult that a standard dishwasher, so I recommended that you hire an experienced installer.

The dish drawer has been a problematic model in the past, but the latest ones seem to have worked out all the problems (e.g. stainless steel base to solve the mould problem; and a user serviceable pump motor).

    • sal78 - We bought a semi intergrated Delonghi a few months ago and it is really cheaply made and not happy with it at all. Our 12 year Bosch one we replaced was much better

I'm pretty sure GTA V for PS3 was never $100 before today.

      • lol NO i paid 79 at big w release day haha

  • Just bought this for $63 with free pick up in store

Not sure if it's the best price but cheapest I can find atm.

To Be Honest I think I wasted a lot of time looking for good deals when ebay has these promotions. I really was able to find any product that was good priced. The only deal that I really liked when ebay had a discount on entire ebay AU store. I want that deal back

  • +2

Going to pick up a Dyson Cool bladeless fan tomorrow from TGG http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121500274356
    Retail $429 - after $50 cash back promotion + 2% Cash Rewards = final price $285 :)

    • Where are the details of the cash back promotion?

    • Could you provide the details of cash back please? I couldn't locate it.

      • I think rictee might be referring to the store credit promotion found here: http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/BonusOfferListView?catalogId=3…

But it is state and store specific so make sure you check your store first by 'refining offer'.

        • Yes you can find details in that link but it appears to be nationwide.
Last day is today (1st Dec) so get in quick!

        • @rictee:

If I bought it via their eBay store on 01/12 and paid same day via Paypal for delivery to home will the invoice date on 01/12 or the date they processing it?

Because I received email from TGG and mentioned they had allocated my order to local store but until now still haven't receive any email or call from store to confirm the order.

    • I don't know why anyone would buy one of these. Inefficient, loud and over-priced.
I'll consider buying one when they drop to $20, even then it'll be a novelty purchase.

Sorry dude. That's just an engineer's critique. Dyson does a lot of cool design, the "bladeless" system isn't one.

Any deal on MacBook Pro or Air?

    • Would love to know this too.
I couldn't find any on the DS of GG ebay stores - only covers

Grabbed a fridge from AppliancesOnline. Been buying stuff from these guys for a long time and love them.

    • +2

I bought my TV from them. Nothing but good things to say.

Quick delivery and customer support was polite when I started getting edgy about the delivery time.

      • +1

Good price matching too. We got them to deliver all our appliances when we renovated our kitchen last year. Where they were not the cheapest we could find they price matched. And they taskje old appliances away for you if needed.

    • +1

Thanks for the assurance. I have my eye on a home theatre system from their eBay store :)

  • Can anyone recommend a wireless headset with a mic? I've trawled through a pile of reviews but can't really settle on a set…

    • +2

Looking for the same. But want it to be cross platform for PS3, PS4 Xbox 360

  • looking at PetCircle. when I take the 20% off , the price is then what every other Ebayer is selling Advocate for. No real deal with PetCircle as they are way too expensive to start with.

    • +1

And they don't send to regional WA, boo!

    • +1

Petbucket for that stuff mate. A lot cheaper…

      • Thanks for that. Pet bucket is $53, pet circle is $107 (and z20% off). Big difference.

    • +2

I posted earlier that Petcircle also jacked up the prices before the sale.

Some stuff I was interested in before, but now with their 25% price increase, there's no point. No sale to them!

      • Sorry 8 pages, I didn't go through it all. Pet bucket looks pretty good.

    • I got Black hawk 10kilo dry dog food for about $58 delivered. Cheap and saved me from the heavy lifting.

NEW Canon Powershot SX600HS Black Digital Camera SX600HSBK at TGG. For 90$ almost 50% discount with cash back at canon worth 50$ won't find it chwaper . plus the 2% cash rewards

    • Where is the link, please?

      Is that $90 less 20% + 2% and another $50 cashback?

Edit: Ignore me … i worked it out - after all deductions and cashback it is $90

    • thanks, just bought one. Looks like a nice little spare camera

    • Are you sure you can get cash back biting from ebay gg

      • it is being purchased through the good guys who is an authorised reseller so I don't see why not

    • You need to put in a suburn where you bought it from. If its Goodguys online via eBay you don't know if you can get the cash back

      • I've done that with DSE eBay. With DSE they put the store where it came from. I also did it with TGGs but they don't put which store it came from so I just picked one. Canon aren't too picky with those things.

        • Hi, if that's the case what should I put under suburb or which store when the invoice from GoodGuys don't have it?

      • I picked mine up and my receipt is for $170 and shows I paid at their store. I see no reason why I wouldn't get cash back. If you do delivery it may be a bit harder, but it should still come delivered with a receipt with suburb on it

    • Damn it TGG have increased the price for the SX600 and SX700

      • only on the SX600.. SX700 is still $279

        you have 15 mins.

  • +2

Could anyone suggest a good laptop/ultrabook at a good price.Intended to use for internet surfing, watching movies etc . Don't need a very high end product.
    Thanks

    • See my other post a few posts below .. :)

  • IMO, in future, for these so called "sales", they should just put them up at a random time, no notice to sellers and say it's 20% off for 3 days. Any existing auction items can't be changed and prices are locked in.
