Extra 15GB Free (30GB Total) OneDrive Storage with iOS & Android Apps

2740

Microsoft originally offered this deal for September only, then extended to end of October. Seems they've activated the deal again as I've just tested on 2 accounts and works perfectly. Everyone gets 15GB free, but download the free iOS or Android apps, log into the app and you'll be asked if you wish to turn on camera backup. Choose 'turn on' and you'll automatically get an extra 15GB free.

You can check your storage on a desktop PC by clicking here, or via settings in the apps. If all went well, you should now have 30GB of free storage. Please note you can immediately turn off camera backup and you keep the storage. Not sure how long this offer will last this time around, so good luck!

Original deal posted by chonghe is here.

Simple Steps:

  • Clicking here should show 15GB (unless extra claimed previously)
  • Download iOS or Android app
  • Log into app on mobile device
  • Turn Camera Roll 'ON' in the app
  • Click here again. Should now see 30GB storage
  • If you wish, turn Camera Roll 'OFF' and storage remains at 30GB

Referral Links

Referral: random (307)

Both referrer and referee will receive an extra 0.5GB of free storage (max 5GB).

I just did that and wham there it was.
      Cheers TA

      • Make sure your wifi is on for it to connect and it should work.

    Wow, generous. All those gigs.
Did i mention google gave me 1tb for free?

    • I don't believe you.

    • +2

I might be mistaken but I believe that is only for users of Google's other products (meaning Chrome OS at least) and furthermore it is not free but rather free for 2 years only and then converts to a paid account or you lose it.

Although if I am wrong by all means say so.

As sarcastic as his comment is, he's referring to this.

      • +1

Well after 2 years it might be still free. With cheaper prices and allotment getting better, the 1tb may just be the 100gig of today that, and by the way that cost less than a cup of coffee from google. Oh, one more thing - 15 gigs are free.

What the Chromebook you purchased to get the 'free' storage free ???

  • one drive also includes office online, didn't know that.

  • got 30GB available now what do I do with it

      Store Porn

      • Actually you possibly can't - anything with nudity or adult content violates MS T&Cs

    • So basically I'm happy that I got my free 30gb but there's not really much use with it… anybody?…

      • -OS restore point backup storage.
-Share music, tv or movies with friends and family.
-Backup photos when abroad from sd cards etc.
-copy of software iso's so a computer can be reinstalled without local media.
        The list is endless…

  • Worked, thanks

Whoa! Mine says I have 40!

    • You must have previously claimed some referral bonuses as well :)

      • mine was already at 25gig, no referrals but 10gig loyalty bonus.

        • +3

I think 25GB was the original offering by MS when they first released SkyDrive. You're one of the lucky ones.

        • +1

          @tightarse:
yeah, way back with skydrive just had to log in by some date years back and got an extra 10gig.

        • Same here! I'm up to 40GB now :)

        • @narz: Me too :D

  • so if I already got the 15GB camera roll bonus before, I guess I cant get it again. Did the steps but stayed at 30GB total

    • Correct. 30GB max, unless you have previous referral bonuses.

  • Thanks OP, it worked.

  • i didnt even need to turn the camera backup on, just logged in again and it said 30GB avail.

  • Did not work here

    • Tried uninstalling the app (I have been using it for quite a while) and reinstalling it. Now I have 30 gig.

  • Thanks TA! Perfect

  • FYI guys, be careful….Onedrive have a "number of files" limit.

Recently hit the wall when it stopped synching after 20,000 files which only totaled around 700mb (website / app backups)

Found out the hard way…. now sticking with DropBox because they have 300,000 limit.

Looks like that is a OneDrive for Business limit. Is that what you're using?

      http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/forum/sdfiles/ma…

2 other users are claiming they have 49k and 63k files synced.

    • This is not correct. The issue is with onedrive for business which is based off sharepoint which has its limits (the version you get with an office 365 subscription).

The consumer version of OneDrive works off a different system and has no limits.

  • Thanks, got mah thirty gigs

  • Thanks to TA and others on ozbargain I now have a surface pro 2 + the recent Sony 64GB from Amazon + a 30GB one drive :)

  • Thanks for this.

  • thanks.. :)

  • Thx
It gave me an extra 3 gigs, as I already had 40 gigs

  • Didnt get extra 15GB as I already at 40GB

  • Great for people with limited space, but I think I have enough :)

For those who has 15gb and it's showing "Turn Camera Roll ON" for Extra 3GB. it's because you're using Mobile Data (or that you already have surpassed max 30GB), once you have WiFi enabled, the 15GB will then automatically be applied.

to check inside the app incase the website isn't updating properly > (android): goto the menu button (3 dots) in the bottom right hand corner > then Settings > Tap on "Personal <email>" and it'll show the updated 15GB extra. then turn off Camera Roll.

I don't seem to be having much luck with this.

I created a new live.com account (does this matter?) from a PC and got the 15Gb free.

Installed the app on an Android 4.1.2 phone, was offered 3Gb for turning on camera roll (when using WiFi), received nothing - checked via app and PC. Uninstalled then reinstalled app. Signed out and in on the PC. Nothing.

I then installed the app on an Android 4.4.4 tablet, offered 3Gb for turning on camera roll, received nothing.

I didn't have any photos on either device (does this matter?); I dropped a jpeg into the Pictures folder, created a DCIM/Camera folder and dropped a jpeg in there too, all to no avail. I can, however see the image I dropped when I log in on the PC.

Does anyone have a link where this Camera roll bonus is described? I click on the 'Learn More' button in the Camera roll bonus section under storage, but I did not learn any more.

      • Same issue for me.

        • Has it expired?

      • No photos probably does matter. I had this happen, but didnt turn on wifi. you need to turn on wifi and let it begin syncing before you get it. you can turn it off sync straight after.

Its uploading the camera roll, so just take a picture with the phones camera. would probably be easier than pasting jpegs in there anyway.

        • Well, the jpeg I dropped in the DCIM/Camera folder appears, and in the app when I go to the Photos section I see it and it says Camera Backup up-to-date. But still no bonus data.

        • @Its4me: That's weird, I had the same problem until I enabled WiFi then in the bottom right hand corner (options button) you Refresh, or you swipe down or something. And then after 30 seconds you should see the updated bonus data 15gb

  • Thanks, I've got 30GB now.

  • This is One hell of a Drive.
    pun intended.

  • +1

hey it says by turning on you get only 3gb extra?

    • proceed with the app, then go into settings and you will see storage:30GB available!

  • My account is showing the bonus 15gb Camera Roll. I must have got this from the $40 Lumia 540 offer. This was when that offer was available, may not still be available to windows phones, but worth a try if you, like me, currently do not have iOS or Android.

  • I have got loyalty bonus for 10gb as well

  • how does onedrive compare to drop box?

    • +2

      Were you aware of this?

      • I did not know this, thanx for the links mate.

      • no..thanks..

but in the end would you prefer dropbox or one drive

        btw according to edward snowden

don't use dropbox since I think he said is not encrypted or something like that..

        just google it..

  • Anyone know how I can use a different ONEDRIVE account under my XBOX ONE? When I installed the app on my XBONE it used different details to the one I have on my iOS. Different emails address for both systems

  • 30gb ahoy - thanks

  • thanks got 30gb

  • thanks for 30gb. good alternative to dropbox!

  • Might be going blind but how exactly do i Turn Camera Roll on in the app? I can only see the 'camera backup' option under settings.

    • it ask you when u install the app

  • i didnt get it :(

  • Hi

does this app need to be open each time, if u want it sync camera roll

or does it do automatically when you take a photo?

  • I have 60GB, said it would give me another 3GB, didn't

  • thanks got 30 GB !

  • how can we install the desktop program for two different users?

  • I only got an extra 3GB, already had 25.

  • Offer is still valid, just followed the instructions and now have 30GB, thanks OP.

  • Got the APP in my Samsung NX300 20MP camera clicked photos to upload and it will only allow 9 pics max at one time then it says upload limit exceeded.
