The Sony car audio prices are normal JB prices. Am I missing something about the 20% off?

    • Yeah they aren't showing the discount, they are def discounted, the catalogue shows some items like the 4050 for $178, here is catalogue so you can see the before prices
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/Global/Pageflip/2014/11/10/index.h…

      • LOL, the catalogue is more expensive than their 'normal' online prices.

        Sony MEXN5050BT with Bonus Blu-Ray Player $171
        Catalogue $214
        Last week price $127 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/171016

        • Nah that post was not right as they were not including the Blu-ray players even though It says so.

Page not found on Sony 4k tv

  • The ad says its the KD65X8500B which is the 65" model number at $1698. I wander if someone could get away with buying that model number?
    http://i.imgur.com/LvTEnSe.jpg

    • I doubt it, the 65" is $3200

    • The ad also says 55" (which the KD65X8500B is not), so obvious typo.

  • TV is only 50hz.

    • Are you sure? TGG have the 49" on special as well (pretty cheap I might add) and it says it's 100Hz…

      http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/sony-49-inches124cm-uhd-led-lc…

      • hmm interesting, wonder if its 100hz at ultraHD res or FullHD res :)

      • +1

        Motionflow xr200 = 50hz
        Motionflow xr400 = 100hz
        Motionflow xr800 = 200hz

        • That's good to know! I had an old LCD Toshiba 50Hz and it truly sucked at sports and even PS3… Mate had exactly the same TV but with a 200Hz panel and the difference, especially on the PS3, was night and day!!

        • @educalifa: I have an old Samsung 50hz and play games online watch AFL And other sports and never noticed a problem

        • @TRENT86:

Wait till you try it against a 200hz panel

        • @educalifa: well as I said I have no lag at all playing now so what would I notice?

        • @TRENT86: The lag I can't say… but you do notice how much more fluid the images are on the higher Hz panel. Say, for example, if you're playing a FPS game, when you turn around chances are you won't have to readjust your aim half as much due to how smooth things happen. When watching fast paced sports (I noticed heaps on MotoGP) it almost feels like they've slowed things down a bit.

Saying that a TV is "only 50Hz" means nothing really unless you explain it.
It just shows that you have fallen for the marketing hype and don't really know anything.

Sony TV isn't even full 4K res only ultra HD res

    • Yeah that's the same for LG http://www.lg.com/au/tvs/lg-55UC970T

      • Damnit 50Hz :( http://www.rtings.com/info/fake-refresh-rates-samsung-clear-…

        Is there any non-curved, non-3D, 55/60" 4k 100Hz minimum HDMI2 screens under $2k TRENT86? In my research…

(All Hz are real as per URL above, and RRP)

        LG
        55UB820T 100Hz HDMI2 unknown $1999
        60UB850T 100Hz HDMI2 unknown $2899
        55LA9700 discontinued

        Sony
        55X9000B 200Hz HDMI2 $3499

        Samsung ($300 cashback with soundbar)
        HU8500 200Hz HDMI2 $3349
        HU7000 100Hz HDMI2 $2229

EDIT: Found one for you LG 55" (139cm) Ultra HD SMART LED TV 55UB820T $1499 + 10 Free Blu-rays
          http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-55-inches139cm-uhd-led-lcd-…

        • Yeah, I'm on the same boat… I think I'll wait for the 2015 line up. Samsung will be offering most TVs with at least 100Hz and HDMI2.0 so here's hoping they'll have some affordable model at a decent size(i.e. 50"+ and around 1.5K)

        • I think I'll wait for the 2015 line up

          When will that be?

        • @TRENT86: Sweet BUT, it doesn't have WebOS.

          The 850 does and is $1699 at DJ's http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?urlRequestT…

But not sure if that includes 10-15% off as per this deal http://www.davidjones.com.au/Whats-On-and-Events/2014/11/Christmas-Comes-Early?cm_sp=HP_Hero--w118_3DayOffers--ShopAllOffers

If so it could be $1444-1529…

        • @aimbot: WebOS Isn't worth hundreds more, you still get web browser, smart tv and magic remote

    • Are there any TV screens out there that are higher than 3840 x 2160?

    • +1

Looks like that's the case for all 4k TVs:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4K_resolution

4K has become the common name for ultra high definition television (UHDTV), although its resolution is only 3840 x 2160 (at a 16:9, or 1.78:1 aspect ratio), which is lower than the 4K industry standard of 4096 x 2160 (at a 19:10 or 1.9:1 aspect ratio).

The television industry has adopted UHDTV as its 4K standard.

      • Reminds me of when the HDD manufacturers decided that a Megabyte was 1,000,000 bytes.

    • I don't think any of the '4k' TVs are actually 4k - they are all UHD. But I could be wrong.

      Finally. Cheers :)

Hmmm. Wonder if the price drop is because Panasonic seem to be releasing a new model (AX670) 55" UHD TV? See here: http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/panasonic-55-139cm-4k-ultra-…

I can't find much information about this AX670, except on Harvey Norman's New Zealand website. I think this new AX670 is probably the Australian equivalent to the AX700 in Japan…..

    • Nah it it was in comp it would be lowered permanent

  • My research indicated that the sony with the panasonic not far behind it is the best UHD TVs on the market.

These prices have dropped rapidly on the past 3 months, when I was looking at the KD65X8500B around June/July it was going for $4,500.

Such an insane price drops happening so rapidly I saw this is just a holdover period while the real standerd of 8K and OLED comes into play in the coming months/years. I decided to wait a year or 2 before I personally upgraded.

    • By then you will be waiting for the new standard 16K laserLED TVs, and then wait a bit more for 24K TVs ….. you can wait forever and in the meantime you have years of your old TV. Buy what suits you right now, not what may be in the future (distant future for electronics).

      • I understand where your coming from but your clearly missing my point.
What I am saying is tech is in a transitional period at the moment, look at the rapid decline in prices on the UHD TV's in the past few months, I feel so sorry for people who purchased recently.

I'm not saying to wait for ever, but big shifts in tech don't happen very often, every few years, we are currently in the early stages of that change (4K TV's available but how much content is available?) by the time there is enough 4K content to justify the purchase of a 4K TV they will be at realistic and affordable prices. Then what will be regarded as a premium TV will be OLED technology for example, or potentially 8K.

Now the idea of "wait for 8K" then 16K etc.. at that point wouldn't be the mindset the thought process would be that this is a significant shift in tech, that won't move much in the near future, So I will take advantage of the fact that some of it is on the market, forcing the lowering of prices of the current tech (that is still very new)

I wrote that in a rush so I hope it made sense.

    • Don't hold your breath. 8K is not coming in 2 years time. Not according to this article and Sony.

      http://www.flatpanelshd.com/focus.php?subaction=showfull&id=…

      • Tokyo Olympics will be recorded in 8k res

      • Amazing read, thanks for the article, very informative, but as said in the article, they did not expect 4K to come in so fast, I suspect the case to be the same with 8K, it was published over a year ago, tech is moving fast, I'm not saying I will wait for an 8K TV but I am saying that I'll wait for OLED and 4K or 8K if they get there in 2 years.

If they were giving away 4 sets of 3D glasses, I would buy that 55" TV… I don't 'need' one, but I do WANT one!… then again a work mate I believe bought this same model, when they were giving away a PS4 with them via redemption.

  • do Sony TV have built in cinavia? I know the PlayStations and all BluRay players do.
What if I plug a hard drive with movies on it into the Sony 4K TV will it pop up a cinavia warning for some?

    • No problem playing mkv on my Sony 4k TV. It can also stream mkv from your computer.

    FYI the movies are:
    Captain Phillips
    The Amazing Spider Man
    The Amazing Spider Man 2
    Ghostbusters
    Premium Rush
    SALT
    Battle: Los Angeles
    Money Ball
    The Patriot
Total Recall (I assume this is the new one so that makes 9 movies available… at most)

BTW, the movies need to be unlocked over the Internet and expire on 30/9/16.
