    The goatse of computer monitors?

    Excellent price!

I have the 29 inch dell version of this monitor same resolution and for FPS it's awesome highly recomend for this price it's a no-brainer!

  • $199 will buy you a 25'' 21:9 IPS display (this one) at MSY that's 23'' wide and 9.7'' high, for an area of 220 sq in.

$199 will buy you a 27'' 16:9 VA display at MSY that's 23.5'' wide and 13.2'' high, for an area of 310 sq in.

    http://www.msy.com.au/peripherals/13468--acer-27-k272hlumhw3…

And I guess VA and IPS are about on par when it comes to gaming. If you want the field of view, there should be a setting in any FPS to do that, you don't need an ultra-wide monitor explicitly.

They also have a 2 ms TN, the VE278H, for $10 more, $209, but it looks to be out of stock atm.

      Resolution…

      • -2

Would rather get three 22'' TN - ubiquitous enough to be everywhere cheap, including being thrown out - and get more than twice the horizontal px with near enough the same vertical size on that account. But if you really can't stand the bezel (doesn't matter as much for flightsimming/racing), then yeah.

      • Forget that 27" monitor its still 1920x1080… Useless on a 27"

Bastards! I just tried buying the 27" Acer @$199 and while I was checking out the price changed to $259!!!!! I've sent them a complaint.

      • Was about to drive up on my lunch break to do the same. Pretty disappointing. Oh well I probably don't need a new monitor anyway.

        • +1

Yeah I only had it in my cart for a couple of mins while I was setting up an account and when I returned to it it had already changed to $259. I hope they come to the party otherwise it'll be another store that's going to get blacklisted by me.

  • WHO LIKES MATH?

Can somebody tell me in plain english how many inches this monitor would be if the height was kept the same as is, but was made to be 16:9.

It sounds like it would feel like a downgrade from my 24" 16:9 monitor due to losing vertical screen.

    • My rough back of the envelope calculations say that this monitor would be about 25.14 inches wide by 10.77 inches tall, and that a 16:9 monitor that was 10.77 inches tall would be near enough to 22 inches diagonally.

I've always used this online monitor calculator which compares the size of different screens:

        http://www.displaywars.com/25-inch-21x9-vs-20,1-inch-16x9

        • +1

Wow, the height of a 20" 16:9 monitor… yeh I'm definitely passing on this lol. I remember 20" 16:9 monitors and they were just too short and I went to 22 and then 24 just to resolve that.

          Thanks for your help!

        • @musicinbed69:

This has a VESA mount, just rotate it 90° :)

  • +3

    Y so cheap??

  • I'm tempted, as at present I've got two 22"s, but owing to a small desk they're one on top of the other, which isn't great for neck movement. While a higher resolution 27" was the eventual plan, I can see occasional use of this screen's ability to show two inputs side by side.

Does anyone know much about the inputs in this? Product page mentions USB 3.0, but I can't see the ports in the product photos. Also looks like two audio ports, possibly an audio out (a plus in my book), but no text information on product page.

Hey wow! When did MSY get product pages!

Congrats MSY, you've now moved into the late 90s.

    • +5

They've had them for at least the last two years. It's still an embarrassingly bad website for a tech store. I recently placed an order to pick up in their Brisbane store yet it placed it for a store in NSW.

    Great bargain!bought it…now I only need the computer…

  • Should I get this 25 inches or the Crossover 290M. CrossOver is around $360, but it is 29 inches. Both are LG panels and same resolution.

    • get the crossover

      no brainer

      • +1

i wouldnt say its a no brainer since you have better mandated warranty at msy, and you probably wont get dead pixels

  • So bloody tempting :( Anyone wants to buy a 3 months old Dell P2314H???

    • $100
      ozbargaining :)

      • +2

Only if you allow me to pay for express shipping and extended warranty

  • I just bought this last week for $270. Any chance to get refund and get this deal? :(
You need a mini DP to DP cable to make it works on Mac

Monitor like these are better off as productivity screens than actual gaming monitor.

  • I need a second screen - already havea 27" U2713HM…argh! What to do. Want the same, but this is as good?

  • So this is like a 21" monitor but wider and 4k resolution?

    • Exactly that!

  • So… You buy this, and your laptop can't support the resolution.

Can you hook up your PlayStation and use its full resolution?

  • Is this one good for TV and Movies though???

    21:9 vs 16:9, your takes???

    • Tv shows/youtube will have vertical bars on the left and right. Movies will fit nicely, with some stretching black bars will be minimised/gone… far too small to watch movies in imo.

  • Just got an email from MSY Ultimo… SOLD OUT

  • -1

Worst aspect ratio ever!! Just feels wrong. Side by side A4 documents don't even show you the full height without zooming out. 16:10 or 16:9 if you must.

    • Works great for video editing, full 1080p with additional 640x1080 for tracks/layers/properties.

  • Finally a screen that can show the entire length of my….

    • Your mate (Dick)?

  • -1

None in ultimo by the way (even though at the time of purchase there was stock in ultimo shop) :)

  • Purchased!

  • Too bad it doesn't have 120hz.

  • Would this screen be good to hook up to a macbook air for day trading charts?

    • Depends if you're using a program or via web browser I suppose… I use the 34 inch version with eSignal running on Win 7 Parallels and prefer it over my three 22" setup, it's more seamless.

  • Could a thinkpad x230 drive this at full resolution? My googlefu can't find the answer.

  • Price back up now.

  • Got one 2 days ago and its a lot smaller than i like……. would anyone like to buy it off me for the same price ($200). located in Brisbane.

  • Has anyone bought this online and received theirs yet? I am still waiting and will probably call them tomorrow - the status of my order is still pending and still hasn't changed though and I'm hoping they just forgot to change this and hopefully it's already been shipped.

    • i havent received yet. 7 days and no response.. glad i paid with paypal

      • Hey check the status of your order on MSY - mine changed to shipped so hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow

  • If anyone in Sydney is looking to offload theirs, please PM me. Missed out on the deal and this size would suit my small desk.
