Hmmm, I wonder what "turducken" is… curiously, if you swap the 1st and 2nd halves around, you get "'ucken turd"… which does not sound very appetising. ;-P

    • +9

Turkey stuffed with duck stuffed with chicken. Meeeeeaaaaaatttt…..

      • +4

        and hopefully wrapped in bacon

        • +5

Yes the woollies ones are wrapped in bacon…….ohhhhh heart clenching in anticipation.

        • +1

Just had the turducken sausages. Pretty good. We were joking that the chicken and turkey were free-range but the duck tasted a bit more caged.

          They're probably all caged.

I was a carnivore for 27 years and I've never heard of "turducken".Is it a new thing?

        • +3

I think it's an American thing, before this year I could only find them at aldi. The woollies ones are not the traditional whole chicken in a duck in a turkey but a chicken and duck breast in a turkey roll with fig and pastachio stuffing wrapped in bacon. Glorious!

I just came back from woollies with turducken sausages (marked down of coarse!)

        • @franga:
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turducken

Turducken is a dish consisting of a deboned chicken stuffed into a deboned duck, which is in turn stuffed into a deboned turkey.

          Holy cow!

        • +5

          @DeWalt:

          "Holy cow!…"

That got me thinking… why stop at the turkey? Why not shoe-horn the "double stuffed" turkey into a pig, then jam the pig into a cow?

          Copiturducken

        • @GnarlyKnuckles:
You're thinking big! Along the lines of the whole stuffed camel
          Eggs > fish > chickens > sheep > camel

        • @GnarlyKnuckles:
look up Engastration for other versions but I remember there is a hoofed version of a turducken.

From memory its a cow stuffed with a pig stuffed with a sheep.

        • +1

          @GnarlyKnuckles:
That's a bit of overkill, and may not fit in the oven very well.

Why not go the other way, and stuff a quail into the chicken?

        • @GnarlyKnuckles:

          then stuffed into a rhinoceros

          stuffed into a blue whale

          stuffed into a tyrannosaurus rex

          stuffed into a black hole.

        • +2

          @Son ofa Zombie:
Soz to "burst your culinary fantasy" SOaZ, but there is simply no way you could stuff a blue whale into a T-rex; the blue whale is WAAAAY bigger.

        • @GnarlyKnuckles:

          *sperm whale

      • +2

Turkey stuffed with duck stuffed with chicken. Meeeeeaaaaaatttt…..

Bloody hell you were serious !
I thought you were joking !!!!!!

Anything with turd in its name has me a little dubious.

    • Thanks I added the link to the description.

  • Hi- Just an observation. I noticed Turduckens were half price last weekend at my local Woolworths. I reckon they are being turned over rather slowly due to their novelty value. Hence, I would wait until the last moment before purchasing. I think they can be had for a 70% discount for those who are keen to wait!

    • Same at my local… At $49 each full price for 2.2kg worth, not a bad deal at 50% off.

  • I'm pretty underwhelmed by these.

Some are not bad like half price kettle chips/drinks (which are on now anyway at Coles)

  • +3

meh nothing special. Woolies hasn't had anything good for a while.. .apart from junk food.

  • XMASDAY12 expired EDST.. only just past 9 here in WA!

  • is the Nando the gift pack (eg sauce things), not the gift cards?

  • Kettle sea salt, tastes saltless, No visible signs of salt,
Maybe they forgot to put it in……….
    compare to Natural, no comparison.

  • I bought a nandos gift pack from woolies yesterday and it was 40% off so it's strange this deal is for 30% off.

  • Code working today, Turducken + Pork Leg Roast + Delivery = $38.
    Thank's Op.
