Canon Ixus 145 $19 - after $20 Cashback @ Kmart - Check Stock

1000

Was today at my local Kmart for some other things when i saw the Canon Ixus 145 for $39.- on clearance. At this price i had to buy it, at home after trying to find some reviews i noticed that there is a $20.- cashback from Canon on it so it turns out to cost me $19.-

I asked the store employee and she told me that other stores have stock too but please check before going there if stock available, don't mention the price. I have uploaded the invoice so you can price match it if they have some higher price or if you want to to go to HN, TGG, DS, JB and so on…

Enjoy the camera, really awesome for that money and reviews are pretty good too.

Early morning OzB wit. The company name Canon is spelt with one 'n', whereas a "cannon" fires projectiles using explosive propellant like gunpowder, thus you only get "ash back".

Perhaps not a gutbuster, but at least worthy of a wry smile ;)

  • Canon Ixus 145 - Anything left in Kmart? I can't find in their website to do pricematch?

  • Thanks op bought one for me and one for mum. Many left at Gladstone QLD Kmart (I'm home for Xmas). Local bigw and Harvey Norman priced at 109 and 89 respectively.

Blimey coming home to post the bargain of the day, and its been about for nearly a week! Plenty left in New Town, Hobart store.

  • Picked one up from the Brunswick (VIC) store Barkly Square, still had about 6 left. Claim done, just need to wait for the cashback to come though!

  • do you know if they were all black?

    • To be honest I didn't pay that much attention, they were stacked in a glass cabinet counter. The one I grabbed was black.

  • None left at Chatswood NSW, picked up last from Warriewood NSW yeasterday. Cashback submitted. Thanks OP

$5 after cashback… hmm should I spend my $5…need to be sure

    • $5 - you affluent b… KT.
It's less with the rebates on some PayWave cards.

After Cashback, cost me $4.50 today with 2% ING rebate, but would only be $3.75 with ME Bank 5% rebate ;-)

Found stock at first store I called.

  • Picked one for $25 @ Kmart Castle Hill, they had 6 available when I rang before I made my way down there. Got them to hold one for me just in case, at you know what? Someone rang after me and bought the rest of them. None left @ Castle Hill. (none at Hornsby and Chatswood either)

  • None left Western suburbs of Melbourne. I got the last one. Sorry, y'all.

  • which ones in sydney still have stock?

  • Attempted to demand the difference but failed.

I then asked if I can return and repurchase but also declined..

I will try my luck at another Kmart store later in this week.

    • Wow they let me return and re-purchase. I needed two separate receipts.

    • This at indooroopilly qld for me too.

      • Got lucky tonight at garden city.

  • Would it be likely that Kmart receive further stock before January 30?

    • +1

No it was bought in specially for Christmas.
Just did my cashbacks today -two cameras, $10 total spend….nice.

  • Why it's not showing online when searching in Kmart website??? It should show wherever it is available. Shouldn't it?

  • called a few NSW stores, NO STOCK: Blacktown, castlehill, parramatta, chatswood

  • Anyone got their cashback yet? Haven't heard anything from Canon, not even a 'confirmed' email :/

    • no email confirmation. Has it been 30 days yet?

  • Picked up 3 at bass hill. No more n stock.
Seriously though it looks and feels like a cheap ass beginners camera compared to my 4 year old ixus 130.

I've also owned ixus 30, 40 and 60 and 145 must be the most ghetto build I've ever seen

    • Very plastic unit & was sold as entry level basic camera by Canon for around $110.

But almost identical looking to my current camera, an Ixus 220 HS which was $128 in an OzBargain deal 6/12. 145 has better zoom but lacking optical stabilisation, use of CHDK, less light sensitivity & metal case. But at $3.75!

Won't keep it - will be a cheap gift as I prefer the $39 Kmart Samsung's 12X zoom, USB charging (no extra charger & cable on my travels), optical stabilisation, & WiFi operation to add features to my (5MP) $79 4G smart phone.

The other 2 $59 FujiFilm models I saw yesterday at Kmart are good value, but can't fit in my pocket.

For anyone that also doesn't receive a confirmation screen after entering cashback details…

I phoned Canon, who gave me a number to phone about their promotions/cashbacks. It's 1800722229 - so don't phone Canon - phone that directly instead.

Explained situation. They said to send an email (using the email address you tried to do the cashback with), to: [email protected] - attach scans of the receipt/s - and in the email body include this info:

    Full name
    Address
    BSB number
    Bank account number
    Account name

So have that email typed ready to send before you call and they'll "fix it up".

    • Thanks - I'll try this.

Got last 13 pieces few minutes ago from Kmart Campbelltown

    Thanks Ops!!!

    • You bought 13 cameras? ………….Why?

      • -2

Because they had only this much stock left :)

        • Are you reselling them?

        • @Thrift: I hope he played it safe and did 13 separate transactions. Canon might stop his evil plan in it's tracks unless he has 13 aliases!

        • +1

          @rawm:
You can claim as many Cashback as you like, as long as each is on a separate receipt.

No need for aliases with this offer. Promoters wouldn't deal with 13 claims by 1 person differently to 1 claim each by 13 people - the cameras were sold, which was their objective.

          11. Participants can submit more than one claim provided that each claim is made on the basis of a separate transaction with a separate receipt, and is otherwise made in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

Correct me if I read that incorrectly.

        • @brucefromaustralia: Sshanaz will be a very happy man then! Good sluething bruce.

        • -1

@rawm: There were 13 receipts and Canon has already validated 8 claims.

Nothing says narcissism more than a 13 camera selfie stick ;-)

  • None of the Samsung, Fuji or canons at Fairfield store. Might try the campbeltown store tomorrow

  • What size/type of memory card are you guys buying to go with this camera? The online manual isn't much help. It states a bunch of options without giving any recommendations:

"The following memory cards can be used, regardless of capacity:

    SD memory cards *
    SDHC memory cards *
    SDXC memory cards *
    Eye-Fi cards

    • Cards conforming to SD standards. However, not all memory cards have been verified to work with the camera."

I guess I need estimates how many images fit per GB, and does the type or class of card matter?

    • Ok, done some research and I think a 16GB Class 10 SD Card will do. Where's somewhere reliable (online), with reasonable prices, to purchase SD cards? i.e. Not known for selling fakes.

      • Common deal here. A Search will give a quick answer to your questions.

Class 10 is necessary for HD movies. I use some $9 32GB Class 10 Samsung micro-SD from a MSY deal, which included adapters. Although few would probably recommend MSY as a supplier, there were 279 +, 13 - due to lack of supply.

        • I've just finished some research and calculating. For those interested - and I won't go into the details because I was going to post it, but then mucked it all up… But basically, a fully charged IXUS 145 battery will deplete before you fill an 8GB card with video. So a 16GB card has ample room left after a fully charged battery depletes. In the case of photos, it takes several battery recharges to fill 8GB.

So a 16GB is more than enough. But $9 for 32GB is nothing - so thanks!

        • Oops - that'll teach me for reading too quickly. Deal ended. Ok, where do folks recommend I purchase 16GB, Class 10, SD Cards?

        • @realfamilyman:
Yes, that deal ended very quickly.

8 or 16GB is good for most use. (Prices have dropped, so a couple of larger capacity eg 16 or 32GB cards are useful.)

Just returned from 6 weeks in Japan - used only about 2-3GB. Was using a similar Canon Ixus 220HS, as I previously commented. Smartphone is handy for many photos. With free WiFi, I backed up most days to cloud storage as well, from smartphone or tablet. That's where a micro-SD & adapter is handy, to transfer photos.

I just bought the Kmart $39 Samsung with WiFi - which can transfer photos automatically to a smartphone, & phone can operate / view the camera. It has 12X zoom, optical stabilisation, USB charging - handy features not on the Canon. This Canon will now be a gift.

        • @brucefromaustralia:

Don't know of a reliable seller, do you by chance? I don't need an amazing cheap price, since they seem to be dirt cheap already. I just don't want to purchase from ebay, due to reading about so many fake cards being sold there.

Anyone know if www.dx.com sells fakes?

        • @realfamilyman:
          A few deals currently.

  • A warning on some direct transfers to bank accounts. Suncorp Bank has previously stung me on the Microsoft Cashback promo. This offers t&c states we are responsible for such charges!

No fee applies unless payment is received as a Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS). A fee of $2.50 applies for RTGS inward payments. (Suncorp fees)

I will ask Canon Cashback if they use RTGS payments as Microsoft promo did, but think I'll get a cheque, or use a different bank.

    • I was stung by Suncorp as well two years ago on Microsoft promo but I remembered Microsoft eventually reimbursed the amount charged…

      • Microsoft Cashback were unaware of the issue until I raised it in 2012. After discussions they agreed to compensate us. That won't happen in this promo.

    • Rang Canon Promotions - they were unaware of this type of payment method, stating "it is a simple direct deposit into your account" & "we are charged for the payment" .

Have emailed Suncorp for their opinion.

Some banks may charge a fee for direct deposit or cheque deposit for this Cashback.

  • Has anyone received their cash back yet? I am a little concern since Kmart is not on their official list.

    • A lot of people's claims are approved. Mine was approved over the phone within less than a minute. They are really not that straight.

      • Thanks. Did you have to call them? I did mine on the website.

        • +1

I ran them for a seperate issue but when they got in my account, they approved it for me..

  • Thank you for registering your details.

Congratulations, you’re one step closer to receiving your cashback.

The Canon promotions team will now review your claim. If we require anything else in order to process your claim we’ll email you shortly otherwise please allow up to 30 days to receive your cashback.

If you have any questions regarding your claim, please contact the support team on 1800 722 229 or email us at [email protected].

  • Hi, Just noticed this post, and realised that I had been given an ixus 145 as a gift, I asked for the receipt, and it was purchased at Kmart Helensvale for $25.00 I have registered the cashback claim,, so effectively cost of camera is $5.00!! gotta be close to the bargain of the year so far? my issue now is,,, do I give the $20 to the giver of this camera. or keep it.??

    • Let me see - you were given a camera which included a Cashback offer, the giver did not claim the Cashback but gave you the receipt, you went to the trouble to claim it & wait, it will be deposited in your account… I think it's yours ;-) Of course you may want to share it with your generous friend :-)

Most of us would not see this as much of a dilemma. They gave you a $25 present originally worth over 4 times that. You still have a $25 present, with $20 to spend.

Nice to have friends like that, so appreciate them. But would you think so highly of them if they gave you a $5 present, after claiming Cashback for themselves? (I'm even less generous than that!) What if they made you think it was a $109 RRP present, but discovered on OzBargain they only paid $3.75?

I bought with a 5% off PayWave card, so the effectively cost of camera was $3.75 ;-)

  • One left at Kmart Aspley, Qld when I checked last night
