FeeBay, JetScum, Vodafail and other funny or adverse nicknames for companies?

There must be so many various nicknames OzBargainers (or people) use or have invented for those companies that we may dislike or want to make fun of. So what are they? Please comment below.

Personally I lol’d when I first saw someone referring to JetStar as JetScum here on OzB.

Also, are there some other companies that would deserve a nickname but don’t yet have one? Can we come up with some creative suggestions for new nicknames to describe companies or their questionable behaviour?

Maybe you can even invent a nickname here that catches on across the internet and even enters into general Aussie lingo.

    Does anyone call Kogan "Bogan"?

    • +14

      Nah, just its customers:p

    • +1

I've heard people refer to it as Logan

  • +17

REPCO. Rip Every Poor C**t Off.

    • +5

A lot of the names have been in use for years.

    • I'd laugh at that, why bring media attention to it. Only a petty company would do that. It backfires. They don't learn.

      • -2

Harvey Norman and its professional article
kogan and its article on how it lost thousands on a cheap canon cup which u can get for a few bucks on ebay
apple which sues practically anyone to protect its brand

        • +1

No shit. Sheesh. Context. Never said they won't sue, just said they'd be crazy to sue based on derogatory names. The comprehension these days.

Company can and should sue to protect their patents and reputation but for Harvey Norman to sue OzBargain because someone called them "Hardly Normal" is ridiculous. That was my point.

What does 'Harvey Norman and its professional article' mean?

          And 'kogan and its article'?

Are you referring to a news article? That's not their article, that's the article of a paper. You're going to have to provide links.

    • Can't see why you got negged for that.

The OCAU (Overclockers AU) forums had issues with a defamation case back in the day.

      It can happen :P

But yeah… don't let that stop the fun.

      • +3

        Hey..Didn't you..weren't you…WELCOME BACK !

        • Back in time for the new year :)

    The Crap Guys.
Dodgy Smithed Everything. Jacking prices up on feebay.

SpecSavers is also dodgy withholding the eye test data required to order prescriptions. So need a name for them. SpezSavers, SpecScrewers.

    • +4

Have never had a problem getting my script from them.

My understanding is that you own the script, not them, and if you request it they have to give it to you.

      • +2

Correct, You pay for it via your medicare card.

      • +1

Should have clarified ordering online prescriptions from another vendor. SS don't like that, obviously. They want your money. No shame in that but dodgy to claim they can't give it out and then you gotta beg for it or be firm.

        • +3

Again, never had a problem. Got my script from SpecSavers and ordered from Clearly Contacts. Perhaps your store are just difficult. You don't have to tell them you want to order elsewhere, just ask for your script.

My guess is though that the majority of people asking for their script, their motive would be fairly obvious. They can't refuse to give it to you though.

        • @Geewhizz: Wouldn't know. Just read the comments on here.

Never said they can't refuse, but they do make out like it's their proprietary info and then they relent and give it out reluctantly to those that assert their rights.

Comprehension checks aren't done at SpecSavers either right?

Don't assume. Have never actually walked into any prescription glasses shop actually, never had an eye test, never worn glasses.

Also good place to play spot the Aussie.

        • +3

          @King Tightarse:
Aussie as in a person with white skin or is there any other definition?

        • +1

          @ms:
Yes lots of folk wearing the evening man-dress with matching doily hat -not exactly traditional Aussie attire.
"Spot the Aussie" is an old joke from the 70's meaning an area with many new arrivals, and very few Aussies - it originally would have meant white Anglo Saxons but these days would mean people who grew up here and are… Aussie!

    • +1

Also "Garbo" for Garden City Shopping Centre in Brisbane.

      • YAAAAASSSS

      • +2
