This deal threatens my New Year's Resolution.

      • Lol

      • Which is?

        • Which is?

          No drinks under 10 cents.

        • +2

@ash2000: As an OzBargainer, shouldn't a new year's resolution be for "no drinks over 10 cents"? :)

  • +1

What's after chupa chup? Just in case they run out…

  • +3

What if I wanted to pay with card? Would I pay the 2.6 cents instead?

    • +1

      Great question!

    • +5

it's not rounded up or down when paying by card.

    • I was charged 3 cents using a credit card.

  • Just to be clear, it costs 1% of your purchase/s

  • note, this says its the zilched (1% sugar) slurpees. im interested to taste them anyway

    • I was able to purchase any flavour slurpee.

  • +1

Had a Caribbean flavoured zilch slurpee about two hours ago. Tastes okay. You know it's sugar free by the taste… the flavour was sort of… lemonade coconut… ish. Hard to say.

  • so how much does it cost for a chupa chup and slurpee together?

  • Its counter productive you have a zero sugar Slurpee only to have a chupa chup

    • From your teeth's perspective yes, from a calorie perspective no.

      • +3

Suger free products come with their own caveats. Have to balance them out in your diet.

  • Any purchase? So does that include fuel?

    • Yep. the only proviso: excludes tobacco & smoking related products.

      • Cool. So I could top up my Opal and get a super cheap Slurpee with it!

        • I was thinking the same thing about my go card!

  • How does 2.6 cents become $0.25?

    • -1

      2.6 aprox to 0.25 dollars

    • +3

How does 2.6 cents become $0.25?

It's $0.25 with a Chupa Chup purchase. I think this is the cheapest item available.

  • -1

    what about myki topup?

    • +2

The exclusions are tobacco & smoking related products.

  • +1

    Great find

  • -1

Isn't 1% of a Chupa Chup 0.25 cents? So how is 1% of a Chupa Chup 2.5 cents?

    So with a chupa chup and a slurpee, it's 25 cents + 0.25 cents = 25.25 cents which rounds down to 25 cents…

    • +3

That would be correct if that's what the deal was but its not.
It's pay 1% of the purchase price of a small slurpee. So a small slurpee must normally cost $2.60.
If it was 1% of the purchase price that would be counter productive marketing, I'm out of fuel but need a slurpee so I'll put $1 of fuel in, get a slurpee for 1c and hopefully make it to BP to fill up.

      • ahh okay then, sorry my bad.

  • Would a Myki topup be regarded as a purchase?

    • +1

I would say so, as mentioned multiple times above the only exclusions are tobacco & smoking related products.

      • And when is this free weekend?

        • +4

          But why male models?

  • +6

in my area, slurpee machines will probs be coincidentally all out of order every monday for the next month :D

    • You live in Wollongong, don't you? :p

  • +1

    In Ozbargain Universe.
    buy chupa…get a slurpee…return the chupa

  • -2

Does anyone know how many small slurpees it would take to fill up a Slurpee jar? Thinking I can refill my jar for about $1 & get 4 chupa chups instead of paying $3 to refill….
It doesn't mention anything about one small slurpee per person per day or anything ;-)

    • -3

If you're going to neg me, at least have the balls (7 Eleven don't sell them, but I'm sure someone on OzB can direct you to where you can buy some) to comment why you're negging me
Don't like the Slurpee Jar? No one's asking you to buy one!!!

  • What's the least amount of fuel that one can let out of the nozzle? Would it be possible to let out a drop, say 5c of fuel? That could earn a saving of 20c compared to the chuppa chup…

    • Most petrol stations have a 2L minimum.

      • +2

cheaper to fill up with slurpees.

  • +4

Do these make you crap your pants?

A relative of mine ate some 1% sugar jelly babies and he ended up crapping his pants.

    • Probably. Sugar free means filled with aspartame and that shit ain't good for any one.

      • +7

Sugar free means filled with aspartame

Please don't make incorrect statements like that. There are many artificial sweeteners out there. Not everything labelled sugar free contains aspartame.

These Zilched Slurpees have their ingredients listed on the Slurpee AU site:

        http://www.slurpee.com.au/slurpeezilched

The sweeteners it contains are SUCRALOSE and ERYTHRITOL.

        Not aspartame.

and "that shit ain't good for any one" isn't really informative either.

At least provide accurate info like I have done, and allow people to conduct their own further research to make up their own minds.

        • -3

Yes my comment wasn't terribly informative, but it was unquestionably accurate - Aspartame is detrimental to your health. And as you noted, people can now google that and decide themselves if they want to poison their bodies or not.

But thank you for the clarification, as in my haste, 7Eleven did indeed catch me out on a technicality.

As much of the public has now wised up to Aspartame (NutraSweet), companies are resorting to lesser known artificial sweeteners, often mixed with other natural sweeteners… which is the case here.

Erythritol is a natural sugar alcohol, but it's not that sweet, so they've also loaded your Slurpee Zilched up with Sucralose (Splenda) an artificial sweetener produced by chlorinating good old white table sugar… and you guessed it, this shit ain't good for anyone either!

As Mr Turnip notes, don't take my word for it, Google is your friend! :-)

    • +1

The zilched slurpees can sometimes give me minor tummy aches lol. But I always get the biggest size cup (massive) and drink it on an empty stomach.. soo.. I think I'm more sensitive to the sweetener erythritol, which can cause a tummy rumbling sensation (not bloating or anything). It isn't known to cause a laxative effect either.

So… you should be fine :P It's the stuff like maltitol and sorbitol that give you the runs when consumed in large amounts (ie. eating a packet of sugarfree lollies which contain those sweeteners).

  • It says buy "almost" anything

    • Exclusions are Tobacco and Smoking Related Products

      • And probably human slaves are excluded as well

  • Ozbargain catch up - meet you all at 7 Eleven on Mondays!

    • +1

Aw, man. I hate it when there's a queue at the machine :(

      :P

      • +1

Yes, pretty much the worst feeling ever.

Especially when the people in front continuously mix and try to get every nook and cranny of their cup filled up. >.<

        • +1

Was that meant to be sarcasm, or do you only get like one flavour & don't get your money's worth by making sure your cup is full? I myself tap the cup on the counter to settle it down after I've put some in, but then again I'll also generally wait if there's other people there until they get theirs so as I can do what I want :-)

        • +4

@amy_c: I don't care how long people take to fill their cups, or how they fill it (I'm like you amy_c.. fill mine up, wait to the side for it to settle and let others go in front of me if they're waiting… give it a tap/shake… then fill it up again lol).

I just get slightly annoyed when there's a bunch of school kids that fill their cups up, then continue to stand in front of the machine just chatting.

But then again, I still manage to feel like the loser for being 27 years old and still drinking mega Slurpees like a juvenile lol.

        • @waterlogged turnip: Well I'm 30 & I bought a Slurpee Jar the other week, so don't feel like a loser or a juvenile!!
Just tell those school kids that they need to go spend their mummy & daddy's money somewhere else ;-)

        • @amy_c: You bought a Slurpee jar??

You should've bought the $1 Slurpee wristband for the 11 week flavourfest.. would've given you a nice discount on every Slurpee bought, plus they scan your band and you get emailed prize offers pretty regularly.

I won a free jar after buying 2 slurpees. Got a pink one. It's pretty cute.

          I'm so ashamed of myself.

        • @amy_c:

Just tell those school kids that they need to go spend their mummy & daddy's money somewhere else ;-)

I'm scared they'd come back at me with something like "what's the rush, grandma? Gotta be back at the old folks home before afternoon nap time??"

          :(

  • +1

so we can top up $30 opal and get the drink for 5c, repeat every monday till 2/2/15?

  • How much do outlets make for topping up opal cards?

  • +1

has it been reported that 2.6c rounded up is the same as 2 x 2.6c of 5.2c which when rounded is also 5c.

    BUY TWO OF THEM, DUDES!!

    • so one purchase entitle to buy as many as slurpees at 2.6c each? really?
someone will buying 100s and resell

  • +2

They charged me $0.60 for a chuppa chupp…

    • At least they didn't make you buy 2

  • ok just went and top up opal $50 plus the drink, total i paid $50.26, by CC.
    7/11 in sydney cbd

    • +1

Umm, if you paid $50.26, you got ripped off…. $50 Opal card top up, plus a Slurpee at 1% of it's normal price (1% of $2.60 = 2.6c) You should have only paid $50.02 or $50.03….
      Unless you got 10 Slurpees….

      • +1

        oh crap.. i got charged 10% not 1% !$!!~!@#!!@#T%%^&&(*#$@!&($@#$

        • +2

Looks like they owe you 9 more Slurpees.

          mmm

  • Quite liked the Zilch Mango flavour.

  • +2

My 7 eleven sells slurpees for 0.60 pd 0.65 all up

  • +3

Thanks OP!!! :) just picked up 2 slurpees for $0.05 in total. The guy didn't even make us make a purchase!! Win!

    • :O

    I am fuming!

Yesterday i went to 7-eleven and filled up $40 worth of petrol and remembered this thread.

The cashier was stocking stuff nearby so i asked her whats the limit on this pointing to the sign.

    She said unlimited.

I got 4 for my family.

Went to pay and got charged $10.40 for the slurpees!

I said the promotion said its 1% of the cost of the small slurpee.

She looked at me like im an idiot! I said can you read the promo which is also on the poster behind you.

She rang up another store and then customer service to confirm.

And she refunded me $2.50 (charging me 10c for one and full price for the other 3)!!!

I said you said there was no limit and she said she didnt know about the promo.

    WTF!!!

The queue was getting long after that so i just walked out.

Emailed the slurpee ppl but no response yet.

Im so angry!!!! Why would i pay full price for anything! Im an ozbargainer!!!!

    • +1

I had the same issue at my local 7eleven, the attendant even had the poster behind him but he claimed not to know anything about the promo and refused to find out about it. I walked away and emailed headoffice, there's a $5 voucher coming my way but I still think it is in poor form.

  • Did anyone else have any luck purchasing more than one slurpee in 1 purchase?

  • If you guys want to purchase more than one slurpee you have to make individual purchases,
    4 slurpees + 4 chuppa chups=
    1 slurpee + 1 chuppa chup x 4 individually.
    if that makes any sense.

  • +2

Corner lonsdale/swanston dude parrotted $1 min.. add insult to injury bought 2x chuppa chips for $1.20 + 0.05.. not much of a deal, eh. sick and tired of these crooked 7-11 deals.. whether it be the free slurpee that I apparently already claimed.. or the voucher that won't scan or what have you..

Where is the 7-11 Rep to set the terms straight or do individual stores take advantage of nation wide promos to set their own rules?

Where is the full terms and conds as I plan on visiting a few more stores before midnight and wanna catch any potential con artists

EDIT: Slurpee rep got back to me.. they are going to check this out with the store.. we shall see..

    • +3

Well crap.. couldn't help myself. Didn't think it would happen again twice in a row.. cops nearly called (or were.. after he chased me outta the store) have footage.. and I NEVER do this kinda stuff. All over a slurpee.. yes I am ashamed of myself. :/

      • +1
      • This sounds like something I would do…
        Still proud of you though.

        • Need the footage….

  • +1

The 7-11 I went to was nice. I purchased fuel and used my company's fuel card. I then purchased a normal flavoured (full sugar) slurpee for 3 cents on my credit card. Easy.

  • Looks like a few people having issues with this deal, nothing new to 7-Eleven deals and miscommunication with its franchises i guess. Surprised they haven't ironed this out yet.

  • Does cashing out also count as a purchase?

    • Not likely.
