Free AFL Live Pass Subscription - First 10,000 Complete Classic League Commissioners

3690

The first 10,000 league commissioners that create a Full League prior to 2nd March 2015 will receive a 2015 AFL Live Pass for the length of the premiership season right up until the end of November, valued at $67.28. Prizes Page
Ensure you create a classic league, not an elite league

There are no further details that I have found that tell you when/how the subscription will be sent to you.

Once a league is created, as the owner you can add 10 celebrity players automatically, thus only needing 5 other 'real' players (apart from yourself) to fill the league.

Thanks to GaelicAU this is how to add celebrity teams:

  1. Click 'Classic'
  2. Click 'Leagues'
  3. To the right of your league, click the Cog / Settings icon.
  4. Under 'Manage League', click 'Players'
  5. Click 'Add a Celebrity Player' (big blue buttton)

Here's the link to the important part of the image from the email.

(tidied up midday 29/1 for clarity - as of editing, there are 4300 clicks through to the Fantasy site and 6300 comments here.. so likely easily half of the 10,000 leagues and subsequently at least half of the 10,000 passes on offer are gone or close to it! Get cracking on filling you league if it's not already full.)

  • I created an Open league and am yet to receive anything. Fingers x'd!

  • Woot just got my free pass!

  • Got mine too, thanks lads

  • Received a code for my close/classic league. Not one for my open league. Lucky I created a second account.

Does anyone know if the unique code needs to be used for the email address it is sent to?

    • +1

Very much doubt it. Should be able to be used for any email address. Why don't you try it?

    • that shit, nothing about needed to be a classic league!

      • Common sense… Open league could never be filled, therefore not meeting the requirements.

It was stated throughout the replies that it needed to be a classic league so it could be filled.

        • Open can be filled though. I filled mine.

        • +1

Open league is the style of game, 16 teams with scores added together, classic league sees you play against a team each week and get 4 points for a win, like the AFL ladder system.

In the open league the best scorer for the season wins. In the classic league the best scorer for the season could technically finish last, if each week their opponent scores higher than them.

My friend was once ranked in the top 50 overall (out of ~200,000) yet was coming third in our league (not a strong league) because he kept getting unlucky with his opponents doing well in one week.

        • @sween64:
How many people in your league? As far as I knew an open league meant open to as many who can join. I can see open leagues with hundreds of members and when setting up a new open league there's no option to limit the number players per league.

        • @Stone: Yeah it seems your right. Losing all round today!

          Cheers guys!

        • @Stone: 16. I did just add celebrity players to make it 20.

I thought I got an email saying my league was complete. Maybe open has a minimum of 16 to be counted?

I'm just lucky that I created a second account with a classic league.

On the prizes page, it's under the tab for NAB AFL Fantasy Classic, the general rules for all the prizes on that page say, "Eligible Participants must during the Season register their details to participate in the Classic Game or Match Day Game", the image linked to in the description for this deal says, "Create and complete your Classic League…"

          well shit

          @razzamatazza:

Last year, there were four week Live Pass codes that were meant to expire but were able to be activated up until the end of the year. I'm pretty sure 'THANKSAFL2014' was working all the way through the season (need to keep signing up with a different email addresses though). There might be something similar this year, 'THANKSAFL2015' maybe?

        • Cheers!

    • Tried it. Voucher code can be applied to any email address.

  • I already have a 4 week trial already underway. I have followed the steps, however I cannot see the “Redeem” field in my account settings and cannot redeem the voucher. Are any existing subscribers having the same issue?

    • I am having the same issue. anyone have any ideas? i tried selecting the 'annual pass' and putting the voucher code in there but i get an error. any help would be appreciated.

    • Same issue here. I cancelled my free NAB 4 week pass thinking it'd allow me to re-sign up but no luck.

    • I figure we might have to wait till our 4 week pass expires, and then apply the voucher. After all, the voucher expiry is Nov 2015 so it shouldn't be an issue.

      • +1

Correct. Even if you cancel you have to wait for it to expire. It's in the T&Cs.

  • Just got my code…"monthly pass" until 31/11/15!!!!!

    • +1

Have you actually clicked the "Subscribe Now" button yet and got a confirmation that it's valid until 31/11/2015?

I too get the monthly pass when I go through the process, but haven't clicked the button as I wasn't sure if the promo ended up only giving a monthly pass (30 days) which is valid to be redeemed anytime until 31/11/2015, or in fact it was a monthly pass that continues to renew until 31/11/2015.

      Although the promo states…

The first 10,000 league commissioners that create a Full League prior to 2nd March 2015 will receive a 2015 AFL Live Pass for the length of the premiership season right up until the end of November, valued at $67.28.

I was a bit concerned that they valued it as $67.28, rather than the standard $89.99 12 month subscription. Seems like the t&c's have a fair few holes on how it can be interpreted. But yeah, hopefully it's a case that it's a monthly pass that continues to renew until 31/11/2015!

  • +1

Just got my pass too :) I feel like giving the deal another + :)

  • Hey Guys, I missed out (created an open league not a head-to-head) :( and was hoping someone with 2 codes would be willing to part with one for an optimistic (and greatful) ozbargainer!

    Cheers!

    • Have all the closed leagues received theirs? The emails might be coming out in batches. Maybe later today or tomorrow, yours will arrive.

      • +1

Nah it was for classic leagues only :(

  • +1

I got my email. Have to wait to put in my code as I'm using the free nab code. The entire 2015 season for free, nab cup, regular season and finals!! 😃

  • did not get anything???? WTF?

    • Did you create a Classic League?

      • yeah i did

        • Did you get an email weeks ago congratulating you it was full? Remember not everyone gets the prize only the first 10 000.

        • @sween64:

I filled mine on 2/3 late in the evening and received the email with the free subscription this week, so I don't think the 10,000 limit was reached before the end of 2/3.

  • Dammit i havent got mine

  • Winning!

  • sigh, i went back and checked my league, all the other leagues i joined say 16/16 teams yet mine has 32? wtf

Now i reckon thats the reason why i didnt get an email? :(

if anyone has a spare code they dont need please PM me! thanks!

  • Got my email too! Thanks everyone!! Still using my free NAB code at the moment.

Hey has anyone tried their code on the WatchAFL service (the International streaming service). I was going to sign up for that this year @ A$150. I already have SmartDNS (Getflix) and have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, PLP etc and have found the WatchAFL service worth the extra coin because it lets me airplay to my Apple TV @ 720p.

    • I just tried logging onto WatchAFL with the AFL Live Pass logon and it doesn't work. different services.

That said - if streaming football is your only option the WatchAFL is awesome. I'm in Germany and just tried out my new AFL Live Pass… the quality is putrid. Probably acceptable for iPhone, but almost un-watchable for iPad. WatchAFL on the other hand - I can get HD quality streaming that I can watch on 140cm TV. Given I can't get AFL on TV here, it's certainly worth the money.

By the way… if you are going to register for WatchAFL, most clubs now have a digital subscription. It doesn't cost anymore, but I assume the clubs get a little coin out of it.

  • Yep. Got mine too! Woot woot!

  • Got mine as well. Hope the quality is acceptable.

  • Got mine! I assume it will renew every month for free given the email said it is free until Nov 2015

  • Unfortunately I'm another one who mistakenly made an open league instead of a head-to-head one. Thought it was fine since I got an e-mail saying "your league is now complete".

If anyone has a spare voucher code that they're not going to use, I'd really appreciate it if you could send it my way. Just send me a PM. I'll be eternally grateful. Otherwise I'm gonna fork out the $90.

    Cheers everyone!

    • Shouldn't have made a difference. I thought the only thing it said was about using a 'Classic League'?

      • +1

Yeah, I didn't think it would have either. It does say you have to create a "full league" and the open leagues supposedly cannot be filled, but I wonder if I can e-mail and try to get them on a technicality - since they didn't specify if it was an open or head to head league and they did e-mail saying my league is complete (which could be taken as meaning full).

If I manage to get anything from them, I'll report back. But I'm not hopeful.

        • Thanks, I did the same. Not too fussed either!

        • Please let me know how you went

    • Yep, just checked my league and wondering why I didnt get a code, and yep, I have league type as 'Open' and I have 32 teams…. lol sigh… what a stuff up!!!

  • If anyone has any spare codes or doesn't want theirs, I'm willing to swap a Event Cinemas Double Pass Movie Ticket (Not valid in VIC/TAS) for it. PM me if you want to trade or want more details.

  • +1

I won the free subscription. Thanks scubacoles!

    • No worries mate, got mine too.. :-)

  • so is this monthly subscription or the full annual pass?

  • wow it worked guys, amazing. automatically renewing monthly pass.

only on devices that get apps….can you get the afl app on chrome or apple TV to stream?

    • Airplay mirroring from iOS device to Apple TV works fine for me. Just have to adjust zoom on TV to get it full screen.

      • How?? I tried last night and couldn't see an airplay button anywhere. I had a replay match playing on the IPhone(5s) and apple TV turned on but couldn't find a airplay button on the phone

        • +1

There is no airplay button in the app itself (obviously disabled to make people think they can't get it onto TV). Swipe up from bottom of screen to show Control Center and select airplay from there. After selecting apple tv I think you might then need to scroll down a bit and switch on mirroring.

  • I got the email but doesn't look right, only a monthly pass, can anyone confirm it will definitely be the real deal, full annual pass ?

    • Read the email properly, especially the expiry date. It renews automatically each month.

      • Where in that email does it tell you that it renews a monthly pass automatically each month?

The email is open to interpretation.

As I wrote further above to someone else…

Have you actually clicked the "Subscribe Now" button yet and got a confirmation that it's valid until 31/11/2015?

I too get the monthly pass when I go through the process, but haven't clicked the button as I wasn't sure if the promo ended up only giving a monthly pass (30 days) which is valid to be redeemed anytime until 31/11/2015, or in fact it was a monthly pass that continues to renew until 31/11/2015.

  • Thanks to the original poster. I received my free pass !

  • so can anyone confirm this is annual pass instead of monthly pass? thanks

    • It should be annual and there's no evidence from any other winners that it's not so.

  • +1

Tried to activate my new pass, I get….
A free-offer voucher has already been used for this account
Only one free-offer can be used per calendar year

I think they are talking about the nab cup promo code,
    So not working for me.

    • You need to wait until the NAB voucher expires.
It said so when you signed up for the NAB promo

      • If that's all it is the great, but what worries me is that one code per year bit.

      • My NAB code has expired. You were unable to enter a code at all while the NAB code was active. Now that the NAB has expired, their system is using the "only one free-offer can be used per calendar year" condition to prevent the yearly code from working.

        [edit]
I just created a new account and the code worked fine.

        • Just got a reply from them…….
You will have to create another account with a different email address to use the below voucher.
This causes a problem….As my current email address is with bigpond and unmetered.

        • +1

          @Polak:
WHo cares what the email address is to sign up?
It's the IP address that you're watching with that determines whether it's unmetered, not the email address you sign up with!

FYI for all those that are playing…

    http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/AFL-Live/AFL-Live-Vouc…

Looks like they fixed the issue regarding not being able to apply the 12 month free voucher code after the end of the NAB promo code subscription ending.

Mine doesn't end until mid April so will test then, but judging by the replies from the Telstra Crowd Support Mod's, good signs we'll have no problems =)

  • Got mine and works great with the MK808B Plus purchased from a previous deal.
Using the android AFL app combined with the fake location app on a 60" TV and the quality is great.

I have not received my code at all, has anyone else not got theirs?
