I think the topic should be Extra 10%OFF EVERYTHING + 40%OFF Top 100 Items

    Its good to redeem giftcards…

    $250 David Jones eGift Card

Now 31,500 points Was 35,000 points

    • +1

Or, 10% off everything and up to 46% off top 100 items. :-)

      • I got this mail too and ignored it because they are way more than 10% over priced, but I didn't realise it applied to gift cards as well!

        So perhaps:

10% off everything INCLUDING GIFT CARDS and up to 46% off top 100 items

$250 Woolworths Wish Card is now on it's way to me :)

  • +15

Was just on QFF site looking at a flight to Perth, and the value of my points there.

Comparing cost of flights vs points of flights, going Sydney to Perth return. All fares and taxes with Jetstar is $490 return. Same day travel with QFF is 36000 + $62. So you spend roughly 84 points per $ if you don't count any extras Qantas gives you. The direct comparison Qantas flight is $628.

Fitbit flex is 10350 points (after 10% discount), and can be had for around $90 when on special, which is 115 points per $.

So it's still over 35% more expensive to spend your points on these discounted items than on a flight, at least Sydney - Perth.

    • +2

Go business mate. Then you'll see some value.

  • +1

Bastards, I took advantage of the last deal and got the GoPro Hero4 Silver for 56,000 points!

  • +4

Good for giftcards - posted to forums earlier.

Hmm. I was deeply considering the Gopro but remembered I don't really do any exciting activities worth watching. I suppose I could strap it to the dog.

    • +4

Record your awesome OzBargain adventures? No??

This might have some inspiration for you.

    • +1

I'm the same. I've always thought a gopro would be good to have and really tempted now, but struggle to think of a use for it.

I noticed recently that the rarely used Sony camera I have a waterproof case for has died. I haven't been scuba diving for about 3yrs though.

    • +1

If you think about it, you really won't be doing anything exciting if you use your points on the GoPro instead of flights.

      • Think the go pro might last longer than the flights.

        • Not if strapped to the outside of said flights.

  • Ugh far out, I ordered the Sonos Play 5 at 2100 last night and didn't check this page till this morning!

  • +1

wouldit be worth getting the webber Weber Family Q Natural Gas (Q3100AU) for 73,800 points (after all discounts)

    • Compared to RRP, you're getting about 1c per point value, which is not exactly great vs. flights, but better vs. vouchers and the like. How much do you value your QFF points?

      • thanks for replying!

well i thought i'd use my ff points for long haul flights eg. hkg but the tax is a put off and interstate trips are getting cheaper, so i don't value it very much i guess.

      • +4

So it's not just me…The taxes are ridiculous.

96,000 points + $900 Tax to get to San Fran. I could get tickets from STA for $1300 on Qantas just a week or so ago.

Many people actually say that going from Economy to Business Class is the best Value for $. How do you go about calculating that cost? Does it only apply for Qantas flights, or Jetstar also?

        • +1

log into your account, and on the left hand side down the bottom there is "flights calculator"

select USE and put in location to and from and it will give you the zone.

then you can select UPGRADE and key in the details. It will tell you how much to upgrade depending on the class of your ticket.

        • Even if you consider saving up and redeeming outright for Business or First class (as opposed to upgrades), you can get much better value — I know it may not be a very OzBargain thing to do to not fly economy, but you can think of it as a luxury you'd never pay cash for in the first place. Business and First are 2x and 3x economy in points, but way more than that in cash.

        • I was doing some searches to different destinations and the taxes in all instances are a killer.
I did a like for like comparison on Virgin using velocity points and so far Virgin is pulling ahead (taking into account the taxes, surcharges etc).

Would anyone with both Qantas and Virgin reward be able to verify this is the case for you too?

  • Man that gopro is really tempting… What you guys think, is it a good deal for the points?

    • +2

To provide an idea of virtual equivalency you can buy a $100 Myer gift card for 15,000 points.

      $50 = 7,500 points
      $100 = 15,000 points
      $200 = 30,000 points

      etc etc

    • +4

GoPro Silver retails at approx $549.

You need to spend 50,400 points to get GoPro Silver. So, you have to spend 92 points towards a $.

e.g. Woolworths gift card worth $250 can be bought with 33,750 points. So, you have to spend 135 points towards a $.

e.g. Qantas gift voucher worth $250 can be bought with 31,500 points. So, you have to spend 126 points towards a $.

In my opinion, buy something (useful) for which you have to spend least points towards a $.

    • Wish they had the gopro black on special to same rate the silver is, would be all over that!

  • Grrr I bought the Weber Family Q last time for 79,500 points! Wasted 7,950 points. Not happy.

  • thanks, just redeemed $600 woolies giftcard for around 80k pts

  • +1

I am not sure if my maths is failing me here but when I check a flight to Dubai it shows return is around $2000 and if I select an upgrade it is roughly another 72000 points. However I can get the same flight with Royal Bruni for $975 return. Where is the benefit here on using points for flights?

    • +1

The benefit is you'll be able to get rid of a ton of those pesky Qantas points, which you'd still have another 72,000 to worry about of if you flew with Royal Bruni. Plus you'll be helping keep Qantas afloat.

      • haha, good point. I should get rid of them on qantas store then.

      • Yes, please help Qantas CEO for his multi million dollar bonuses.

  • Hi All

I have about 20K points; with nothing really jumping out at me as the best deal; best to just use it on Woolies gift cards or something do we think?

  • can you use woolworth egift card in store?

    • +2

Yes. You get a card number to type into the EFTPOS machine and a PIN number.

      • awesome! cheers mate! saved me 100 points too

  • How do people get so many points? I'm only getting it through everyday rewards

    • +1

Credit card bonus offers, particularly those with a waived annual fee.
e.g. 40k NAB (still open) and 3x50k ANZ (expired).

    • Beaten to it.

      • +1

        poop

        • +2

          indeed!

    • +1

ANZ QFF credit card, back when they used to give 2 points for every $ spent overseas. A 2 month trip for work would get me ~50,000 points!. Then the bastards capped it at 1500 points/month.

      • So get multiple cards? Use their own rules against them.

    • Get on a plane.

nearly picked up the go pro silver 4 yesterday as it worked out as good value (when compared to vouchers). Thankfully I procrastinated, thanks OP :) By my calcs myer vouchers are .0066 cents a point .0066 * 50400 = $338 for the go pro silver 4. Cheapest I can find online is around $490 for a legit Aus model. So close to one cent per point which is not bad value.

Agree upgrades/travel are the best way to use them for a value per point perspective but just traveled to the US on a super tight ar$e fare that I can't upgrade (and I have family that work at QANTAS so it's not like I didn't try!!)

Also, if you think about it would you rather be stuck in cattle class for a few hours and have some inconvenience and have a great little camera to take on your next trip than sit in a bit more comfortable seat for only a few hours, most of which you sleep through anyways? I'm the former, not the later. Each to his/her own and again thanks OP!!

    edit: fixed an issue

    • So what happened, did you end up getting it?

      • sure did, that and some of the krosno stemless glasses. Can't believe I missed out that detail!!

  • SONOS speakers look so tempting….. I rarely fly for leisure so business upgrades are rarely used. Fly twice a week for work so have plenty of points, might deck each room in the house with a set of SONOS speakers :)

  • Bose QC25 are a good deal at 49000 points..only $320 worth of gift vouchers :)

    Edit*

    44100 points after 10% off

    • Bose QC20 on sale from 58000 points to 49000 points.
      44100 points after 10% off.
So approx. $300 value in points.

        • Can you repeat without the secret code talk?

        • According to the info on the Qantas store, you can only use BIG W cards at Big W Stores, are you sure you can use them at Woolies Supermarkets?

        • @leehungfei:

Be careful with the expiry date:

WISH Gift Cards, eGift Cards, Essentials Cards, Groceries Only Cards and Store Gift Cards purchased online or in-store expire 12 months from date of issue.
Returns Cards expire 6 months from date of issue.
You can check your Gift Card or eGift Card's expiry date, balance and transaction history online by clicking here or by calling 1300 665 249.
Expired Gift Cards and eGift Cards cannot be reactivated or redeemed.

        • @bargained:

so easy to use these GC in woolies. if you desperate, just use it to top-up your OPAL

        • @leehungfei:

100% CONFIMRED? Do you just enter the code during self checkout like your egift card?

        • @leehungfei:

Sorry but that link says nothing about using big w specific cards anywhere else.

Do you have experience using big w cards in other Woolworths stores or are you assuming?

        • @leehungfei: what's an opal???

        • @skyl: Yes

        • @bargained: Public transportation card in NSW: https://www.opal.com.au/

    11:59pm…GoPro purchased. I couldn't resist.

Still not sure what it'll get used for, but at the very least I'll get some memorable footage of my 18th old boy. Good excuse to go diving again too.

    • What about the other 17? :-P

      • 18th is probably a magic number to him lol

      • haha…I'd like to blame auto-correct for that, but I think it was just late night 'tardness mixed with distraction searching for a cheap micro SD.

Anyone got suggestions for microSD for the GoPro Hero4 silver???

  • I'm new to QFF and waiting for my 40k bonus points to come through :( How frequently do they run these sorts of discounts? When I get the points I don't want to waste them immediately if in a few short months I could get this sort of discount again!

    • I have used QFF since 2012 and this is the first time I see 10% everything promotion

  • Why is this marked as expired?

The 10% off is still valid until midnight tonight, just the discount off top 100 items is expired. Plenty of people buying gift cards and other things that weren't discounted.

    • doesn't seem to work for me.

      • fair enough. I hadn't tried it, was just going on detail in original post.

  • The promotional code is showing as invalid or expired.

  • The deal is still valid, why isnt it working anymore?!

  • +1

Does anyone have experience with shipping times? I'm wondering how long I've got to buy an SD card for my new GoPro.

Order status says shipped, with expected delivery date of 25/02. seems a bit long to me.

    • I order my Hero4 Silver on 19 January and received it 23 January. Expected delivery was 12 February.

      • +1

holy shit..I'd better get shopping then!

  • did anyone get their egift card already? Placed order on 3rd, still didn't see anything in the email..

    • I got my WISH eCard about 30 minutes after placing the order on Feb 2.

      • What?! should i be worried?

        • It looks like something has gone wrong with your order, have you checked your order status in the Qantas Store?
I've ordered these cards twice and both times it's taken about 30 minutes to arrive.

        • @bruiser:

Yes I check the order status..it's said despatched..and it's definitely not in the junk

P/S all sorted within minutes after phone call to Qantas store.. :)
