the 12 months license and car kit is great and the phone is awesome

If you're considering using any phones as in-car navigation, be wary of the applicable laws of your state. NSW and Vic, at least, have recently illegalised it.

      • +1

I heard they made it illegal, while driving, to have the phone in your hand, lap or held betwen your shoulder and neck.

Basically, you have to use the phone in a cradle.

Are you sure they made it illegal to use phones as a GPS?

        • +1

My statement was merely a warning to beware. The exact rules for Victoria can be found here.

Using a phone as a GPS while driving is prohibited unless it is secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle.

So yes, you are correct for Victoria.

          • @TimeOrMoney: Your statement wad not "merely a warning to beware", you actually stated that it's been made illegal in those states, which has since been shown to be false.
If you're going to make careless comments like that, at least own up to them when proven wrong or questioned.

Anyway, relieved that this is not the case.

            • @Josh81:

If you’re going to make careless comments like that, at least own up to them when proven wrong or questioned.

I did. In fact, I qualified my own statement with a source correcting it.

Indeed, my original statement should have been:

NSW and Vic, at least, have recently clarified the laws surrounding the use of mobile phones for in-car navigation.

People have been fined for using it without proper mounting, but I guess since impoze linked to a kit with a commercial mount, that point is rendered moot.

Apologies if my misworded, unqualified and unsourced statment confused and worried you.

Reviews for this phone seem to be pretty average: (5.8 out of 10)
    http://www.cnet.com.au/nokia-6720-classic-339295028.htm

There are much better phones in the $400 bracket that has a combination of both Wifi and GPS (this phone has no Wifi)

The 5800 Xpressmusic for instance (from the same shop) http://mobileciti.com.au/mobile-phones/nokia/nokia-5800-xpre…

I've bought 2 phones off mobileciti before on ebay and both were advertised as new and fully unlocked, but after a few months I realised that the internet was locked to vodafone. When picking them up I noticed that the seals had been broken (but didn't think much about it) and now I know why…they unlock the phones themselves while leaving some features still locked. Also, when trying to contact them about how to unlock it, they'd reply in broken English saying that it's fully unlocked…no help at all.

Just a word of caution if you decide to buy off them.

    • -2

The phone you have bought from us are vodafone network branded model phone, there are normally price different between network branded and unbranded, if you not sure please ask us before you purchase.

      • What? No, one was a Sony Ericsson and the other was a Motorola and they were both advertised as fully unlocked. There was no mention of Vodafone and they are not Vodafone branded phones..

        • Do you have order number or invoice number, i am happy to check for you.

          • @AHUANG: This is going back early 2008, so no I don't. It would have been good if I had gotten the help at the time though.

    Great deal !!!

  • Hey, Rep, before posting, try checking it on the other stores wt they are offering…We ozbargainers consider it a deal only when you are selling the same product cheapest with maintaining quality. Else "NO DEAL" ..here is an example

    http://www.einfotech.com.au/shop/product_info.php?products_i…

Let me know if you can beat this one..

    • +2

Oh read the phone Description carefully before you reply the post

      "Parallel Imported"
"Product may ship from our Overseas warehouse."

Australia stock vs oversea stock. beat or not?

      • +4

It's illegal for an Austalian seller to provide a "Parallel Imported" mobile phone to Australia.

        http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/1001/pc=PC_1784

I purchased overseas a similar model of equipment that is sold in Australia but it does not have the A-Tick mark - can ACMA confirm it is the same model sold in Australia?

No. ACMA recommends that you contact the supplier in Australia to confirm the compliance of the equipment with Australian standards. If the equipment is compliant, the supplier may apply the A-Tick mark along with their supplier identification.

Only telecommunications products that carry the A-Tick mark should be connected to a telecommunications network in Australia. It is illegal to connect equipment that does not carry the A-Tick label and penalties can be imposed. If you connect equipment that is not labelled with the A-Tick mark to an Australian telecommunications network, and this equipment causes damage to the network, the Australian carrier may also seek financial compensation from you.

Desnt matter where Nokia stock comes from, wt matters is wt contry phone is manufactored. from memory, there is a code u need to put in order to find out whre d stock is from - try googling this! if the company is reliable, what is the harm d buying cheaper one.

      • +3

According to their website, they only sell A-Tick marked Australian phones:

        Australian Stock Compliance Statement

Every mobile phone that we have available for sale here at MobileCiti.com.au is 100% Australian stock and are fully certified for sale into the Australian retail market. Every mobile phone is supplied with a local Australian manufacturers warranty.

        A-Tick Compliance Statement

Every mobile phone that we have available for sale here at MobileCiti.com.au is 100% Australian stock and are fully certified for A Tick Compliance. A Tick compliance ensures your new phone meets all Australian standards and is approved to be used on all Australian mobile networks.

So if their description is claiming that they may be parallel imported i would suggest to avoid it.

Yea its a pretty nice phone but, i have the 6220 atm and you can get it new for $220 and this phone is exactly the same except for the style and 3.5mm jack.. pretty poor on nokia's behalf

    • The main different between nokia 6220 and nokia 6720 are:

      • Battery life
      • CPU: ARM 11 600 MHz processor
      • Internet Data Speed HSDPA 10.2 Mbps
      • Subtle curved shape that fits the hand and face

more detail between two phones: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone2=2256&idPhone1=…

Also the price nokia 6220 $220 selling on market are vodafone branded. unbranded 6220 still around $400 mark.

  • its a nice phone (600mhz wow that's fast!) but well it's pretty ordinary

  • I have the 6700 and it has awesome battery life . Also the bluetooth works flawlessly with my car stereo which is better than my wifes E71 .

  • Nokia 6720 $359 after $20 discount coupon and plus free shipping, hopefully everyone here can see the value.
