GoCatch, the taxi hailing & payment app offers $20 credit when you link your Paypal account. This app is for regular licensed taxis so the same rates apply.

It works in NSW, Victoria, Canberra, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth, Adelaide and Tasmania. According to the map there is 1 taxi in NT (Pamayu) but that seems to be parked in a middle of a lake.

  • Up to AUD $20.00 altogether will be automatically credited to your goCatch account when you add PayPal as a funding source to your goCatch account through the goCatch app.
  • There’s a maximum of 1,000 x AUD $20 vouchers able to be saved to the goCatch app.
  • Should the full value of the voucher not be used in the first trip after adding your PayPal account, the remaining balance of the voucher will be available for subsequent trips taken with goCatch and paid with PayPal.
  • The offer is only available to users who have not previously added PayPal as a funding source on the goCatch app.

If you are:

  • an existing member who hasn't linked up Paypal, then link it up to get $20 credit.
  • an existing member who has linked up Paypal, you get nothing. Sorry!
  • a new user:

Sign up with a referral code to get $10. Use codes from the

GoCatch wiki and feel free to add your code.

I've only put my code in the wiki to start off the process but please use regular member's referral codes first.

So a new user will get $10 referral (referrer also gets $10) + $20 for Paypal for $30 in total. My friend sent me this deal tonight so have tested it out and both credits were added almost immediately.
You will only get your credit after they take their first trip. (Thanks Holysmoke)

Note, you will get a $.01 authorization from Paypal. Paypal/GoCatch will cancel the authorization shortly after.

          @tikei: you may not want to risk it, but I have received these vouchers before from GoCatch, and they never seem to expire. So if you don't end up using it within 30 days, check your Vouchers and there's a good chance it will still be there.

      Yes! I was until I realised I needed a positive balance in my paypal account. The fastest way to do this is for someone to transfer the money to you (when I tried transferring money from my own bank account into my paypal account it didn't work because that takes 3 days to clear).

      You enter one code, it applies the credit. Then repeat the process again and again.

          Hmmm… I just used the Voucher/Referrals menu item in the app. Where it says Voucher Code: I just entered the code, then hit the return button on my keyboard. Then it applied it. Then I just did the same thing again.

      When I first did mine, even logging out and back in didn't work. It wasn't until I entered one of the WELCOME codes that it showed up.

          Possibly. Did you get an email from goCatch saying "Congratulations! You're one of the first 1000 people to add PayPal to their goCatch account"? If not, then you've probably missed out. :(

          I checked their website when i was signing up and it explicitly said there were remaining tickets. Didn't say they ran out until maybe 20 minutes after i signed up!

    I think the 1000 sign-ups are over, the voucher for PayPal hasn't appeared in mine, although I added both Welcome and referrer links to get $30. I've also logged out and back in again, and it's still at $30.

    Looks like I'm a little late to the ballgame and might have missed out on the PayPal credit, but I remembered receiving a promotional card a while back.
    So, even without PayPal, my credit is now sitting at $45.
    Referral code from Wiki ($10), WELCOME ($10), WELCOME01 ($10), PREFERRED ($15) = $45.

    I didn't link my PayPal account just in case they decide to have another PayPal promotion later.

    As a first time user of GoCatch, how can I use the voucher credits in the account after booking the cab? Is there a button that I could click to 'Pay using credits' to pay the driver when getting off the cab? I only see the "credit card', 'PayPal' or Cash options.

      automatically comes out of the voucher credits first, then remaining balance you can choose between paypal or CC

    Also, does anyone how you go about getting a GoCatch taxi from a taxi rank at an airport. I'm wanting to use it at Melbourne Airport but the only way to catch one is via the rank as I believe it's illegal to pick up passengers outside the rank. Do I just wait and let everyone go through until I find a GoCatch cab?

        It was a comment in other deal that alerted me.

        But not using the $30 credit won't affect GoCatch much - they simply don't pay out to the cab company. If you want to hurt them, use the credit then close account & uninstall.

    PREFERRED $15 credit has been withdrawn, along with another $20.

    The only emails confirming credit I got were for PayPal & referral from Wiki.

    No confirmation was received for
    PREFERRED
    WELCOME
    WELCOME01
    So guessing those were withdrawn after redeeming.

    I wonder if GoCatch will claw those amounts back from accounts where those credits have already been use to pay cab fare???

      Apparently credit was taken back to $30max, irrespective of codes used. It happened to be those codes applied last in my case.

        Strange. I didn't add PREFERRED but added the others plus got 2 referrals. I wonder if as you say they are slowly going through accounts and removing credit. You didn't have multiple accounts or something else that would flag your account?

          No, I didn't do anything like multiple accounts - just 1 ordinary account set up just over 1 hour after deal posted.

          Downloaded app, set up account with PayPal, then redeemed codes for Referal, WELCOME, WELCOME01, PREFERRED. Showed $65 credit. Had feedback here that someone had redeemed my code, but not activated yet.

          Checked in morning… $30.

          System may set a maximum credit?
          If it does, $10 credit from others use of our referral code may be lost if credit is already too high?
          People reporting loss of credit are from various locations.
          No one has reported retaining credit over $30.

    I tried to use GoCatch the other day to get to the airport, i used the app to book 1 hour before i needed, no one accepted. i then tried 5$ tip, no one accepted, i tried 10$ tip, no one accepted all up after 25 mins of trying so i decided not to even try again with a higher tip, it was getting close to having to get to the air port from rockdale i just called taxis combined bam they had a taxi over within 20 mins.
    GoCatch was terrible, dont think ill try again.

      Yep. That was my concern too. I have cab vouchers but was hoping to use my credit instead. In the end I just booked a normal cab and paid with cab charge… No hasslees Or questions from the office this way

    I was going to use this at Melbourne Airport but I was under the impression that taxis could only pick you up at the taxi ranks. Go Catch confirmed this so unless I kept knocking on windows asking if they took GoCatch in the taxi rank, it wouldn't have been that great.

    What I did learn is that you can book taxis or whatever to pick you up at the public pickup area in which many people did.

    I used GoCatch the other day to go a couple of suburbs over. It gave me an ETA, showed the driver on the map and when he arrived he called me. Paid with the app, no issues at all. There was however a $2 booking fee that's standard for booking any taxi. I set a $2.50 tip as I always tip taxis due to them working for less than min. wage. It was all taken out of the referral pot so all good.

        I guess its all dependent on who has the app on, the time of day, and the suburb. I'm in Brunswick and on a Friday night it took about 8 minutes for a cab (saw only 1 nearby in the next suburb over). Now, I could have just walked outside of my building and got a cab so I'm thinking the app isn't hugely popular with drivers. Did you see nearby taxis on the screen when you were going to book?

    Works great in Adelaide. have used 4 times in last month. Haven't set a tip once, except I did tip the guy that brought me and the mrs home Saturday night as he was a champion. All taxis have called me when they picked up the job just to confirm how long they will be. Haven't had to wait longer than 10 minutes.

    On top of that, 3 people have used my referral so on top of the vouchers this has been a big winner for us!
