FREE Powerline Ethernet Adapters for Foxtel iQ Customers

690

You'll have to take my word on this one. I posted this deal 4 months ago, and now Foxtel once again has this offer, although unadvertised. It was communicated to me by a friend who works at Foxtel and appears to be on-going.

If you're a Foxtel IQ or IQHD customer who has not ordered an adapter previously, simply call 1300 784 144 and tell them you now want your box connected to the internet to access on-demand channels. They will gladly ship you out 2x NetComm NP505 Powerline Adapters for every IQ box totally free of charge within 5 days. Can't ask for more than that.

Make sure you stipulate 'free' in your phone conversation, and take down a reference number for the call (just in case).

Enjoy :)

  • thanks tightass, ordered just now in under 3 minutes, only problem was they said the technician who installed it,installed it direct to our modem, which wasn't correct as we did not have one at that time.No problems after that.

    Targeted offer to foxtel customers.
No really free, price is factored into a rental basis and you cannot get this is you are not renting a box from Foxtel

  • As a Foxtel through Telstra customer, I rang the number supplied above…took about 3 mins to get my free set ordered…thanks TA!

    • Same, just said I heard about the powerline promotion and I'd like to connect my foxtel box to my router in the other room and try out on demand!
      Easy

  • It'll be funny when everyone get charged for this in the next bill then having to spend hours on the phone forbthe next coule of billing cycles to get it corrected.

  • I got mine as part of the initial install ;) foc and it was foxtel from telstra.

  • Can I use this to extend my wifi into another bedroom using a netgear gg2200 router

  • My internet speed remains unchanged even with a powerline Ethernet adapter.

  • Good stuff, I got one free from Optus last month and now another free one from Foxtel :D

  • The best option for connecting a Foxtel box to the internet if it's a long way from your router is to procure or recycle an old wireless router, instal DD-WRT on it, connect it to the Ethernet connection on the Foxtel box and set it up as a wireless bridge to your modem-router. Works perfectly for me.

  • I acted on the last post on here regarding these adapters - when I called Foxtel they actually gave me a pretty hard time saying that I wasn't part of the offer, I had to carry on for a few minutes, then they conceded and posted them out for nix. They work very well, even on powerboards at each end (which isnt recommended but I had no option).

Hard to believe so many people still have Foxtel

This will only work for people on movies or drama packages. If you dont have either package, but basic, they will try to charge you 50 bucks
Foxtel/telstra will pretty much do anything to keep you from leaving, so like others have said you call always tell them that you want disconnect and will move to netflix instead next week.
Also, make sure you have an iq1.5 or 2. Iq1 doesnt have ethernet port, so they wont send them out to you.
An easy way to check this is look at the back or your box, if it has ethernet port or hdmi, youre set. If it just has scart then its a 1.0

    • Thanks for this :)

      • All good. Also i think they sent out an email recently to eligible customers about it.
Get onto this sooner rather than later too, as iq3 will have wifi connectivity, making it harder to get your paws on.

        • Yep, that's already been mentioned here.

    • +1 for Netflix comment!

  • Will this work with Austar as Well?

    • Nope, if youre on mystar hd you can usually swap to iqhd, however you wont get most fta through the box in some regional areas (some areas only get abc and sbs)

  • I'm lost.

I have two iQHD boxes. I request a set for each. He said one set will be free, the other $50. I'm okay with that. But then, at the end, he said he was sending me two adapters - one free, one $50. It wasn't until I got off the phone that I wondered whether he meant two PAIRS, which is what I thought I agreed to. I need the one for the modem, obviously, plus one for each box, which will leave a spare (which I can use for my desktop computer, which has no wifi card, and an unreliable wifi dongle).

I'm pretty sure they're only sold in pairs, so…

    • I'd call back. I have 2 IQHD boxes and they happily sent me 4 adapters totally free of charge. I use the 4th one in the garage to hook up a desktop PC. Works a treat.

      • PC in the garage? This your porn PC?

        • Ha ha. No, just a spare PC for when I want to escape the crowd :)

  • i'm with telstra. didn't work for me

    • What package are you on? Are you on either premium drama or movies?
It shouldnt matter that you are with telstra or foxtel direct.

      • platinum

        • :/ shouldnt matter who you go through for it, at the end of the day youre paying for the service, which includes anytime catchiup.
Also i think foxtel may have been sending out emails to customers on packages that include movies and drama that they are eligable for a free PLA if the dont currently have them. Maybe check your spam?
But yeah, give it another shot because you SHOULD be entitled to it I THINK.
          Cant hurt to try atleast.
Otherwise call up and say your on demand isnt working. Theyll run through trouble shooting until they realise there is no PLA connected ;) nice sneaky way to try.

  • Just be careful. I acted on this from the original post and the operator failed to inform me that I was on a grandfathered plan, they switched me over and charged me for the alteration. I got sent an email to confirm that I had agreed to change to a new plan (which I didnt). I immediately rang back and demanded an explanation. I asked them to compensate to which they decided to give me back credit for the difference for a year. Then after that too bad. New plan. Check which plan you are on before you commit. It was only after I made a formal complaint did I get credit… Just credit! Couldn't change back. :/

  • It seems that this offer is still available, but you may have to call more than once - the first time I called, they wanted me to pay, but when I called again a few days later, I got them for free.

By the way, the 1300 784 144 number is no longer in use, you need to call the normal 13 1999 number. I told Mike (the IVR guy) that I wanted to "change my package", then that I wanted to "speak to someone".

    Thanks, ta!
