Eneloop AA/AAA 8 Packs $11.98 + $4.95 Shipping @ Dick Smith eBay

760
CTECH20

Dick Smith shot round an email this morning with their usual $14.98 Eneloop deal. Today's kicker is that the pricing is linked to their eBay store. If you can get eBay Click & Collect (unlikely) this is an $11.98 total pickup price with the 20% discount. Otherwise $16.93 delivered, still not bad. Even cheaper still with CashRewards.

This has been mentioned with every Eneloop post… there is NO STOCK for C&C. Even though the option exists, try finding a store that has them. Please add $4.95 postage to title.

    • It did look pretty thin on the ground but there was some near my postcode in Macarthur Square. Might adjust to shipping price.

    • Thanks OP, Ordered

  • Are these made in Japan or China?
    Only joking.

    • africa actually

    • Jokes aside, the Rouge may be MIJ, for that price they ought to be, regardless you can get genuine MIJ cheaper elsewhere if it is.

  • stupid question but is there a specific charger I should be using for the AAA's?

    • +2

On the contrary, a very smart question.

La Crosse BC-700 is about the cheapest of the best chargers. I love mine, gotta go put more Eneloop Pros in actually, thanks for the reminder ;)

      • How is the Panasonic Eneloop 2hr quick charger (the one that comes with 4 AA eneloops) in comparison to the La Crosse BC-700?

        • +2

Eneloop quick charge is great for just that… charging quickly. It does have peak voltage cutoff so you shouldn't overcook them. The BC700 also has Discharghe, Test, and Refresh functions. Meaning that you can actually test how your batteries charge is holding over time, and refresh it if necessary.

          @Snoop:

          Yep, as snoop aid.

I just did my first discharge cycle on my new MIJ Eneloop Pros and they are :

          2780, 2820, 2790, 2940 mAh

So you can really e what's going on with the smart chargers. Also very impressive results :)

        • @Snoop: Thanks for the reply, I'll definately look into the La Crosse charger. Does it also do quick charging as well? Or more of an overnight job?

        • Is amazon the only cheap place to get the La Crosse BC-700?

        • @Trishool:

          3 modes:

200, 500 & 700mA (or 100/250/350 in discharge mode). I generally use the middle option. Faster = more heat, but unless you do it everytime it shouldn't hurt the cells much. I play it safe and use the middle option, something I read on candlepower forums years ago suggested the lowest option isn't always so good either (something about charge-contact and possibly not charging correctly)

Charge times, because I always to a Discharge/Recharge cycle everytime mine will take over twice as long. Maybe 2-4 hours on the 700mA option straight charge, maybe even less. I'm guessing though.

        • @Click_It:
Don't get too excited by those La Crosse capacity figures you quote higher up in the thread.

Both the BC-700 and 900 read higher than accurate for discharge capacity. 200mAh+

      • Can I pose a question to you? I have a clone of the la crosse BC-700 (branded as something else but is the same unit), and in order to change the current charge rate of a battery, I have to unplug the charger from the wall, then power it back on. Only then will it let me change the current charge rate.

It won't work if the charger has been powered on for a certain period of time, pressing the current button does nothing but keep displaying 200maH.

Is this something that happens to others?

        • +1

That's perfectly normal, it gives you a 3-4 second window to select the mode. After that you'll have to dc the unit and try again. It's a little strange, but your unit is normal :)

        • @Click_It: Cool, thanks!

    • try to find a charger that charges the batteries individually. some cheaper chargers require you to put 2 or 4 batteries in for it to charge.
something like this is good if you have large quantity of batteries.
      http://www.master-instruments.com.au/products/63232/JBC017-1…
i know Battery World stores can get these, you might be able to find them on ebay cheaper though.

      or something like this
      http://www.master-instruments.com.au/products/63328/Powerlin…
for something that charges up to 4 batteries.

      • Good point, forgot to mention that.

The La Crosse BC-700 does this too.

        • +1

As does the Eneloop quick charger!

        • @Snoop: which slot do I put it in to charge just one battery in the quick charger? Just the one on the left? And what about 3 batteries? I know with 2 you use the two outside slots.

        • @jinxsphinx:
Once you hit 3 batteries it doesn't matter. It's charge rates are for 1, 2 or 3-4!

  • Bought. Thanks!

  • Bought. Thanks OP.

  • Put the 8pk of AA and 8pk of AAA together and they charge me double with the postage. What the…?

    • Trying to order the same thing and getting double postage too.. bit rough! $5.95 total shipping on their website. But the 20% off makes ebay cheaper $33.87 vs $35.91.

  • +1

I have enough of these…. so why am i STILL tempted to get more? haha Its like an addiction or something lol

    • +1

The ETS was up this week…(Eneloop trading Exchange), never have enough! Japanese Eneloops are trading at a 50% growth rate… The ETS its a real thing! Ohh sorry one day early?

  • Disregard.

Just bought my first batch of Eneloops for $9.93 delivered using PayPal $10 off Ebay code.
C_YOURGIFT03 not sure if it will work but costs nothing to try.

    • Thanks, C_YOURGIFT03 code works.

Shame about the double postage fee.

    • Works thanks :)
Op should post this code on the title too :)

    • +1

I can add the C_YOURGIFT03 code, but not in conjunction with the 20% off code. When I try to go to PayPal it says "To use this discount, the associated email address must be linked to your PayPal account. You can add your email address to this account, try logging in to a different PayPal account, or continue your purchase without using the discount."

BTW You can set quantity to >1 and only get charged shipping once. However if you buy different batteries then you get charged shipping for each.

      • Yups I got the same error. Not working for me
$28.92 for 2 eneloops. Not too bad

      • Same here. Can't use C_YOURGIFT03 code. Guess I have to suck it up after losing out on saving $4.01. :((

  • What is the fascination with Eneloop batteries on here? Is it just because they come in different colours, or are they meant to be superior in some other way?

    • +7

      They're an OzBargain status symbol.

  • I can confirm these batteries are made in Japan. Mine which I ordered Last Sunday has arrived today. They are actually on my computer desk as I typed this.
    (ENELOOP AA Tropical 8 Pack)

  • +1

Hope they repeat the deal they had on the Eneloop Pros last weekend.

    • Probably won't anytime soon, not after being OzBargained like they were. A number of stores were complaining to management about "not being told of the special".

Cheapest I've ever seen them for (I posted the deal)

    • Sorry for the noob question, What are the eneloop Pros and how are they better than the current 8 pack deal? The pros from the last weekend were for 4pk at the same price. I was one of those lucky people who got 2 packs of the PROs but I'm sitting here regretting that since the current deal is for 8 pack. However I also understand that those were PROs, what ever that means :(

      • Pros have a higher capacity and quicker discharge aimed at devices that require it, such as camera flashes, etc. They don't have anywhere near the amount of cycles.
If you're only using in remotes, kids toys, torches, etc. stick with the standard loops!

  • Thanks OP, ordered a couple of AAA packs.

The C_YOURGIFT03 didn't work for me ("To use this discount, the associated email address must be linked to your PayPal account").

  • +1

Are AAA choc china or japan, can anyone confirm? thanks

    • +2

Definitely China, regardless of what anyone on here claims!

      • Yep, Snoop is right.

      • thanks

    • Not sure it helps but the last AA choc I got from DSE was Made in China.

  • Thanks OP,I got the email this morning and i did ignore it ,not to tempted to buy
    still done it
    Shame on me :-(

  • I just noticed that upvoting eneloop deals became a reflex for me. ozbargaining on autopilot.

    • Not for me, I want to neg the $#!t out of them when they come from DSE!

      • I feel the same… lost credibility selling misleading / confusing products, when it's so very simple to fix.

  • Ozbargain status symbol purchased…. time to hit ebay for a La Crosse BC-700 or two. One for me and one for my old man.

  • +1

Just be warned that they are showing the picture of the 70% tropical on the batteries with 65% recharge rate.
Only in the text below do they mention "Retains up to 65% of their capacity after 5 years storage once fully charged", the 70% ones do cost more.

I advised them of this several weeks ago but they continue to mislead people with the wrong picture on:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ENELOOP-AA-Tropical-8-Pack-/25177…

  • Are these any good

  • Thought I would just share my lucky experience.

Several people are having issues with this deal HERE which gives you a $10 discount. If you are having problems, I suggest calling up and get a manual credit applied directly to your PayPal account. They were happy to do this as long as I made the transaction while I was on the phone.

What this allows you to do is apply the 'CTECH20' voucher for a 20% discount on the overall price and then the $10 from your PayPal account.

    I just got 2 packs of Eneloop batteries (1xAA, 1xAAA) delivered for $23.87 ($39.86 [total price] - $5.99 [20% voucher] - $10 [manual credit]).

    • Thanks.

  • Thanks op, time for me to be trialling these. I normally use the turnigy lsd

    • Stick with what you know and like, you'll be a lot happier in the end!

  • Just received my AA eneloop tropical and they are made in China.
