  • For use at Big W only?

    • +2

Nope, I bought this exact deal and have been using it for Woolies groceries and Caltex/Woolies Petrol

    • +7

Its been covered about a million times, but for your benefit or anyone else that hasnt seen the answer to this question. It is valid at ALL Woolworths Group stores. I use this deal for fuel, groceries and grog!

      • +3

tactics is get ready for this deal buying stack of groupon giftcards at 15%. Then use then to buy this 7.5% big W giftcard deal

had a feeling 7.5% is the new low for these gift cards purchase instead the old 5%. More other companies would follow this deal soon…

        • Makes you wonder how much profit they are making :)

    • The vouchers I got are BigW only according to the staff at Woolies who tried it. Mine have 10-char hex codes instead of the 19-digit numbers they're expecting

      • They are e-gift cards. There is a special button for it.
The code should be 10 digits, not hex. You can't use the Groupon coupon.
When the PDFs are provided (not yet AFAIK), there are instructions on how to upscale the 10 digits into 19.

        • -2

I have my PDFs - there's no instructions for converting it

        • +1

          @yanman:
You have PDFs from Groupon, not an email with PDF links for the gift cards.
          Patience!

        • +1

          @yanman: How to Redeem

          4) You will not be sent a Groupon voucher via email, only use the BIG W eGift Card for redemption
          5) Use the BIG W eGift Card in-store or by following the instructions on the gift card
          • BIG W eGift Card is valid for 12 months from the issue date

        • @joannatan: 4 business days have passed.

        • +1

@yanman: i just called them today, the operator promise will sent the giftcard today. i told her i don't get it by closing business day today, i am calling my credit card company do the charge back.

If you are a member of The entertainment book, I think this is an ongoing offer.

    https://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/my-account/login?msg=ch…

    • Nope, that deal ended on 31/03/2015. It's now back to the normal 5% off.

      • Oops. My mistake.

  • I have read of people having all sorts of troubles and delays with this gift cards offers from Groupon.
Is it worth for an extra 2.5% when you can buy the giftcards with no troubles or delays with 5% discount from many other places ( ie entertainment book)?

    • +1

I've bought Woolies & Big W gift cards from Groupon a few times now, so far they've all been trouble free. Keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way!

    • How bad is it?

    • +2

Be careful of international CC fees.

    • Buying the woolies e gift card via cash rewards you get 5% discount, and the egift card takes about 3-10 hours to be emailed in my experience

buying it from groupon you get 7.5% off, but the last time i bought from groupon it took 4 business days to be delivered.

      • 2.5% in 4 days. Best interest rate ever!

  • +3

From previous experience, this deal usually ends when 15% off any deal is on

from previous experience they just cancel your order

  • Thanks OP.

  • +1

    Happy Easter present, just bought 10 x $100 and 10 X $200. Thank you.

  • Groupon blocks your account if you make a multiple purchases of high value and asks for a credit card statement to reactivate the account.
and… I still haven't received mine from the previous order.

    • Check your spam folder. Mine were there.

      • nah.. it's not there. as i said in the previous comment, groupon suspended my account until I've sent them the cc statement and that's why I haven't received the giftcards.

  • +1

"ends when 15% off any deal is on." - what does that mean?

    • +5

      You must be new here.

And your apartment smells of rich mahogany, and you have many leather bound books.

        • simple, they lose money by selling GC with that much %off

        • +3

          @kenmizuki:
To be more specific and provide an example, the last time this deal was offered its expiry date was midnight 31.03.15 with April fools on the 01.04.15. Groupon ran a 15% off promotion for April fools. Basically they removed this deal until the promotion was over and will probably do so again..

        • +1

          @Catsfan070911:

          Thanks.

        • @Catsfan070911:

so basically it is unlikely there will be a 15% off in the near future?

i want to buy bulk of these at 7.5%, but obviously dont want to if there is a 15% in near future.

you recommend getting lots of these, i do about $1000 purchase in a month

        • @tc4101:
Even if there was, it is improbable that Groupon would allow the 15% off code on this deal. Last time people tried this they cancelled orders.
However, start with PricePal and possibly get a rebate on the purchase.

    • Groupon occasionally has a 15% off deal site-wide - so there is no way they'll let you stack the 15% off with this 7.5% off offer otherwise it's either Groupon or Woolies loses money.

  • Thanks OP :)

  • Remember the 4.25% cash back!

    • +6

      But

Cashback is currently not payable on Any Woolworths Group Gift Cards purchased through Groupon

      • +1

Ugh! Would have helped if I'd read my link properly

      • Someone i know received cash back from cashrewards regardless

        • I have, on more than one occasion.

        • I have received cashback for Oct/Nov 14 Gift cards but still waiting on Jan 15 Gift cards.
They are tracked but payment still pending (as is a Dan Murphy's purchase)

  • Bought one $200. Thanks op. Hopefully it will be a good first transaction with Groupon…

  • use credit card for interest free such as the 6 month interest free ones to buy these :)

    • +1

watch out for credit card transactions with groupon: you might get stung with a foreign transaction fee by your card issuer as groupon likes to process its transactions overseas

      • thanks for advice mate, cheers :)

      • +3

Just pay via PayPal as it will be processed locally.

  • Does anyone have the new VISA Woolworths Money Qantas Card? Mine refuses to work with Groupon website when used, even when using it with Paypal. Only on this damn site.

  • can the gift card be used for multiple purchases .eg $10 then $20 then $5 untill the $100 us all used up?

or $100 must be all used in the one go?

    • For mutiple purchases.

    • Yes. It's like a prepaid debit card. The receipt and POS machine will have your closing balance after each transaction so you know what's left.

  • I noticed that once you buy the voucher, something appears in your groupon account with a qr code. Does that mean you can you it immediately or do you have to wait for them to mail you the evoucher?

    • You have to wait for another email with a link to your eGift card.

    • Login to Groupon.
Click on the down arrow your name on the top right and select "My Groupons".
You should see links there to download PDFs of your vouchers or view them online.

  • How do you use these e gift card for petrol?

    • +1

When you go inside to pay, you tell the operator you are paying with an egift card, then you enter the card number and pin number on the POS terminal yourself.

    • The e gift card can only be used at participating outlets. Woolworths Caltex (not Caltex Woolworths).
You would need to buy a physical gift card to be able to use it at Caltex Woolworths.

      • I found this out the hard way last night, second time in a row now that i've filled up, walked inside, been given whatever excuse about why they don't/can't except e-giftcards.. one was that they don't have the system set up yet, the other was more legitimate and my fault for not checking what kind of Caltex they were.. so also no discount via my Everyday rewards card o.O

  • +1

If I buy $100 at $92.5 with this deal, then use the $10 off $100 code https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/188974 to top up $100 my opal card, total savings would be $17.50. Woohoo~

  • so whats the normal cost of these gift cards if i was to walk into woolies and buy it? is there normally a discount anyway?

    • +1

No, normally you pay $100 for $100 gift card, unless you have a special rebate card from ME Bank or ING where you might get 2% or 5% rebate into your account.

      • Is there any advantage buying a full value gift card from the woolies counter with a me bank card? Its the same as doing paypass it gets you 5% anyway.

  • -4

Thanks, purchased 3x$100. Also remember to use cash rewards for additional 4.5% for Groupon.

    • Cashback is currently not payable on Any Woolworths Group Gift Cards purchased through Groupon

      http://www.cashrewards.com.au/groupon

    • Let us know when you successfully cash the amount out to your bank acccount. In most cases,Cashrewards will cancel this tracking record later.

  • Ordered $3000 worth on March 30 (2 acc). Received all this morning.

    • You receive mail on Good Friday?

      • +1

        egift card… automated emails

      • darwin awards dude… LOL.

    • only if you shared to OzBargain, we all would have them on hands by now and still have the chance to join the $1000 draw on Groupon

  • -1

Can I buy the weber q on masters ebay store using this giftcard to save another 7.5%??

    • Cant use gift cards on ebay unfortunatley

      • thanks mate :)
        It's a bummer

  • -1

Is this delivered via registered post? Insured?

    • Sent by email as it is an e gift card

  • if i buy something through woolies online and my order is say $120. can i use a two $100 cards, so the balance of the second card will be $80?

also do these cards have an expiery date or do you have to use it before a certain date after you start using the card?

    • (1) Yes you can use more than 1 e-gift card to make a purchase online

      (2) they expire 12 months from the date they are issued to you.

    • +1

As MBC77 said, yes two egift cards (or a CC and egiftcard) can be used. Just wanted to add it's very easy/logical to make split payment purchases, including at the WOW self-checkouts.

  • It seems agreed here that online purchases are ok.
But maybe rules have changed with new stock (?),
    as the Groupon website states:

    • Valid in-store only; not online (pretty clear?)
    and
    • Shop in store and save.

I'll take a punt as I guess it work online.

    • +1

The eCard doesn't work for Big W Online.

And since Groupon is technically selling a Big W eCard, I am guessing for legal reasons they must say it is not valid online.

It shouldn't affect Woolworths online orders

      • Thanks dep, explains it nicely.

  • +2

Picking up a $200 one of these up for use for Opal money. Save $15, that's half a week free transport for me :)

  • Thanks OP! How long does it take to get the email with eGiftCard? I bought on 2/4 night and still haven't received them.

    • I'm wondering too. Bought $1k and Groupon don't seem to mention it.
My motto of pay with Paypal, removes 80% of stress. So not too worried.
I guess it will be within a few working days.
Oh yes, these woolies egift emails are blocked as Spam by my server india.com, so check that possibility out.

      • +2

5 days still no contact from woolies about egift cards. Very Groupon of them.

        • +2

          me either :(

    • I bought them at the same time.. I have emailed them and they just ask me to wait another 4 days, then another 2 days.
      Emailing them again now.
