  • how long does the email take to come from woolies? do they send an actual physical card? or is it an e-card?

    at present i only got email from groupon. it says

    Groupon code: xxxxxxxxxx
    Security code: xxxxxxxxxx

    i suppose there not the codes i use for the gift card?

    • Woolworths will send you an email which contains the eGift card, the one you got from Groupon is just a confirmation of purchase.
      It may take several business days to receive the eGift card from Woolworths.

  • Could anyone please confirm that you can use this card to buy something like Wish gift card (to use @ DickSmith)? If so, do you do it online or in store?

          Last time I did it, I was buying groceries as well and the gift card was just another item. There was no problem with that for me.

          I just have it saved on my phone at use them at Caltex… it's pretty easy but not as convenient as a card.

    • normally you can't buy giftcard using another giftcard, but sometimes you get away with it ;)

        Hi yanman, are you sure that's the actual gift card? I can see only Groupon voucher there but not the actual gift card. In the Groupon voucher it says that the giftcard will be sent from @everydaygiftcards email address.

        • There's a PDF in there for each one I bought. It has a cut-out section at the top of each one called "Woolworths Online $200 BIG eGift Card" with a barcode so I reckon that's it.

      They are ridiculously slow.
      I know Internet speeds in Oz are slow… Even slower than the dhead Abbot's.
      But several days to produce an automated email with 12+4 digits in it!

  • I guess these cards involve printing a bar code? My printer is not too good at that- they usually have to reprint them for me at airports etc.

    Must get a better printer one of these days.

      If it is the same as the Woolworths eGiftCard I got from cashrewards, then we'll get two number and a pin. One number for shopping online and another one to be punched in to the EFTPOST terminal at the shop.

        It's not the same - it's a BigW eGift card not Woolworths which is the problem. The OP is actually false - these eGifts cannot be used at Woolworths at all. The only way apparently is to take them to BigW and purchase regular giftcards in-store with these eGift cards.

    Why does Groupon state that the card is "valid in store only: not online" but Woolworths say it is valid online?

  • Bought 1 $200 ecard. Going by above comments, not sure when will I receive actually woolworths card number and pin.

    Say I do that and buy $786 of groupon vouchers that will give me roughly $925 of groupon credit and then when a deal like this comes around again, I can use my $925 of credit to buy $1000 worth of woollies gift cards. Is this correct?

    • I got a response from Groupon telling me to wait another four business days before contacting them again.

  • Just thought I'd try and see if the PDF worked at my local Woolworths Caltex and it didn't work. I bought mine on the 2/4 as well and it hasn't arrived yet.

  • Went to woolies and they couldn't do it :/ They claimed it was a BigW only gift card!

    They said cos it wasn't just a number code it wasn't correct. The ones I have are 10 char HEX codes whereas the terms say it should be a 19-digit number :( grrr

      • Just the PDF but it said it was an egift card!! Same story at BigW - they need the number and pin which I still don't have! Useless pricks - this is a waste of time

        • The egiftcard PDFs are sent from domain everydaygiftcards.com.au to your email address later on(I think they have not arrived yet),not the PDF vouchers in your Groupon account.At this stage,you need to wait a few days more.

          I'm sure there are many consumers who FORGETS about the voucher they bought.
          This is looking like a money making scam for groupon/woolies.

  • I purchased mine the day before good friday. It takes 4 business days to be sent it, so technically Good Friday and Easter Monday dont count, should have received it Yesterday (friday) if I dont have it in my inbox on Monday, I will be making some noise to groupon

  • Sometimes they're fast sometimes slow. Ordered 3k late March and got it in 4 days. Ordered another 2k on the 6th but still haven't got it. Patience is a virtue, my friends.

    I notice my credit card says Zurich. Anyone get charge international fees?

    These guys are hopeless, told me to wait another 24-48 hours! My operator told me to hold on while he tries to contact the Merchant (BigW) but I was on hold for like less than 5sec and said he already had contacted them, I was what…is he joking or he really contacted BigW?! Anyway, another 48 hours and if it doesn't arrive, that's it, no more Groupjokes for me ever.

    Those who've done it before - is the process for refund easy with groupon? I've had it with these fckers. It's an eGift card.. either they have it or they don't.

      the operator told me yesterday that no refund on this product, then i told her, you can't deliver your product so customer entitle for refund. then i told her by closing business day yesterday, if i don't get my gift card then i will call my cc for charge back.

      at 5.30 pm i got another email from groupon ask me to wait for another 2 working days, so i called my cc, they asked me to sent my correspondent email with groupon and this afternoon got email from my cc, they have credit back to my cc. groupon will get charge of fee of this charge back. poor u groupon

    I got this back from everydaygiftcards.com.au. This is in regards to my 2nd April order:

    "After investigations with Group On we have been informed they had a back log of orders that had not been processed through to us. Their escalations team have assure us that it is now up to date as of today and members should receive their orders by this afternoon. If you do not receive your gift card by the end of today could you please let me know so we can follow this up with Group On".

    i have decided to neg this post.
    after all these trouble, i have deduced that this is no bargain at all.
    5% discount on woolies gift cards are readily available anyway.
    for this extra 2.5%, the potential for the consumer to forget (due to the much longer extra waiting period) is way too high. groupon/woolies knows this, and wants to cash in on greedy but time-poor ozbargainers.

      Just as I said on my post a couple of weeks ago…
      "I have read of people having all sorts of troubles and delays with this gift cards offers from Groupon.
      Is it worth for an extra 2.5% when you can buy the giftcards with no troubles or delays with 5% discount from many other places ( ie entertainment book)?"

    Already opened a dispute through PayPal. Giving them until Thursday to sort things out. After that I will escalate to claim and get my refund :)

    Could we ask to ban Groupon on OZBargain site?

    My recently purchase experience, I bought three items, all asked to refund from Paypal.

    Groupon can not be trusted.

  • Was quite tempted to order but glad I held off. It has been reasonable purchase in the past, just not a single member this time confirming eCard. Meanwhile a Cashrewards Woolworths cashback has not recorded, weeks ago, probably separate, still more mess.

    I just sent a message through the Groupon Care site to ask where my gift card was (purchased on 5th April), checked my email to see the confirmation email of the request I had sent through to them, and low and behold my eGift card has arrived!

    So I'd say the info provided earlier by sj2can is on the money…

    I opened a PayPal dispute at lunch time today (Tuesday). I just received my $500 worth of gift cards.
    First and last time I will use Groupon.
