932

Hey OzBargain!

We're doing an Easter Surprise over at VPN.sh where you simply open up our Easter Surprise Link and get your free VPN account! Depending on how lucky you are, you could get any of the following three Easter Surprises:

  • 1 month free - 25GB/month usage (can be renewed at £1/month once expired)
  • 6 months free - 100GB/semi-annual usage (can be renewed at £2/semi-annually once expired)
  • 12 months free - 1000GB/annual usage (can be renewed at £3/annually once expired)

If you're not lucky enough to get the 12 months free, you can also upgrade your Easter Surprise to the 12 months (1000GB/annual) option by following our upgrade link for £4.

We hope you have a great Easter Monday and enjoy your free VPN!

Cheers,
VPN.sh Team

NOTE: If you have issues getting access to our Easter Surprise (stating that you've already claimed your prize), open a support ticket and we'll get this sorted out for you.

REP EDIT: I'm in the UK (2am here as I write this) and about to hop into bed. Any orders that haven't been activated already will be activated when I wake (sometime in the evening in Australia). Good luck and Happy Easter!

Why exactly do we need to give our names, addresses, postcodes and phone numbers? Especially for a free offer that doesn't require verification of payment details?

Seems to be at odds with the whole VPN idea, ie for people who value their privacy.

  • Got 12 months, but received a page with the following message (no other message on the page) after submitting the form:

    Unexpected payment method value. Exiting.

    • Please open a support ticket and we'll get you sorted.

      • I just submitted a support ticket (with screenshots attached to the ticket) and I received the following message (no other message on the page):

Could not save uploaded file. Please check permissions.

Must be my lucky day.. got 12months.. needed a simple backup vpn.. will test it out.. thanks!

  • Rep, It keeps saying you've already claimed your prize. I am living in a share house. how to claim it?

    • same here. where can i check my claimed prize to reclaim it?

    • Please both open a support ticket and we'll get this resolved for you.

  • Never works properly and when it comes to download, it dies. So I have to disconnect, finish my download and then connect if I can !
    And thats the pain!
Beside customer service, only a bit better than Vaya! At least you can take vaya to ACCC! :)

  • Hmm….It says I have claimed my prize??

  • My new account has been put on hold because of suspicion of fraud :-(

    Anyway to get this fixed?

    Good deal, thanks OP :)

Thank you rep. 6 months. Looking forward to using the service, just got Netflix and this will allow me the US content.

  • Using a VPN allows you to relocate your IP address, changing it from your home IP, to one of our IP's, located in 18 locations worldwide. This hides your true identity to keep you safe.

can we choose which countries and which countries you support?

I'm assuming even though PayPal is ticked you can't actually draw any money from it unless I approve it??? Just always a bit weary when I get these "free trial" things yet you ask for payment method.

    • +1

Hi there, yes that's correct. We can't actually take any money unless you choose to renew the service when the free period is up.

When your free period is up, you'll receive an email invoice notification to continue at the highly discounted rates mentioned in the OP. From the invoice link in that email, you can pay by logging into PayPal.

If you choose not to renew then it's impossible for us to charge you (we won't have your PayPal email etc.).

      Hope that clarifies!

I got 12 months, sound lucky, thank.

  • Can anyone let me know if the service is still terrible? I paid for an account late last year and it was only slightly better than useless.

    • I use both PIA and VPN.sh and apart from the occasional bad customer service I prefer VPN.sh over PIA :) There has only been one instance where I wasn't able to use VPN.sh in the last 6 months, luckily it was fixed within 12 hours of submitting a ticket :) If I didn't submit a ticket It would have automatically been fixed for me within 24 hours :)

      • Thanks for the honest feedback :).

The above is correct, in the past several months, we've only had one significant amount of downtime (related to our authentication system). This meant that clients were unable to login to the service for a short while, however we got this resolved in under 24 hours and have made the necessary preparations to prevent future occurrences of similar issues.

    • As mentioned by triviums, the service has been running smooth for some time. Ensure you're using our latest OpenVPN files/IP's (check the downloads section of our client area for these) and all should work without issue.

  • Far out. Am I the only person unlucky enough to score a whopping 1 month prize?

    Sad Panda.

  • How long do I need to wait for this to activate?

  • I was trying to research your company online, but couldn't really find the answers I was looking for. So I hope you are able to take the time to answer these questions I've lifted from Torrent Freak's VPN service review 2015:

    1. Do you keep ANY logs which would allow you to match an IP-address and a time stamp to a user of your service? If so, exactly what information do you hold and for how long?

    2. Under what jurisdiction(s) does your company operate?

    3. What tools are used to monitor and mitigate abuse of your service?

    4. Do you use any external email providers (e.g. Google Apps) or support tools ( e.g Live support, Zendesk) that hold information provided by users?

    5. In the event you receive a DMCA takedown notice or European equivalent, how are these handled?

    6. What steps are taken when a valid court order requires your company to identify an active user of your service? Has this ever happened?

    7. Does your company have a warrant canary or a similar solution to alert customers to gag orders?

    8. Is BitTorrent and other file-sharing traffic allowed on all servers? If not, why?

    9. Which payment systems do you use and how are these linked to individual user accounts?

    10. What is the most secure VPN connection and encryption algorithm you would recommend to your users? Do you provide tools such as “kill switches” if a connection drops and DNS leak protection?

    11. Do you use your own DNS servers? (if not, which servers do you use?)

    12. Do you have physical control over your VPN servers and network or are they outsourced and hosted by a third party (if so, which ones)? Where are your servers located?

  • All eggs gone.
