  • This has to be a typo. No way can it be 240GB. Maybe 120?

    • I agree, won't be surprised if purchases end up being refunded. Awesome price however.

    • +2

Could be legit. SSD prices have dropped massively due to Intel's PCIe SSD announcement.

  • holy shit

  • +3

    I wouldn't go near the v300 series

    Read the online reviews

    They use asynchronous NAND flash.

Be wise and invest a few more dollars and get a Samsung or crucial

I bought 3 V300 from Amazon last year and sold them on eBay right away due to poor performance compared to other brands

  • Any coupons ?

  • +1

No stock so buy it now and don't know they will have it in 2-3 weeks?

    • +3

I sometimes buy from these guys. Kind of hit and miss.

I ordered a Sandisk 64gb from them a few months ago. 2 days later I received an auto generated email saying it was on BackOrder and the expected delivery date was 31/12/9999.

They included in the email "If the Estimate Time of Arrival date is 31/12/9999, it is likely that the product has being discontinued."

I just left it for a couple of weeks to see if they'd attempt to make contact and they didn't. I then asked them to cancel the order and 2 days later they replied and processed the refund.

Their communication is pretty terrible, as is their website and I wouldn't be surprised at all if "2-3 weeks" means never.

Jeez, you couldn't even wait a mere 8000 years? Youth these days.

    • +1

$87 on ebay, so it's not much different in case of deliver

  • Postage kills it.

    • Agreed. Adds 20% to the price. :(

      • Yet it's still 20% cheaper than competitors.

        • -2

40% cheaper would of been better.

        • But also significantly slower, see reviews linked above.

  • Probably a mistake. You'll note there are two links for the 240GB drive;

one has 240GB on the pic - http://www.i-tech.com.au/products/143191_KINGSTON_240GB_SSDN…

the other has 480GB on the pic - http://www.i-tech.com.au/products/159941_KINGSTON_240GB_SSDN…

Looks like a cut and paste mistake to me!

    From their checkout page:

While we make every effort to keep this site current and error free, we cannot honour errors such as outdated or incorrect prices. We will contact you if a price has changed significantly from our published price when you place your order - please note that an order is an offer to purchase, and does not constitute a contract until it is fulfilled - E & OE. Please note that, due to the nature of the computer industry, prices on many components are always falling over time, and we can't credit or refund the difference for any price drop after we have sent out your order.

  • nice one. although the performance is not as good as the 850, but the price is amazing.

  • id say this is a possible bargain.

since there's no stock its kinda pointless?

have used V300 in the past, the only SSD i've ever had to send back under warranty for bad sectors out of all errors (i thought the SSD auto relocates bad sectors).

i would still buy this since i can pick up.

    thanks

    • bad sectors? SSD auto relocates?

      • -2

congratulations, you can move up one level in reading and comprehension

  • ordered. my first SSD, ever! will go into my core duo acer laptop.

somehow i got 520 reward points, so only pay $63 incl paypal fees.
    let see

    • +1

if your core 2 duo machine is 2008 era system that has a 150MB/s SATA transfer rate, then this drive would give you improvements, but if one is using a 600mb/s SATA 3 drive, this thing is hopeless as test show it barely managed less than half the 450mb/s rate on paper rate and sometimes barely 170mb/s (which is constant and faster than the best 5400RM drives can offer)

Keep in mind that 5400 rm hard drives are very poor in speed once used for a few years, hence if the price is honored then, it is OKay… else get a proper drive that is around 100!

      • How to check that sata transfer rate ?

        • +3

Don't worry. Just use it. You'll notice a difference whether it be Sata 2 or 3.

        • Even the slowest crappiest SSD will be faster than a HDD.

It's just the crappiest SSDs have a higher failure rate than a HDD and give less warning before (total) failure. Just make sure you back-up your important documents and photos to the cloud or external HDD and you'll be fine.

  • It seems that computer savy people often say this is actually a crap…
at least it is not much faster than ordinary hdd…

    • +1

      Lol this guy

      • +1

        really? damn should i cancel?

        • +1

          Kingston V300 240GB — 191MB/s Read and 142MB/s Write

You'll rarely even hit 100MB/s unless you do a lot installing or copy/pasting between internal drives. The biggest benefit in having an SSD is the low latency which speeds up boot and load times and makes the overall experience snappier.

Performance difference between the current top and bottom SSDs are mostly negligible for general usage.

It's a great price as you'd be paying almost double for a regular budget SSD. (OCZ Arc100 240GB $128 @ MSY)

    • +1

10x faster than old HDD (not much different for new HDD)
but 0.5 slower than other SDDs.

    • +1

I seriously doubt any ordinary HDD can be as fast as this, not with 7200rpm and certainly not 5400rpm.

  • pickup is Sydney only :-(

  • worked rather close but i am not banking on it being right, cause it looks more like a typo

if they honor this, then this drive is sort of worth it as a secondary SSD or put in likes of first gen SATA systems (pre 2009) that has 150MB/s transfer rate, else it is a meh.

  • Sounds like a good deal for the average user.
    Interesting read;
    http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/1360-kingston-v300-asynchr…

  • Put it in the games console, some use std sata (not xbox360), quicker boot time than DVD or the drives they supply with consoles. Use it for the torrent machine so you don't kill the drive via head parking on slow downloads, lots of good apps.

  • +1

I have this exact same drive (SV300S37A) in an HP DV6 laptop and can confirm the performance is definitely subpar for SSD.

  • -1

why can I go to pick it up after order? is there another confirmation letter?

    • +1

Why can you? Because you can't.

You can NOT go to pick it up after order… because there is NO STOCK

      Sheesh!

      • -1

        sorry, I meant when

        • +1

The title states stock available in 2-3 weeks, so my guess is 2-3 weeks.

  • +1

Best view in 1024 x 768 screen resolution

    lol

  • 2% surcharge using card/paypal…

    meh pricing error anyway

  • +2

i-Tech need to update the specifications on their web site as Kingston is no longer claiming the stated specifications.

The poster should at least change them here.

    Kingston Web site:
    Incompressible Data Transfer
    (AS-SSD and CrystalDiskMark) 2
    60GB — 150MB/s Read and 50MB/s Write
    120GB — 180MB/s Read and 133MB/s Write
    240GB — 191MB/s Read and 142MB/s Write
    480GB — 450MB/s Read and 208MB/s Write

http://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/v#sv300s3 (you then have to click on "specifications")

As you can see these are a long way from those stated above.

  • -1

not a very cheap buy. also the heading states that 240 GB is for 67$ which is false..is this a sales gimmick?

    • why false?

edit: you are late, it was $67 before now $125 thus expired mark applied

      • 67$ is for 60 GB; not 240 GB. or do i need to get my eyes tested again bro :)

        • not sure but yesterday 240gb as per link above posted by OP, has price of $67
          today is different day….

  • hmmm…i missed it definitely :(

    • dont worry no one get the unit as yet, so we dont know.

  • +1

I just called to check order and was told all good any maybe delivered late next week.

  • -1

I ordered and paid for six 240GBs pick up. No email for pickup confirmation yet.

    • doh! because available in 2-3 weeks.. please read

  • got email saying sorry delay, order status: backorder 18/4/2015. no worries i can wait

  • Just got an email saying that they have now been notified by supplier that pricing was an error and all orders are cancelled. :( bugger

  • -3

We're sorry to advise that the price of this item is incorrect. Our vendor have only just advised us hence the delay. Your order will now be cancelled and refund in full. As a small token of appreciation we have added $10 store credit into your account for the mistake and inconvenience. We're sincerely sorry for the mistake and inconvenience.

    • Waited 8 days before you come up with a BS excuse!
And blame others for your mistake!
Good business would honour it, hence the loss of many customers now and in future.

  • +1

Same email. Garbage. i-Tech…off the list! $10…keep it.

  • Before payment i made a call to confirm and was told yes price is correct so i paid. Really need to honor the price that was stated on the site and also via phone. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

    • I did the same. I rang up sales and they confirmed that the price is correct after the purchase.

  • Has anyone got their credit card refunded yet? Pretty lame IMHO.

    • I emailed them and only now did they process my refund. My guess is they are hoping some people won't remember to contact them.
