If you are going in, they might have some other bargains worth picking up while you are in the store. I've suggested a few here.

Also there's a link to the catalog from "Petestrash", so that might be good to look at for future weeks too … though the current catalog says November - December so it might not be replaced, before January.

      I'm going to stop by their Richmond store on the way to work. I'll be there just after 9AM when they open. I'm going to be mighty dissappointed if I don't get to pick up 2!

      Edit: According to the MLN site. Train?: We are within a 5 minute walk from the Richmond Train Station.

      Richmond train station is near the corner of Punt & Swan. MLN is on Bridge just after Coppin. I just mapped the walk on MapMyRun and its close to a 2KM walk. That's one hell of a fast 5 minute walk :). I hope their stock levels are not as bad as their time estimates!

      HD Tach test shows the read speed is 23.5 MB/s (megabytes). Write speed (tested using a 3 GB file) is around 5.7 MB/s. To stream AVIs, 23.5 MB/s (that's 188 Mbits/sec) should be more than enough (it's already over 100 Mbits). Do you have gigabit switches with RAID 5 or RAID 0 setup and want to stream a 1080p HD movie or something with a huge bitrate?

      To test the speed properly, make sure you fill the disk with data.

    West Melb. store (opposite Vic. Market) have a few boxes. They only put one box on the counter. The staff gave me the impression they have quite a few boxes in stock.

    And.. there was no queue when I was there.

    When I asked the Richmond store, they said they had thousands in the warehouse. No idea what that means for their stock level. Anyway, MLN Richmond open time 9AM. I rock up 9:20 and guess what.. The shop was still closed! At least it wasn't an Aldi's with queues!

    EDIT: Not too bad for a $2 key. I'm getting nearly 5.5MB/s writing to it.

    Called Richmond and West Melbourne. Confirmed Richmond would get it next Tuesday, West Melbourne tomorrow - although not sure what time. The guy suggested that I call before I go there. Calls were made at 12.15 pm on 26 Nov. I hope it helps.

    I just went to Heidelberg. No restock at this stage. The guy said tomorrow, ie Friday, 12pm, maybe

    I did pick up a couple packs of blank DVDs for $3 for 10 :)
    Still a bit disappointed on missing out on the 4GB USB drives :P oh well :)

    Note: Heidelberg traffic today is horrendous. I'm not sure why. I do know it's the specials day at the Aldi which is right in the shopping centre there …

      Same with Richmond, but I'd say it's more pink than purple. It's actually a different model to the original deal too. It's now a Kingston DataTraveler 4gb. They got them in about half an hour ago along with some more of the mp3 players which I got some of to give out as xmas pressies. Most of the mp3s were pink too. Oh so girly :)

    Strange, I picked 2 of the pink ones from West Melbourne early today. When I passed by late yesterday they were all out. Apparently they came in at 5:30pm yesterday and sold out by 2pm today my unlucky housemate says :-). More stock "coming in next week Thurday-ish"
