"12 month Australia-wide warranty" - is this grey import stock?

    • is this grey import stock?

I don't think so. Very difficult to tell, but I think they will be private imports of Hong Kong stock.

      • Yatango's stuff are grey imports, ((Yatango Shopping (Formerly MobiCity))

        :)

        • Yatango's stuff are grey imports, ((Yatango Shopping (Formerly MobiCity))

Well, that is obviously NOT CORRECT.

They are delivering these phones directly to the buyers. The buyers are therefore the importers. Therefore the phones are deamed to be Private Imports - not Grey Imports.

If this business imported the phones, and then sold and delivered them, the phones would be grey imports. However, the business would have to pay income/business taxes in Australia and also collect GST and remit it to the Tax Department.

        • @A3Australia: u go for it if your happy with that… however i wouldn't expect samsung to uphold the warranty .. you will have to go back to yatango :)

          What ARE you talking about?

SAMSUNG Australia will not offer any warranty for these phones. They are private imports.

For warranty support where genuine parts will be used, and any remaining warranty would not be voided, the phone would have to be returned to SAMSUNG in Hong Kong.

Buyers can try and get warranty support from this non existing "Yatango" in Australia, but there is no way to enforce this - as the phones were purchased from Yatango Hong Kong.

        • @A3Australia: which is what makes them a grey import… i just said that… wtf??????

They are deamed to be Private Imports. The buyers are importing them from a seller in Hong Kong. I guess that after they arrive here they could be called grey imports.

      Thanks.

        • Hongkong. They are grey importer

Ahhh no. Obviously not in your case.

You said that you imported the phone from a Hong Kong based seller.

Therefore you are the importer. You imported a phone from Hong Kong. No protection under Australian Consumer Protection Legislation. No two year consumer guarantee.

        • @A3Australia: So , do you mean there is no protection and warranty to buy them directly ? If it's true, that's really need to avoid to buy from them.

        • @tztong:
they will offer warranty. same like DWI Kogan etc.
but probably not Australian customer guarantee when you buy local stock.
please dont avoid grey products, half of the deals here are greys and they are good!

There is no Consumer Protection. There is no way to enforce the warranty offered by the yatango.com.au website.

You mean Kogan HK Limited right?

but probably not Australian customer guarantee when you buy local stock.

Thank makes no sense. I think you meant that there is no two year Consumer Guarantee and no Consumer Protection when one imports a phone from an overseas business.

There is, of course, both a two year Consumer Guarantee and Consumer Protection when one buys a phone locally. Even when that phone is a grey import, and may even have been illegally imported.

Buying a phone from an overseas supplier can be worth the risk, if the saving is high enough, AND if the buyer understands and is willing to take the risks.

Just be aware the 920F model which is being sold doesn't have all of the necessary bands for 4G in Australia. Specifically, it doesn't support 700mhz and 2300mhz.

    920I is the Australian model

Edit: oh and the blue is expensive because it's new and rarer than black and white and even the gold

Just thought I'd add here, yatango sells the G920i version too for $769.95 to members.
