Expedia gives the price of $171/night for the Superior Twin Room, 2 Single Beds. Only the Luxury room has a king bed.

The Superior room can accommodate 3 guests (up to 1 child). If you want breakfast included, it's $200/night. The comparison price is $310/night, which is the highest possible price on Expedia for the next 14 days. So that would be a max price of US$2100.

Thus, I think $6689 is a complete fabrication.

While I agree this is probably a fabrication of price you have not accounted for all the inclusions and the fact its luxury rooms in both hotels.

This is a luxury package you are not staying in the cheaper rooms. Your food is included along with 4 massages.

But I still can't see how that high of a figure has come about it is still a great deal for people looking for luxury.

      • Do you know what would be some good value tours/attractions to do near these places?

        • +1

er…. Angkor Wat. temples, temples and more temples. Siem Reap is awesome!

      • It's not a 'luxury package' really. Superior rooms aren't much more 'superior' than a standard room. If it was a junior suite or better then you'd probably be talking luxury. Breakfast is standard in most hotels in Asia - in every single hotel I've stayed at it's been included from 2-5 star places.

At the $171 price quoted (which is per room not per person as hotels tend to charge)is about $1200. The $200 difference for 4 massages isn't too bad but it's not a massive saving and this is cambodia. You can get massages for $10 an hour 10 metres from the hotel.

      • Not trying to argue, but… That's a five star resort. There are no cheaper rooms at the resort, so you are staying in them.

A luxury package put together by somebody is great. But if you want to get a five star hotel in Siam Reap you can get $67/night double occupancy. So in my opinion there's a much greater deal available to stay in Cambodia. http://www.expedia.com.au/Siem-Reap-Hotels-Palace-Residence-… You can see that the Expedit reviews are quite good compared with the Sofitel (maybe biased a bit by the cheaper price, but many saying how it's like a 5 star hotel).

If you were keen on the LivingSocial package, you might consider doing some shopping around and you might be able to get it a bit cheaper via Expedit or the like. The best thing I can say about the package is that it's virtually as cheap as you can get if you put a lot of effort into it, and it doesn't require effort. It is a pretty good price.

  • Angkor Wat temple is near siem reap

$6689? What a load of rubbish, can stay there for three months for that much, wonder where they pull that figure from

    • Again you haven't read the full thing. You've just looked at the number. If you want a budget holiday that's fine but if you want an almost all inclusive (flights separate) luxury holiday this is a pretty damn good price.

The $6689 figure is hard to pin down as to where they got it from though.

I read the full thing, if you realise the economy of Cambodia even this price is still high. Ive stayed in SR and PP lots of times, airport transfers are about $10 each way, buffet breakfast about $15, massages are $10 etc, most things are very cheap. There is a hotel in SR centre that is gorgeous for $12 a night, but these packages are good for those who want to dip their feet into Cambodia for the first time, my comment above was about the $6689 price which is utter rubbish

This deal should be about $700-800 IMO

        • Not for sofitel, but the price is pretty much market price without needing to lock yourself into any 'deal'.

We can stay 7 nights at a 5 star hotel in Sydney with 4 massages for $6689!

  • Clearly the $6689 is based on the rack rate, not the online sale prices.

    • Meanwhile in a Cambodian orphanage…..

      • I agree it's a ridiculous price for 7 night anywhere, just noting how it's so high yet online you can find the same hotel for much cheaper. So it must be based on the never paid rack rate.
