  • Dupe of existing thread .. But probably worthwhile posting separately https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/193307#comment-2756990

    • Yeah old post, and price change + you get 2 bonuses now :)

      • You've gotten the two bonuses all along.

        • I Don't think it was, if you read post it was edited on 18th adding you now get the bundle :)

  • Thanks, decent review so ordered 1 ..

  • Posted from other post: Any comments about the speaker and the volume that you get out of the tablet. Read in a few places that the volume is very low..

    • Probably a blessing that it only allows a low volume all things considered ;)

      Seriously all tiny speakers like this are terrible. The devices that are noted for having best in class sound quality or whatever you want to call it eg HTC M7/M8 series are barely "good" (although they're achievements in themselves for being such small speakers).

    I am using one of these for work. The only downsides are it's a little slow and laggy at times (that 1ghz cpu), and the screen is really quite dull and lifeless. Can't comment on the speakers, as I never use this for any media.

    It's also quite heavy.

  • I want to use it mostly as display screen in the car for back seat passengers. Hence the volume is critical.

    • Wait for DSE to make an offer on the Sony SRS-X3 bluetooth speakers

    • Won't you like want to put the sound through the car system or have people using wired or wireless headphones though? It doesn't seem like a good solution to use built in speakers like that unless you're fine with bad sound quality.

  • For me its showing $169 after discount code.

    I bought 2tablets from last deal for $148.

    My experience so far..

    Volume keys,power keys makes annoying click sound,

    whole screen makes plastic sound all the time through out the use when you hold.

    It is laggy most of the times,can't play a basic angry bird smoothly so far.

    When you uninstall any application, the application gets delete but the icon stays there until and unless you restart (please note there is no restart option,you have to power off and on)

    Same with pics,when you delete pics (Bulk which I transfered from my camera) the pics gets deleted but files remains there showing blank black screen shots in gallery.

    After orientation screen is black or stuck(may be confused what's going on)

    There is no exact fitted tablet case for this model in Australia ,normal slip in case are there like in this deal,.
    though available from China for $18+

    And the speakers are along the screen,when you wipe the screen the dirt or may be water or spills going to end up in speakers.

    Power ,volume,DC,HDMI,micro SD slot these all are not marked with neither names nor mark. (Question from my toddler was which way the volume goes up?)

    Seriously guys,don't go for this even for kids,no point right when the tablet hangs,kids aren't with Patience.

    And horrible experience with Chromecast too.,screen stocks on casting.

    Like said above,screen is dull.

    I hope HP refund me back.

    Good luck.

    • Heh - wow, if it struggles with original Angry Birds like that I would seriously consider something else, I'm not in the market for something like this but there seems to be a lot of cheap and cheer tabs that must be better than this surely.

      For comparisons sake mid-range phones in 2011 (from memory) could play that game pretty much perfectly.

    • Just got mine today, and agree with some points.

      Negatives:
      * case creaks a lot in normal handling.
      * web browsing is very laggy, especially ad heavy sites.
      * even swiping on the keyboard lags a lot.
      * heavy
      * no 5g Wi-Fi
      * terrible battery life

      On the other hand:
      * I quite like the screen. Even on lowest brightness, it is easy to read small text.
      * Sound is not too bad. Could be difficult to hear in most environment, but in quiet room, is plenty loud.

    Tried to order one… HP site first wouldn't let me add them to cart, then proceeded to reject all credit cards after that was worked around. Tried to call them to order, sat on hold over an hour first time. Sat on hold >30mins second time, finally got someone for whom English was a foreign tongue, yet who was still keen to try to place the order, but who knew nothing of how to apply the discount code.

    Decided that if it was this hard to just buy one, imagine how much fun it would be to get it repaired when it broke later on (it's a HP, it's gonna break).

    • I had a similar experience. My credit cards were all rejected trying to purchase online. I checked with the banks and they were all fine. When I rang up HP I was transferred four times.

  • I would recommend to not buy. The screen is very ordinary even though they call it hd. It also doesn't feel like 2gb ram. Just disappointing result even though specs are amazing.

    mheee.. I still have my $99 HP TouchPad tablet from 2011.
    It has great speakers and dual band Wi-Fi.
    Looks like HP has gone down hill quality wise.

    • And it runs Android like a champ as well.

    While the specs may seems great, this is a very poor tablet. I purchased one a couple months ago and while the screen is very dull, the real problem is the tablet complete froze twice within 24 hours. Basically the entire OS crashes and everything is unresponsive. Only way to fix is to reboot. Stay away

    I returned this as it was too heavy and was slow. In the end pay more got a paper thin higher resolution Galaxy Tab S more expensive but you do get the goods.

  • I bought this one on the last post. Things that I'm disappointed is that the quite dull screen, pretty poor battery life. It runs well for me up to now. No freeze, just a little bit laggy. For 150 AUD plus the case (priced at $30 from TheGoodguys), I think this one should do good job on web browsing, youtube and movies (if you are not too hard on the display)

  • That processor Allwinner, commonly found in cheap Chinese tablets, doesn't seem to be all that winning in this tablet with FHD screen.

  • Has anyone purchased this and doesn't want it. I would happily buy it at the original price
