Is this the retina or the older one
The product specs on good guys says retina screen but says processor is an A5 dinosaur from original iPad mini ,how hard is it for for them to get the specs right ..

    • MD531X/A is the first gen iPad mini.

    • Haha yes, these companies should get there specs right at least….the model is 2 years old so they should have done so by now youd think…this 'dinosaur' is perfectly fine for and emailing and web browsing …wont be editing UHD movies or conducting remote rocket surgey with it!

Will you be using the screen, because the screen is really terrible.

        • hopefully ios 9 will run on it okay if at all… might be worth the extra $40 for gen 2 just for longevity

    • +5

It is very often this price. Also the hardware is ancient. Has the same internals as the iPad 2 that came out in 2011.

Probably not worth it for the first gen.. I'd pay $100 more and go the Optus deal with the 32GB 2nd Gen and Cellular et all…

    • Personally, i weighed this up and thought id save $100 in getting this 2 year old 'dinosaur' - its only for home use so storage and mobility is moot

      • +2

More like a 4 year dinosaur since it has the same specs as the ipad 2.

        • Yeah makes no sense whatsoever to buy this at this price when the newer vastly superior model is around same price.

Its been that price plenty of times no bargain here.its even been cheaper

      Check & mate.

    • Plus delivery … So thats a $40 odd difference… Cheapest price today + functional for basic needs was what i was looking for. thought id put it up in case someone else was in the same boat - sorry if i offended anyones bargain sensibilities

      • I don't think you need to apologise. You've probably posted the cheapest iPad mini available. People can make up there own mind if they want the gen 2 for extra $40. No harm done, all healthy debate. :)

      • It's not personal mate. Thanks for for sharing. If you're happy with your purchase that's great. We're just helping others who might not know this is dated technology. The way stores sell this is very sneaky.

The screen on the mini is crap by today's standards. Mini 2 should be a minimum.

  • Compnow have some iPads on specials…

    Hope this helps.

  • I went to office work and ended up getting it for $255. The guy did the beat the price with 5% of the price and I have a iPhone 6 and with this iPad there isn't really any speed lag and screen quality is really decent . Not a bad deal for the price

If you can't see the pixels on this screen you need new glasses. 163 ppi is pretty bad.

    • Everything brand new will be fast and smooth, not until a few weeks later when you decide to update it to the latest firmware and add a few more apps to it. Try browsing Gumtree website for an hour and you'll see.

Well i have already felt the thing quite outdated and got my money back from office works lol
