      Mine was Feb 2017

      Mine is Feb 2017 too.

  • Has anybody else noticed that these are $15 SIMs now, with $30 included value for calls and texts?

Just found out I got charged $30 for the old $30 SIM, so have submitted a complaint/inquiry.

      • So there are different pages for the "$15" SIM and the "$30" SIM now. I think there was a crossover period where the Cashrewards link took people to the $30 SIM with no discount. Hence I got the cashback but also ended up paying $30 for the SIM.

        • OK so apparently here's what happened:

Telstra did a switcheroo, and cancelled the 50% off promotion on the $30 SIM and introduced a new promo for a $15 SIM with $30 credit.

So I must have clicked through to the Cashrewards link during the switchover period, which took me to the now undiscounted $30 SIM, and I totally failed notice that I was being charged the full $30.

The links were probably updated around the time Pricepal started their $10 cashback and CR changed to $12.

What a pain. Trying to sort out a return/refund now.

        • @zzyss:

For the record, I wasn't able to get a refund for the purchase since it was my own stupid mistake, but to Telstra's credit (no pun intended) they did offer to add $15 credit to the SIM once activated.

I said that didn't want to activate the SIM right now, and wasn't sure when I'd be activating it, so a supervisor offered to put the amount as a credit against my post-paid account with them instead.

          @zzyss:

The way I see things, its always been $30 sim cards with one alternate product page with 50% off. To access the deal, there's a special link you need to click on from CashRewards to reach that page on Telstra, which isn't searchable on their website. A search on the Telstra site will only show the $30 sim card.

On the other hand, if you do a search for Telstra on the CashRewards website, you would only see two options. One is the $150 cashback for Mobile Phones, and the other is a $12 Cashback on Telstra Prepaid purchases. If you click on the Prepaid page, it will show you a "Go To Store" link. This would only take you to the prepaid store, where you can only see $30 sim cards with no discount. If you click on the "See Coupons and Offers" link or scroll down instead of clicking on the "Go To Store" link on CashRewards, there is a offer of 50% off Telstra $30 sim cards. Mouse over it, and click on the "Details" link to move to the CashRewards page for it, or click on that "Go To Store" link, and you would go straight to the Telstra page with the $30 sims priced at $15. It's a bit confusing to have that buried down low but perhaps the cashback is also for Prepaid phone purchases, not just the $30 sim cards. Telstra has hidden the discounted sim cards from being searchable, perhaps to maximise their profit from those that don't know about the offer.

Afterthought: the cashback link at the top of the site only takes you to the first CashRewards Telstra Prepaid cashback page. Probably would be better if it was updated and linked straight to the buried page that has the prepaid sim at 50% off, since this OzBargain thread is for the $30 sim specifically.

Ordered on 2/6. CashRewards showed $12 back at time of order, account shows $8!
Second order minutes later is not recorded.
    Have lodged complaint with CashRewards.

    • Me too!

    • Noticed that too, that the cashback has been recorded as $8. Made 3 orders, and luckily all 3 orders were tracked, but all came back as $8.

      • Customer Service has responded back to me, blamed a technical error for it, and have now recorded each order as $12, as per their offer.

      My complaint to CashRewards…
Bought Telstra Pre-Paid Bonus $12.00 Cashback
But only got $8 Cashback, even though your site stated $12 when I ordered!
Why have you reduced the promised Cashback by 1/3??
I ordered a second minutes later but there is no Cashback showing.

      Response from CashRewards…
      Thank you for your email.
Cashback amounts change from time to time due to promotions and special offers from retailers. At the time of your purchase from Telstra Pre-Paid 02/06/2015 cashback rewards were $8.00.
Thank you for your understanding and for using CashRewards when you shop online.
      Kind Regards,
      Kate

      My reply…
But your site stated it was $12 when I clicked through to Telstra offer late on 2/6.
Pretty useless site if you refuse to pay what was offered at the time of purchase.
Will post your pathetic response online.

      Start complaining to CashRewards!

This is crap….CR is getting to new low…

        Hi Bruce,
        We apologise for the confusion.
Upon checking the time of your click against the time your purchase was recorded by the store we can see that the incorrect amount tracked to your CashRewards account. This has now been amended.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
        Kind Regards,
        Kate

Apparently should be fixed for others.

Complaining to the site helps ;-)
[I complained today about a product I bought that will be out of date when I want to use it. The merchant had already refunded a 50% overcharge! The company is refunding my payment, supplying a new product, and sending around a staff member to personally deliver it ;-)]

    • I also ordered on 2/6, perhaps earlier in the day when CashRewards showed $10.

Account shows $8. Contacted them and received this BS response, even thought I clearly stated that their own website showed $10 AT TIME OF PURCHASE.

Cashback amounts change from time to time due to promotions and special offers from retailers. At the time of your purchase from Telstra Pre-Paid on the 02/06/2015 cashback rewards were $8.00.

Nothing warms me to a company like copy & paste responses where they don't even read your enquiry.

Update: It has been changed to $12.

  • I have 2x$8 showing from purchases on 2/6. And 1x$12 from a purchase on 3/6. I was expecting them all to be $12.

    • I wonder if they'll all come through as $12 at the time of payment. Usually these commission things change in the background and don't get updated on the websites until someone or something triggers it.

      • See response from CashRewards above :-(
Don't forget, their business is making money from our purchases.

    • Now showing 3x$12.

    Andrew from Cashrewards here…
We have received a number of emails from members stating they have received $8 instead of the expected $12 cashback rewards. We are working through these and wish to assure all members that eligible purchases will be credited with $12 ASAP. We apologise for this technical error and thank you for your patience while we fix this up.

    • But response from CR in comments few places above looks dodgy ……
"Cashback amounts change from time to time due to promotions and special offers from retailers. At the time of your purchase from Telstra Pre-Paid 02/06/2015 cashback rewards were $8.00."

    • "that eligible purchases will be credited with $12 ASAP"

The question is then: what are eligible purchases? Do the purchases need to be made on some particular dates? According to your customer service Kate (see post above), purchases made on 2 June only attracts $8 cashback from CR?

      • +5

The rewards amount changed at 3:30pm on 02/06/2015 from $8 to $10 and at 6:15pm from $10 to $12 so purchases made after this time earn $12. Hope this clears up any confusion.

  • Regret to advise this offer has been OzB'd! And no longer available. Hopefully it comes back soon.

    • :(

      Thanks rep!

Has anyone else not received cashback notification from cash rewards? I ordered while the $12 cashback was active on the 2nd but have had not received anything from cash rewards, the sim has already been delivered.

    • +2

I have been warned by CashRewards I am not to post emails from them online!!

But their response to my enquiry about a missing claim was generally you will have to provide details of purchase & they will ask the merchant.

So lodge a complaint & they'll follow it up. It's in the FAQ from memory. Took 90 days last time with another merchant.

      • Yeah I've submitted a transaction enquiry

      • +2

obviously they don't like people knowing how poorly they treated you, well they shouldn't treat you poorly to begin with.

        • +1

Legally CashRewards try to cover themselves in all correspondence. You'll find this at the bottom of any response…

This email is intended only to be read or used by the addressee. It is confidential and may contain legally privileged information. If you have received this communication in error, please destroy all electronic and paper copies and notify the sender immediately. Mistransmission is not intended to waive confidentiality or privilege. CashRewards reserves the right, to the extent permitted under applicable law, to monitor electronic communications. By messaging with CashRewards you consent to the foregoing.

So what they responded can be discussed, just what they actually emailed can't be shared, maybe even with your lawyer! I'd love to see that tested.

At least the previous "poke your eyes out with a pointy stick if you read this in error" clause has been removed ;-) To be safe, delete this deal now, burn your computer, before CashRewards lawyers arrive.

          They left out the clause,
          Have a nice day :-)

mine took 5 days before appearing in my account

    • I'm in the same boat. Didn't click anything else while going through that link either.

      • I received a response that it may take up to 7 days to be reported, and to message back if it hasn't shown up after 7 days.

  • @ahc99 - following link still allows to buy $30 starter pack for $15. Dont know why you pulled it from CR.

    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/15-…

    • Because Telstra appear not to be honoring the purchases.

  • +1

Has anyone received their $12 back yet? What is the timeframe from purchase to get cash back?

    • It may take upto 90 days.

  • Has anyone received their orders yet?

    • +1

Aaaaages ago. They both arrived the next day after ordering!

      • Ditto. I've still to receive cashback yet however.
