Anyone knows the expiry date of these SIM?

    • +3

The ones from Coles have been mid 2017.

      • -3

        this isn't coles…

        • +1

But if they're the same packaging the dates are often similar.

        • -4

@nocure: again this isn't Coles. Kind of like showing a Mars bar on special that expries 2017 and saying all Mars bars expire in 2017. Capisci?

        • @Son ofa Zombie:
          OMG 😱🔫

        • -6

@nocure: lol. BTW, I got 10 of the COLES SIMs. So please don't spam that expired-ass deal hoping to answer a question no one asked about. lol

        • -1

          @Son ofa Zombie:
Your the one posting stupid statements.FFS

        • +1

          @Son ofa Zombie:

This is new packaging that arrives late last year, I would tend to agree with Nocure that it will not be too different to what you get from Coles.

        • -6

@nocure: lol, got u mad enough to waste 3 negs? poor child.

        • -5

          @nocure:
          *You're

        • @Son ofa Zombie: Why don't you R.I.P (Rest In Pieces)? This is a new deal. I bet no one has their SIM packs delivered yet. And I also believe that Telstra won't send you soon-to-expired SIM packs.

If you want to know, go buy some. ;)

        • -1

@721411: OMG I was the one saying not to speculate! lol It is the other person saying it is 2017 like it is written in stone. Can you pass on the message I got 1 card from Coles that expires next month. Please also don't make fun of my name. It hurts my feelings. :(

  • These will be a good deal tomorrow when the coles $1 offer ends.

    • I think it has already ended (26/May/2015)?

      • +1

He properly means Coles' offer ends 26 May so this deal here comes just in time.

Cashback is available only on a new phone on a Go Mobile Plan

Simply shop as you normally would on the stores website

    • +1

So does that mean we don't get the $8 cashback since we will be buying a starter kit? Doesn't seem that way on the cashrewards website… I'm kinda confused…

    • where does it say that?

    • Piss, u read that wrong

  • thanks OP

  • I don't think you get cash back on the Telstra $30 starter kit.

    • Says $8 cash back on purchase of the starter pack.

      • When you click shop now it says this:

Cashback is available only on a new phone on a Go Mobile Plan

  • +3

Just to clarify the offer is Save 50% on Telstra $30 Pre-Paid SIM Starter Kits plus $8 cashback http://www.cashrewards.com.au/coupons/save-50-on-telstra-30-…

  • Seems there is another offer on Cashrewards for 'Go Mobile Plan'.

    Bonus $150.00 Cashback from CashRewards
When you take up a new mobile on a Go Mobile Plan with a handset repayment from Telstra

  • You pay $15 for the $30 pack and get $8 cashback so effectively only $7, good deal/

  • +3

Telstra shop asked me to confirm I have less than 5 prepaid sims or whatever. I answered yes and the order went through but I'm guessing the SIMs I have activated, used and not topped up are probably still active…

    • +1

If you have 5 or more the ID requirements are more stringent. There's not really a limit on the number you can activate though.

      • Why is it more stringent if there is no limit?

What exactly does "more stringent" even mean? Or did u make that up to sound more official?

        • -1

Drivers' License or some other form of ID.

        • No, I didn't make it up. "More stringent" is described here on the AMTA website.

If you pay by credit or debit card and have fewer than 5 mobile prepaid services activated, you will not be asked for additional evidence of identity documents. If you have 5 or more services activated you will be required to show additional evidence of identity documents.

      • +1

There's a limit of 30 service numbers associated with a single Telstra account.

        • Interesting, I didn't know that! Source?

        • @astrodude:

          Random Whirlpool post.

Also, I currently have 14 services on my account.

  • +1

Just got one. Hope the cashback comes through!

  • The link shows a picture and title which says $15… But has $30 credit…

If you search the Telstra website, only $2 and $30 comes up…
    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/30-…

Does the cash back applies to the $15 sim?

    • There is no $15 SIM, but a $30 Telstra Starter Pack (the ones we bought from Coles for $1!) for $15, less $8 Cashback later.

  • Why didn't OP link directly to Cashrewards site rather than Telstra's? If you buy the SIM pack directly from Testra, you won't get the $8 cashback. Am I right?

    • +1

Well I agree, however that is ozbargain's rule not to link directly to cashback websites, but to mention it in the title, otherwise would be easier to link directly to Cashrewards.

      • +1

Sorry, I didn't know about that rule. Just raise the concern as many users may not use Cashrewards' direct link, therefore, no extra bonus!

    • +1

I think this has something to do with the categorising that OB does of stores. So if people are subscribed to Telstra deals, if the link is to Cashrewards instead of Telstra it won't trigger.

  • People who don't want to switch to Telstra's mobile service can use this credit to spend $30 on Google Play, right?
Google Play credit with Telstra sim
    Google Play Credit Telstra Stacking

    • Yes, that's traditionally what I've bought them for.

  • Edit: working now.

  • "Cashback is available only on Telstra $30 Pre-Paid SIM Starter Kits."

    So it is $15 - $8 = $7 as OP said

    • +3

Curious to know, is this cashback per kit or per transaction? if latter, are we able to claim multiple cashback for each transaction?

      • +2

One per transaction. Should work multiple times but i don't think anyone knows for sure yet.

      • +1

Have asked this question via email, here is their response:

        Thank you for your email.

Cashback is valid per 'checkout' from Telstra, (i.e.: if you buy multiple SIM cards in one order you will be eligible for one cashback payment. If you buy each SIM individually you will receive one payment per transaction.

Thank you for shopping with CashRewards when you shop online.

        Kind Regards,
        Kate
        Customer Service

  • Just want to confirm, can these sims be activated for the tablet data plan only? or has to be one of the pre-paid plans only?

    • It has to be a pre-paid offer. It can be either phone or mobile broad band offers.

Works in 3G and 4G mobiles, tablets and mobile broadband devices

  • +1

I have done 3 transactions and on my 4th received an error. Calling Telstra they say you can only purchase more if it doesn't take you over 5. I already had 2 services active which explained it.

The person I talked to said the limit is based on personal details and she approved of the idea of using someone elses details to buy more.

  • +2

What's the maximum cashback? Can you do multiple transactions and get cashback on each one? The T&C's don't mention anything along these lines.

  • thanks, will give it a go.

  • Hmm, I just had an SMS saying that my order has been cancelled. Not sure whether it was the 4th one I did, or whether they are cancelling one/some of my earlier orders too.

  • Still better to shop $30 at Coles and pay $1 for sim.

    • +2

      Expired yesterday?

  • Link?

  • +1

You must use the cashrewards link to see the starter sim at 50% off.

    • +2

That is because it is not linked to the deal. Use this one instead. http://www.cashrewards.com.au/coupons/save-50-on-telstra-30-….

      The procedure is:
      - Create and confirm your Cashrewards account (if you haven't got one yet)
      - Go to that link above
      - Check the info to make sure that is the right deal
      - Click the green SHOP NOW button —> Telstra website
      - From here, do your shopping as usual.

NEVER OPEN ANY OTHER TAB OR GO TO ANY OTHER WEBSITE WHILE PURCHASING STUFF USING CASHREWARDS LINKS OR YOU'LL WON'T BE ABLE TO CLAIM CASHBACK!!!

      • Should I be able to see the transaction listed immediately after the purchase (under rewards to something) in cashrewards? It says up to 7 days but I was just wondering if it was showing up immediately for anyone since I'm not seeing anything.

    • No. The "GO TO DEAL" link already offers 50% off sim packs. ($15/pack)
Use CASHREWARDS link to earn an extra $8 cashback. ($7/pack)

  • +1

Bought one for $15 yesterday and received a tracking receipt email for $8 cashback today.

  • You can only get a max of 3 ?

    • Not sure about this. Check other comments above (witty, nicois), bạn hiền.

  • Mine delivered today already! Came by StarTrack.
Got the Cashback tracking e-mail too.

  • bought yesterday, no cashback email yet :( bought it using my iPhone.

    • finally appeared in my acccount 5 days later

  • Thanks OP

Also ordered one 2 days ago, payment went through thought all was ok. But today Telstra emailed me saying my order is cancelled because they couldn't verify some information. The email also says "If you'd like to place a new order, please visit your local Telstra Business Centre." This is the very first time I tried ordering via Telstra shop online, feeling disappointed with the experience.

Should I try again or just wait for another offline deal?

    • try again

    • That's what happened when I tried activating a SIM card I bought from Dick Smith a while ago. After chatting with a staff, he managed to activate my SIM card with my ID. If you have a foreign passport, you may have the same problem with Telstra system.

      • Good to know about this ID info. Don't have a foreign passport but looks like could be similar issue (but I'm only buying not even activating it yet…😞)
I guess now wait for the refund first before putting another $15 bet in.
And see if/when the cashback will be reversed too.
        so much steps…

        • Last time I tried buying 1 pack at the link provided, it brought me to the very similar page where I had to give all essential ID details to activate my SIM pack (as I mentioned above).
I think you can contact both Telstra and Cashrewards about this issue. Take some screenshots, hide your personal detail and send to them if possible.

BTW, I couldn't use Cashrewards' link for this deal anymore. After clicking " Go to store", it redirected me back to Cashrewards page. Tried with Firefox and Chromium, same results.

        • I did try to order once more..

3/6 placed order, and received email that it was processed and on its way to deliver

10/6 still not received the SIM, checked the tracking email and realised the status is already "delivered" on 5/6 (a different location though)???

I contacted live chat/online team to see what's going on. They say it has been returned back to Telstra as (again) they have problem with authentication. Q: What about my refund? As there is no information of it being returned… A: it'll be processed 24-48hrs from now…

It might be me the only unlucky one. so much time wasted for nothing :'(

(sorry but from this experience I prefer Optus over Telstra on this one, at least I don't have to provide all of my details merely just for purchasing)

  • +2

The good: I got my $30 starter kit today, delivered by startrack, one day after ordering. The SIM expiry is Feb 2017.

The bad: Still nothing showing in the "my rewards" section of the cashrewards site and no tracking email (and yes, I logged in, clicked the cashrewards link, bought, and was done). My first time using cashrewards and I know it's not been the 7 days following the purchase, but 2 people above already got a tracking email, and this deal really needs the cashback to work to make it attractive, so personally I'm holding off on buying any more until if/when the cashback at least starts tracking in their system.

  • +3

I took one for the team and put through a 2nd transaction through CashRewards. Will let you know if I get the confirmation e-mail.

At least if this 2nd one doesn't work it's still $22 for $60 credit, still good (better than iTunes card discounts!)

    • +1

OK, 2nd order has arrived this morning but no Cashrewards confirmation e-mail this time. So looks like it's a once-only thing.

      • +1

Whilst I have not done a 2nd transaction, my initial transaction did not trigger an email. I logged into my account and the $8 is pending. Did you try accessing your cash rewards account?

        • +1

Yes, still just the one. I did get an email the first time around prior to receiving the SIM pack.

        • @zzyss: Thanks for "taking one for the team". I missed out on $2 because the cashback is now $10. Anyway, I wonder if the one cashback limit is per Telstra order or per cashback scheme because then buying another through a different one like PricePal that also offers $10 back https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/196680 would provide a way to buy an additional kit for $5. If you can be bothered registering. I am already registered but the minimum cashback payment amount is $20.

        • As it turns out you can select "No minimum" instead of the default $20 for Minimum Payout in PricePal so I went ahead and ordered a second kit for $15 and received the order/payment confirmation email from Telstra. Will hope and wait to see if I get $10 back.

EDIT: And, according to this comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/196680#comment-2795756 cashback may be payable from PricePal for more than one kit/transaction though I'd wait for confirmation before buying more. Anyone else want to take another for the team?

        • +2

          @samlor:

Huh. I guess karma kicked in. Checked my CR account today to see that the 2nd $8 cashback is now recorded. Oh well, everybody's abandoned for Pricepal anyway :-P

I'm one of their Founding members so already have an account with them and an outstanding balance even, but I think I've got enough Telstra credit for now :-)

        • @zzyss: Gotcha, well as they offer cashback for more than 1 purchase and it is now $12, I'll be buying more through cashrewards thanks.

  • Should be expired now but it's still on the cashrewards site.

    • It expires on 30 June.

      • I see.

Save 50% on Telstra $30 Pre-Paid SIM Starter Kits!

Buy a Telstra Pre-Paid $30 SIM through our online shop today and pay half price. Limited time offer.

I assumed it was one day only by their wording.

Though I'm not sure if it's the $8 cashback that expires 30/6 or the 50% off sims or both.

        • +1

Confirmed to expire 30 June with Cashrewards.

        • @StevenC96: So when does the 50% off expire?

  • Is this available at Telstra stores?

  • Did anyone get their purchase refunded (without explanation)?

    • I had my second attempt refunded. I may have gotten one of the details incorrect.

  • +1

    Cashback is now $10.

    • Thanks, the title has been amended :-)

  • +1

So for those that got $8 on the original promo, can we sign up for a second half price sim and get the $10 as well?

    • I bought 2, I couldn't see anything saying there was a limit - its said ◦Rewards are payable on eligible purchases - so I assume by purchases means you can do more than 1 but not sure. I emailed them but don't know if it will work or not

  • +3

    It's say $12 cashback now. :)

  • I purchased 2 this morning, does anyone know if cashrewards will still provide the $12?
