Being cleared because it is overpriced and a very average performer. It heats ok (but no better than any $20 fan heater), blows air (doesn't cool) like any $15 fan (no better). Good points - no fan blades (big deal). Bad points - LOUD, even on the lowest setting it's quite noisy. Hard to get it to tilt.

Honestly, I would hate to pay any more than $90. Really annoyed that I ended up paying $319.

    • agree. It's way overpriced. Tried different stores and the cool function is mediocre at best (depends on the overall room temperature), the heat function is slightly better. They say you can save the air conditioning bill…well you can turn any fan on with the AC and you'll still be cool…don't buy a dyson

    • Agreed on all points, but you missed one - Sucks power like a (profanity).

I might get one when it drops to $40…

I actually thought it had dropped to $40 which is why it was posted as a bargain.

I find it hard to believe a $400 fan heater is a bargain.

    • Well, James's son Jake has released a $1000 desk lamp. That said, the LED's suppose to last 160,000hrs though.

      • So that's about 18.5 years. I believe there was no such LED lamp 18 years ago.

Quick Google reveals a something called accelerated life testing with the help of an Arrhenius Equation.

  • I admire Dyson for being able to develop the bladeless technology, but it is a big premium to pay.

    • +3

Its not bladeless, the blades are hidden from view and the air is channelled through thin vanes. This causes a great deal of friction and as a result the unit is highly inefficient and loud. From an engineering point of view it is a horrible idea.

I should've said invisible bladeless technology. I have one and yes, they're loud. I appreciate their hand dryers in some of the better hotels, restaurants etc.

    • He didn't invent it, see http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bladeless_fan
A friend has a cheap Chinese one and a Dyson, pretty similar really, Dyson one looks a bit nicer.

You guys should check out the new model - much quieter.

i saw dyson heater fans that looked like these at BigW on their Recall board.
I assume its not one of these am04 and am05

i find it strange the Dyson has a website just for Dyson Recalls, trying to separate problems from their main site?

    • What your saying doesn't make sense, but that reminds me, I did get excellent service out of this, so I'll relay the details.
We had one of these models that was under recall. I googled the model after our power bill jumped and found the recall. I filled out an online form and there was a return box at our door within a few days, within 1 week we had a brand new one sent out to us(not a refurb). Oh and the warranty was extended a further 3 years!

Still wouldn't buy one(it was a gift) but I guess the service is built into the price.
