Site not responding for me… Is anybody else having the problem?

    • +3

Yep hopefully it comes back soon ;)

    • +4

Yeah, not responding here either. Guessing the sales must be good.

    • +1

      Yes no response

    • for anyone thats still having a problem use the mobile website m.catchoftheday.com.au to not get gridlocked

  • +8

Not much point having a sale when your website won't even load !!
Is this Catch Of The Day or "Crash Of The Day" ? :) .

    • It's been a while since I've heard that one…

  • +3

    Ozbargained already?

  • -1

Worst thing is sale wasn't supposed to start until 8pm so prob a lot more traffic to come. From what I could see most of the 75% off was almost gone or sold out.

  • +4

    Mobile site sort of works.

    https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/

Don't get too excited, looks like they are offloading all the stuff that doesn't sell.

  • +4

I bought Philips shp9500 headphones from COTD weeks ago. If that's on sale, then I really recommend getting them but they're open type headphones kinda like AKG flagship headphones I think. They were $90'ish dollars and took only 2 days to deliver. I use these headphone with my FiiO e10 usb audio computer thing for music.

    • -1

Yeah, it's on the 40% discount section. Most of the flagships are open and for indoor btw.

    • Edit: Ordered on the Wednesday 6th May, Received on the Monday 11th May. (So 3 to 4 business days, my last reply is incorrect)

I just found some old screenshots of my purchase :)

    • Impulse purchased for $57.96 :) Cheers!

  • +3

COTD deals have been few and far between recently, especially since they split with Dick

    • +1

did they? should have stocked up on the eneloops.

      • Dick is currently running deals on Groupon. Haven't seen a Ds deal on here for ages.

  • https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/get-an-extra-60-off-i… that works out to be 114 bucks after shipping if you want razer stuff

      • I remember people recommending this because it has Cherry MX blue switches on one of the recent Razer keyboard deal from COTD.

        • Just make sure you don't mind the noisy "click-clack" sound while typing and not sharing a room with someone else if you are getting a keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches :)

  • +5

    site is getting absolutely hammered

  • +1

This is ridiculous! These guys need to step up their games if they want people to go their site to buy stuff!

  • -3

Your referral code has been exhausted

    • +1

There's also the random link if the OP's link is exhausted.

  • The servers must like me - managed to browse through most of the deals. Great sale if you want shoes that aren't your size, women's underwear or the occasional electronics good hidden away in there

  • Sale just started. Will update with good deals soon

So OP, 45 minutes later does that mean there are no good deals?

    • It's hard to call them "good deals" when you can't even add them to the cart. It just hangs.

    • Yeah Ive only been able to place one order. 2 pairs of men's sketchers for $24 each. 2 baby grobags for $12.50 each and a cordless glue gun for $5. Took me like an hour to get 1 order through. So can't really post any good deals coz its constantly crashing.

  • +1

    The site is totally KO'd!

  • No discount was applied in the cart :(

    • Enter your postcode, it then will work.

  • 503 Service Unavailable. No server is available to handle this request.

  • +1

    Fail Of The Day ?

  • Anyone actually managed to buy anything?

    • I've managed to buy Russell Hobbs 2050W Hot Zone Grill for $35 after 5 attempts.

  • lame

  • +2

Awesome… $322 worth of stuff for $99 delivered. Used mobile site, desktop site not working very well. Will keep looking for more things to buy, but quite a fair bit of availability for this kind of sale!

    • What stuff?

      • Footjoy golf shoes, globe thongs, 5 usb carger, freshjive jacket, freshjive tee, ironman dvd box set, joseph joseph dish rack

  • +3

OK. After many attempts and refreshes, the site worked for me and looking through the items on sale I would rather pass. Most of the stuff is for women and kids and a lot of male underwear etc and other accessories. Rubbish!

    • what wrong with discounted male underwear?

      • Well, if you were planning to buy some new underwear then you'll benefit from this deal but if you want buy just because there's a "deal" (though most of the stuff is either the wrong color, brand or size etc) then good luck. I aint buying any.

        • +4

as an ozbargainer, i wait 10 years before buying new underwear. I convinced myself the holes were good for airflow in summer but considering the onset of cooler weather, i think it's time to splash out and get 14 pairs of rio for $7. That's one months supply if you turn them inside out before washing.

        • @roiboi123:

In that case then may the Ozbargain almighty be on your side, my friend.

        • @roiboi123: go commando. yeah

        • +1

@brongz: tried this, but painful incidents with zippers ensured i never tried again.

  • +2

Giving up, constant error once you get anything in the cart. Oh well.

  • +14

In before JV asks what are the deals?

    • +2

      LOL

      • +5

Put prices in title. Yes, all of them.

  • +2

    1 x DeWalt 25-Piece Screwdriving Set
    $19.99

…. that's IN my cart just before payment…that's the full listed price.

  • How do you get a neg for a deal around here?

  • +8

To be fair most of the deals are actually bad. Nothing worth it and Certainly no where near 75% off current market prices

    • +7

Guys one jv is enough :(

      • But being like jv is fun

  • +1

Managed to get both Razer keyboards (deathstalker and blackwidow). That's roughly $200 savings! Thanks op

    • +1

Nice. I tried to see if the Razer Naga 2014 mouse was for discount. It seems it's not, as I want a second one in case mine broke. Also I didn't need a keyboard as I like my cherry red filco tenkeyless. And there wasn't any tenkeyless Razer out in the sale. But that's a really nice saving!

  • +10

6 bottles of shit wine delivered for $10

    • On Tuesday I got 2 x 4litre Tangled Vine wines from the Coles bottle o.
No waiting for delivery and ok'ish as far as drinkable (1 red and 1 white) $20

  • +2

OMG they have a bad website. When will they learn ?

    • It is not as bad as their [minimal] customer service, so give them some credit!

  • Nice! Grabbed a watch and a new phone case. $50 off altogether!

  • +1

what worked for me was the mobile website on firefox

  • +10

Haven't seen Crash of the Day for a while…

Edit: Remind me the old days

    • +5

So when will Ozbargain buy them?…

    • Thanks Scotty, I guess there has been some progress since then.

    • Geez. Totally different users as well. I only recognised two ozbargainers.

  • boom server non responsive, anyone else having this drama

    • +6

Nah, I think it's just you

  • Payment keeps failing!

Crash of the Day strikes again!

    • .. have a charge to my card but it also says: Quantity requested for Razer DeathStalker Ultimate Gaming Keyboard is not available.

      Hope it went through fine..

  • $5 - 15W 5 x USB travel charger seems like a good deal, if you're buying something else and already paying for shipping

    https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/get-an-extra-75-off-i…

  • Thanks OP, 4 pairs of those Bracks 5 pocket pants I've been hunting everywhere for, a driving cap & a pair of Converse for a gift for $55.73 https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/event/get-an-extra-75-off-in-…

Disclaimer: The following is most likely to be false information. Yet fits the behaviour model quite nicely

My theory is this is a baiting ploy. By Allowing a few sales to go through so as to make it look real..then they let the crashing continue 99% of the sale time, in which they reduce their displayed stock quantities to appear 'out of stock'..

People then keep hitting refresh, adding to the cycle but with every press, people are wiring their brain to 'buy from crashoftheday…buy from crashoftheday…got to get to the cart to buy from crashoftheday'.. in a hypnotic like manner.

Eventually people stop trying and then assume that they missed out and everyone got in on the bargain prices..The few people that got the items will brag away making everyone else jealous and effectively advertise for crashoftheday.

Everyone else gets the bout of 'I wish I could just get past the cart checkout' envy..and then has feelings of wanting to buy from there. They then allow the crap items that no one really wants to be sold at cheapish prices because.well its better than handing it to charity or burning it..

After the sale period ends.. crashoftheday can then relist those items for a minor discount ..and then people who still have that nagging urge to buy will think oh well, its still some discount and buy it anyway..just to scratch the itch. And yes items that were listed as 'out of stock' will magically reappear as available for sale the next day.

No one bothers to check on them or find out why they haven't upgraded the services and servers to accomodate for these 'bait' sales. This seems the model that they appear to have run with since the year of inception.

    • +1

      you should be a lawyer!

    • Yup, that's their entire business model. The only time they have anything worth buying, they have 10 items and they get sold <1 second.

  • +14

I want my 15 mins back.

  • +2

Crap when you can't even get on their site.

And I agree with Anuerism… the tech answer to bait and switch…. Tease and Crash.

    • +1

Tease and Crash.. I love the naming convention.

  • +1

    Just use the Mobile Site

    https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/

    • +2

      and more crashes

    • +1

mobile site is basically stuffed now…

Can everyone tweet or post a picture of the 504 error to their facebook. The sale might get extended or we might get some sort of extra discount

    • Can't get anything to stay in the cart on mobile site

  • Got the email earlier, went on and the site comes and goes, hard to bargain shop with a 504 gateway timeout

  • I don't know if my order went through… Bought a few things not on sale and got 30% off on them too. Finally used my Yumtable voucher.

    • Not sure if mine did either! Got the charge to my card though!

  • I wonder if you can add another item after already confirming an earlier order/payment made - to save on shipping.

    • nope ive tried that. They will only offer to cancel your order so you can re order again
