Hi guys. I have no idea if this is targeted. It says it's for users that have never sold anything on eBay.com, but I've sold plenty of stuff on eBay.com.au and I just registered successfully. See screenshot here. Please give it a go, and report back via the comments. We can always get the post removed if I got it wrong. Good luck!

          I think a bit of a whinge is justified in this case. I have 100+ items sold, and I actually tolerated the higher fees because it's still the fastest way to sell junk.. but 6 month buyer protection is just absolutely insane.

    I'll buy your "25 dollar item" if you buy my "25 dollar item" wink wink

  • anyone want to buy $26? :)

    • whats the link i will press buy if u can "pay cash" or bank transfer and mark as paid

    • Go half/ half?
      haha

  • Registration worked for me too, but I've already sold stuff… and have stuff listed for sale now…

    We will see, I would assume they are going to remove all ineligible people from the offer…

  • Yep I got through, sold plenty as well. Got the same confirmation as OP.

  • +6

    No disrespect to the OP, but I don't get why so many people are voting plus on the deal, when nobody has confirmed that it even works yet?

    • -4

      its the ozbargain spirit that counts. don't be a drag

      • -1

        Haha, fair point, I will be a sheep and plus the deal then!

  • Does everyone here has an US eBay account? I can't log in to eBay.com with my Australian account. And it won't let me create a new account eBay.com with the same email. I tried to register a new email but it is asking for US address and phone number.

      Dont bother

      A first-time seller is defined as an eBay registered user who has never sold an item on eBay.com (under any user ID).

      Multiple user ID's from same person void the promo

      • I never successfully sold any item on eBay

        • +1

          you need a US phone number for verification

        • @easternculture: Okay. I think time to make some deal with my friends in the US :)

    • similar problem here. I created an account and then want to sell but it requires and address.
      Once I change the country to AU it directs me to ebay.com.au

      • there are plenty of sellers from china on there.

      • Once I change the country to AU it directs me to ebay.com.au

        Well… Don't change the country. You WANT to stay on US Site, because the idea is to list there.

      Does everyone here has an US eBay account? I can't log in to eBay.com with my Australian account.

      RUBBISH. You can log into any ebay site using an Aussie account.

      And it won't let me create a new account eBay.com with the same email

      Of course - because you already HAVE an EBay account.

      I tried to register a new email but it is asking for US address and phone number.

      Of course, because you are saying that you are an AMERICAN.

      • thanks for clearing all that up for me

      • RUBBISH. You can log into any ebay site using an Aussie account.

        May be you think it's rubbish because it's working for you but it's not letting me log in with my AU account. The same credentials are working on ebay.com.au. Thanks for your help anyways.

        • May be you think it's rubbish because it's working for you but it's not letting me log in with my AU account

          How OLD is that account? Like 10 minutes old?

          In which case, your account is probably not "live worldwide" yet, and you need to wait for the servers to sync up.

          Here is a sample listing: http://i.imgur.com/xx0EZB7.png

          AU Account, US Site. I didn't make it go live, just saved as draft.

          That ID has zero selling feedback, only buying. But it's pretty old account, so not 100% proof… was mainly just to test if the Aussie ID was blocked from logging in (as people claimed here).

          One trick - when you FIRST log in, it flicks you back to AU. But after logging in, then reload .COM and you will be logged in there. When you click "Sell" it will ask for another login, but that one will be OK.

          You may need to be registered for selling first. That means having a Paypal account on file, agree to listing policies, etc. You might be able to do most of that on EBAY.COM.AU but don't go ahead with the actual listing… just preview and save it as draft.

        • @llama: My account is almost 3 years old. I even had few listings which were not successful. I tried your suggestion but it won't let me log in. Too much of a hassle for this. I give up. Thanks for trying to help.

    Ridiculous selling fees, hope Alibaba comes to beat EBay

    • +4

      Selling things is the complete opposite of buying, so an OzBargain mentality will not work.

      Therefore don't focus on the cost, focus on the PROFIT.

      It's far better to sell something at $100 and pay 10% fees, than it is to not sell it and pay no fees. In fact, it's also better than paying no fees and selling for $80.

      When you sell something, Ebay gets 9.9% and you get 90.1%. You only pay if you sell, and YOU set the selling prices. So, it's DERRRR easy to work out…. if you want $100 in your pocket, you need to list for $111. If it doesn't sell, you lose nothing. If it sells, you gain $100. How hard is that to comprehend?

      • +2

        thats the only reason I still sell on the odd occasion on eBay.. yes the fees are insane and i'm always angry a month after I have sold when I have to cough up the fees but I compensate for that by putting sky high figures on items not expecting anyone in the world to ever pay such an exorbitant price and yet they do every time.. might take a while but eventually I get it where I wouldn't get even half on gumtree.

        • Ebayer seller newb here, do you sell at a fixed/buy it now price or as auction?

          I'm about to start selling motorbike gear (2nd hand) on ebay and never sold anything on Ebay before.
          I'm doing research on selling now.
          Any good tips using ebay or ebooks/sites I should look at?

          Sorry for hijacking your post OP, comments in this post have been helpful.

          @OrbDaggerZ:

          hard to say since i have no experience with such items if you auction them end them sunday or monday evenings is usually the best

    • Alibaba is a wholesaler, so they will never "beat" eBay. Aliexpress on the other hand may provide some competition. Only time will tell.

  • Cheers OP :)

    Here what you do…
    * Create selling item.
    * BUY IT USING Diff PAYPAL account (name)
    * wait a week
    * DISPUTE TRANSACTION
    * Refund all cost

    WIN!!!

    • Hmmmmmmmm

    couldn't we all set up a recipricol network of ebay sales/purchase… i guess the seller pays whatever the paypal fee is… then we do the same for the other, and get a nice $50 ebay cred?

    If you need a US number for the phone verification. You can use this app, they give you a private number to use and receive messages and calls for free.

    (Not sure if there is any equivalent app for iOS devices though)

    So will this work if you ship the item only in Oz?

  • everyone should buy fake items from each other or if you want to really make it legit buy a envelope from each other for 25 bucks haha no fraud + profit/ regaining lost ebay fees = win
