not sure why i am negged?

Not sure why you would care…

  • Thanks, but I had to return ZTE back to Coles two times as it would stop recognising sim after few days. Although I did get 3 months Netflix.

  • OMG

WIll do my 2 handsets tonight!!

    SICK!!

  • Looks like it's only for ZTE F286, I've tried other andriod phone but code wasn't right.

  • anyone who did this netflix "deal" know how to use the credit if you signed up through itunes originally (via appleTV) as via itune is bills itunes and it doesn't use the 'netflix' credit?
I signed up this way so I can used discounted itunes credit (HN 2 for $20 deals for the win) in the future but it just did the first renewal last week and it just billed my itunes credit even though I claimed the credit from Optus successfully.

    • I was wondering the same thing. Searched forums, netflix sites etc but couldn't find any answer. Looks like if you signed up through itunes you can't claim these free netflix credits. I'm happy to be wrong and appreciate if someone could show a way to do it.

      • Yes Sharp you are wrong, simply longon to your netflix account on your desktop computers,
        1. On Left Hand side top corner you will see your profile icone and drop down list click and go to "Your Account".

        1. then Left hand side find "Update Payment Info" click

        2. Remove Itune Billing account.

then logout and it will will continue your current month as usual and from next month start charging from optus voucher.

          in my account it says

"Your membership is billed through iTunes
Go to iTunes to update or cancel your membership"

No place claim optus credits and no place to update payment info.

        • The thing is if you disconnect from itunes how do you reconnect .. and can you. My understanding is if you have an account already then you just 'log in' from the apple TV - but if you don't and 'create an account' from the apple TV a special situation occurs where billing is assigned to your itunes account.

          @Sharp:

Log into iTunes and cancel your subscription to Netflix. Then once the current month is finished your account is essentially cancelled. You can then signup/login through the Netflix website using the same email, but now you can pay using credit card/gift card code.

  • I got the same NCK for both phones… can that be right?

    • +1

No but they thank you for the IMEI.
Tomorrow yet another Chi-Phone is born.

      • The phones are made in china anyway. Theres probably already 10 of your phone somewhere. :)

    • what was the NCK - see how many other peeps have the same one?

  • It did not work on Telstra T815

  • anything for nokia lumia 530?

    • It is impossible as this is for ZTE phones ONLY

  • Awesome, thanks!

  • Thanks OP
Unlocked 4 F286's and tested with telstra data only & voda sim.
Received sms on voda and could make and receive calls.

    • How did you get the box to come up which allows you to put in the unlock codes? I tried putting in another network provider sim card, and the phone came up as locked, but didn't give me the option to input codes? Just a button to ring an emergency number (it literally dials and calls 000 for you, doesn't give you the option to input a number)?

        1. Enter * 983 * 8284 # (a prompt will appear to enter a password)

Heres what I did on all the phones.
        No sim
        Get imei
        Enter on website
        Do the above step 4.
        Press Ok
        Phone shutsdown
Insert non-optus sim for testing if its unlocked

        Finished

Damn, just when I threw the thing in the bin a few days ago LOL. Awesome find though OP!

      What a waste. :(

So simple to recycle mobiles. Drop it off at Telstra or even ask your local zoo for a postage label or prepaid envelope.

didn't everyone sell their ztes for $16 at CEX?

    • why do they buy Optus locked for $16, while unlocked only $13?

edit: what the difference between designated OptusA & OptusB?

      • +2

Not sure if these are sold unlocked but I'm guessing they assume unlocked to be user unlocked ie. Used.

A is brand new in box. B is used.

    • +1

      What is CEX?

    • Did you get your netflix code through text or email? I still haven't got mine

      • Comes by sms. It just took about a week to get it (a web link), only to find the Optus site that generates the actual Netflix code is broken today.

      • sms on phones, email on broadband. Took 2 days from registering for me, 7 days on the modems.

        • It says I've activated the sim but do I need to put money on the pre paid sim? I'm such a noob.

        • @mgf84: no, just wait for the sms giving you a link

    • hey mate could you please explain what is CEX? I know that they buy/sell but do they really buy the ZTEs at $16 each…? it's like we make profit from buying from coles/woolworths/dicksmiths plus 3 months netflix however, explain the process and if you have done it before please would be really helpful :D
edit: will they take the ZTEs that are opened from the clear wrapping and the sim is used but still in the box with the void sticker on it? (is that what they consider brand new?)

      • +1

They'll take it regardless. Take it to the store then they'll run tests/factory reset then get your money.

        If it's in the box opened/unopened - A
        If it's been used/no box - B

The sim is irrelevant, you're selling the phone.

        • Thanks bro I'll see if I can run my ZTEs to a store!

  • Worked.

    Cheers OP!

    Unlocked 2 phones ;)

  • Worked on 3 ZTE F286 phones for me. The phone apparently doesn't do 850MHz 3G so keep that in mind if using a Telstra SIM.

  • thanks, Unlock my 5 F286

  • Sweet, just unlocked 3 phones and it is working on Telstra 2G.

  • Seems like a pretty awful phone even if does come with netflix

  • Confirmed working! Cheers OP

  • Thank you op

  • doesn't work for me at all.

After enter NCK it says "See Ya" the power off.

insert sim card it says network locked

    • did the same for mine :(

    • I got the same See Ya message and the phone powered off after entering the NCK code and pressing OK.
Then inserted a Telstra a SIM and powered - all good - UNLOCKED !

  • Confirming it generates the same NCK as I got direct from Optus website.

  • thanks OP, Just unlocked 5 units.

  • Cheers OP :)

  • Bought the unlock codes on ebay.
*Throw the phone against the wall as if it's Nokia 3310's brother from different mother

  • Is there any way to confirm the code has unlocked a phone without a non Optus sim to test with?

    • not really, you need a different provider sim to test - voda would do

  • so i manaaged to get an imei and code for the Telstra Mobile Broadband MF910. Anyone know where I can enter the code on its telstra menu thing?

    • not one person wanted to unlock their portable hotspots????

      • any luck?

        • Update- no unlock code or unlock code is not in the right format, telstra keeps saying code needs to be x characters long.

          shame, $25 unsaved. :(

  • There is something funny with this… I just tried it on four different phones (all Optus ZTE F286's from the deal) and it's coming up as network locked on each one. It's a different network locked message than before putting the code in (originally it comes up with a "Network Locked, Contact Optus" message, but now it comes up with a different more generic network locked message that you can press OK past, and the phone just says "Phone not allowed" in the network area where it would normally show Yes Optus etc.

  • Thanks OP. Unlocked 4 units successfully.

  • What SIMs is everyone here testing these with - I'm testing with an Aldi Telstra sim and can't get it work?

    • Mine worked on both Voda and Tesltra.

      I'm in metro NSW

  • Thanks OP drsharma2013…
Unhlock and work with Aldi Telstra Sim

  • Nice one!!! thx!

  • Thank you very much for your information. This seems to have worked for $14 Target ZTE F286 (bought a couple of days ago) and is replacing broken Aldi phone. On pension and many bills so want to stay with Aldi… I hope it continues to work and does not lead to problems down the track. Will post if any news. Once again, thank you.

  • ZTE F 268 phone unlocked using given method: Now phone says invalid SIM (after an hour or two) (old SIM that was maybe cancelled by Optus in porting process) so will try to re-register with Aldi Mobile using new SIM card ($1 at grocery shopping)… hope it works to allow me low-cost mobile and I can work on other debt/expense issues. Feel so ignorant, nothing new there!
