Just spotted this banggood endoscope - okay well lets not get childish - in the latest email. This one runs directly to your android phone which makes it more handy than the USB types where you need a pc or a dongle for your endoscope. This one is more useful for me with rc sailboats as I always have my phone on me and I can look for lost bits in nooks and crannies waterside or in the shed. 1m is long enough for me but for those that need to go deeper, you can get a 3.5m version for a few AU$3.99 more.

NOTE: Your phone must have OTG function. Full details are on the site.

Brief sample of site says:

I think I will need the longer cable.

the picture quality is going to be crap, but this will go nicely with the Ainol tablet

    • The picture could be 1280x960. Thay isn't bad for shoving down a pipe to see what is happening. Not sure about how good the lights are though

    • Is this the same one that they sell at Orifice Works?

You can get a 2M version for $17.72 AUD delivered here- http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2m-Cable-Waterproof-10mm-Lens…

      Maybe but it isn't Banggood!!!

Thanks for the neg but that's a USB endoscope. This one is designed specifically for android phones and has a different connection. So not same type of product.

      • Yeah carrying around a phone rather then a laptop makes this a great deal

        • Why wouldn't Android work with a USB endoscope and an OTG adapter?
In fact, I suspect the only difference is the plug on the end.
Why would you want an endoscope that doesn't use the standard USB camera protocol?
Otherwise it might become useless next time you upgrade the phone.

          @manic:

I believe it is the lack of drivers. I had been looking for this sort of thing, but at the time they were either really expensive or not available.

I ended up getting a USB one, 5m long cable. I haven't used it much yet, but I think I am going to soon as it looks like one of the down pipes is blocked.

Android would be much better, but even 3m could be very limited.

        My apologies, neg retracted.

No worries, we see so many deals it can be easy to miss a detail as we skim them.

    • $10 on ebay from a seller with orders of magnitude more feedback

      • can you link please?
would like one for $10 but doing a search on ebay for android endoscope the prices start at $70 for me.

        • +1

just search endoscope. I have no idea if they work with android though, was just replying to gooddealmate

  • Finally something that our troll can use to find his head :P

a lot of people bend over backwards for this item

  • +3

Does it come with a big tub of vaseline?

  • Will this work on iOS?

    • Nope :-(

      • +1

        iOS?

to clarify, I mean my Internal Orifice Sections

        • +2

might not be safe for a TightBottom

        • @bonz: Thats what the Vaso is for…

    • +3

Sadly no, but it will work on anOS

  • What can you do with it? I was thinking of using it to check the plumbing for blockages, but I don't think it is stiff enough.

    • or narrow enough.

    • I'm using it to spy on my housemates

      • I think the long cord will be a give away.

        • There's ways around it…

Of course I'm joking but I bet that's the main practical use of this product

I have to pick a nit here. Endoscope is a term for an optical device that is used inside the body. A borescope is an optical device used for visual inspection work. The post refers to uses that would primarily be considered the job for a borescope. The exception is "intraoral camera systems". In that case, the correct term is IOC (intraoral camera).

EDIT: The banggood link refers to borescope in the heading, which is good.

    • Isn't endoscope also an optical device used for visual inspection work? So endoscope is a subset of borescope?

    • +1

Isn't an endoscope just a borescope that has had a bit of an alcohol wipe down?

My Home Intestinal Surgery for Dummies book seems to think it will work fine.

  • Website shows $19.99 momentarily then changes to $25.88, does this happen to anyone else?

    • Check the currency next to the price. It would have went from US to AU.

      • To clarify it went from US $19.99 to US $25.88

        • I know. It defaulted to AU to me and showed 19.99 US, but now when I refresh I'm getting 25.88 US like you.

        • @Clear: holy shit it's now showing US $28.88

  • +2

OP, you need to warn people that this only works on phones with USB host, aka OTG function

    • +1

I figure it being written in red and with lots of info on their page about it, people could figure it out for themselves, I did not want to copy the whole site here. But a valid point I guess so I'll edit the post.

  • Well that one sold out quick. The sales numbers jumped quickly.

    • +1

It's working for me 2 hours later..

      • Yeah something odd about the way they have done it seems hit and miss for some reason. It works for me then it doesnt. Weird.

        • +1

Only works from the email link though..

        • @scubacoles:

Is the email link still working? Could you please post if it is?

          Cheers

        • @OzBragain: It would have expired weeks ago.

        • @ShipShapeRC:

That's why I asked the question weeks ago :)

Received a PM with a link to the cheaper price…all good.

  • is this the same as sam fisher in splinter cells device?

  • This deal is now even better, I just bought the 3.5m boroscope for $US19.99.
Had 2 in my cart last night.. hunted around for some other crap to buy and ended up getting distracted and going to be without buying. Decided that 1 would be sufficient this morning and just processed payment now.

  • Arrived today. Wasn't comfortable loading the supplied .apk and ended up installing this

Does the job and should make DIY dentistry much easier.
